There is also sensitive information pertaining to inmates (like murder, rape, arson etc). "Viewer discretion advised". We learned a vast amount of knowledge about various things during the tour. The term swooning actually was just fainting because the corsets were tied too tight. The girls working out of the Homestead House made $100 a day, or what is equivalent to $7,000 today. The Homestead House vetted out their clients and it was exclusive. The person who received the bed spread in one of the rooms was the lady who started the museum in 1958. The history in this place is awesome. Check this museum out and you won't be sorry to learn about the history of the area, the women, and the house. When you're in the Old West, you have to visit what made the Old West a place of legends.

They have also restored other buildings in town and continue to strive to maintain the ghost city for future generations. Please help them by visiting the museum (if it's open when you are in town) and by donating to their important and wonderful cause. I enjoyed viewing this majestic building from the exterior. It once used to house the courthouse in Buena Vista. Also the wooden mammoth sculpture exhibit in their front lawn is a reminder of the excavation and archeological site found nearby.
