Then when my primary doctor reviewed their labs, they said everything was fine. The results came back from the more comprehensive panels that Dr Rozita ordered and lo and behold, there were a number of underlying problems that caused the norovirus to take so long to clear, and she gave me a customized suite of supplements and medications to address those underlying issues. I can't recommend her enough, she really looks at the whole person and bases care on 'all' the data, not just what the insurance company chooses to pay for. It's really disappointing that I have 'good' insurance, and am going to competent western medical professionals, but our abdication of care to the payor is just not healthy, figuratively and literally. I've attached the TEXT so you can decide for yourself if you agree that it wasn't an appropriate way to end therapy. A phone call to end therapy seems more appropriate to me and at least the option to pay out of pocket. When I called, they gave me referrals to practitioners that don't even offer TMS. Fortunately one of the psychologists referred me to Dr Wycoff and Dr Hubbard. TMS has been life-changing, literally. "Hi K! This is .... from Del Mar Brain and TMS. I just wanted to let you know that I checked with your insurance again and unfortunatley our clinic specifically is out of network for your insurance plan. I know you had your intake with K, and she recommended therapy and another medication trial. Luckily, the TMS eligibility requirements are standard, and this will likely be the same recommendation from other clinics. Here is a list of a few other TMS clinics in the area. The physicians she was stuck with and their offices either didn't bother to return calls or would wait until her condition deteriorated, then say she should go to the hospital (which is kinda the opposite of the point of home care). I decided that if I was already going to be working with San Diego Docs for my mom's care, I might as well add myself and give it a try.... It's amazing the feeling you get when you call their number and one of them answers. Or when you text and a human sends you a real response! You actually feel like a real individual patient again. Both Drs. Fam are knowledgeable and personable, it's refreshing to not have physicians act as though you are just another appointment to slog through and check off boxes. I had been in the habit of waiting and putting off seeing my previous GP before because of how dismissive they all were, so I am still getting used to the idea that if there's an issue with my meds feeling less effective or if I need a refill, I can text, email, or call and not only get a quick response but also not feel like I am an inconvenience. After seven years in San Diego, I finally found the "medical unicorn" of caring, competent, and personable family physicians. I have been fortunate enough to discover upper cervical care over 10 years ago (there were only 2…read moreBlair practitioners I was aware of in San Diego County at the time). I've been a loyal patient of my original chiropractor ever since, and he changed my life after years of chronic neck/back pain from 2007 to 2016. What started as multiple visits per week eventually became as-needed, maybe 2 to 8 times a year. That's how well it worked. This past November (2025), that familiar pain came back. After numerous visits over three months with my regular doctor, more than I've had in the past three years combined, nothing was holding. One Saturday I was desperate and he wasn't available, so for the first time in nearly a decade I searched for another Blair specialist. That's how I found Dr. Park. She found that both my atlas and axis were misaligned on both sides. My first adjustment gave me the best relief I'd had in months. On a later visit when the upper cervical adjustment alone wasn't giving me the instant relief I usually feel, she had me come back the next morning to reassess. That's when she worked through the compensations throughout my spine. As she did, the pain actually intensified, but she stayed with it. After addressing the compensations, she rechecked and adjusted my C2 again, and all the pain just disappeared. I turned my head in all directions, up, left, right, and felt nothing. I got emotional. I'm not here to compare doctors. I'm sharing my story in hopes that someone dealing with any type of chronic pain or condition discovers this technique and gets to feel as normal as they can again.
