I still try to visit occasionally as it has a congenial atmosphere, relaxed surroundings and decent beer and food at very reasonable prices. The main activities of the Club take place in a very decent-sized bar on the ground floor, while 2 full sized snooker tables occupy a large upstairs room. Originally founded as a Club for ex-serviceman after the First World War, the Club now caters for anyone who wishes to join and enjoy its conviviality. Although there is much military memorabilia on display, the Club has moved some considerable distance from its origins, while still maintaining strong feelings of national pride. It plays a leading part in the organisation and staging of the annual 'Remembrance Day' activities, for example. In Pinner and its surrounds, there's no better place to be for a relaxed lunch or evening out with friends; there are regular bingo, quiz and music nights, and occasional steak or curry nights. The Committee is always ready to listen to new ideas for other activities and the Club is sometimes made available to parties for private functions. The Club's always looking for new members and for anyone living within reasonable distance of Pinner, this is certainly a place to consider.

The beer was very cheap but was still of a very good quality, the staff & club members were very friendly and made me feel at home, I ended up getting chatting to some of the people in the end as I have an allegiance with West Ham United FC. The furniture was nice, there were screens for the current sporting events and there was plenty of social activities i.e. darts, pool etc. The club was very busy and quite packed, that should tell you something and I really enjoyed my time there!

There are flat screens around usually playing music videos, and a few slot machines for those who like a flutter. There are also 3 pool tables, although trying to get one in the evening is going to be difficult. Occassionally the only way to get a table is to play someone for it, which is not great if you just want a game with a friend. The drinks and food at locos are reasonably priced and fairly tasty. The Academy is the student unions club, and is pretty small, there is nothing really special going on here. The club nights have been better of late with a more varied schedule, from what was once dominated by only R&B and Hip Hop nights. However, most students eventually opt to head out into central London for more fun rather than stay at the academy.

I have fond memories of going here as a child normally at family get togethers at Christmas and New Year. The place has always been very welcoming and caters for parties, wakes or any other occasion you could think of. Sheehy way (where the club is located) was named after Mayor Sheehy who did much for all the towns people especially the early Irish migrant workers who came to the town in the 1950's and '60's and helped turn it into the major industrial centre it is today. The club often has bands and other gigs going on and most are open to the public. They catered for my Fathers funeral at quite short notice even though they were officially full. This is typical of the friendly nature of the staff here who will go the extra mile to help out and they honestly did. There is always a warm welcome here for all and plenty of genuine craic, not like the fake Irish bars known as O'Neills of which unfortunately there is one in Slough high st. (and thats one too many) which has about as much appeal as a sewer. Slainte.
