Very bad facility. The bad reviews prove it.There's much better care facilities in the area. The physical therapy is a complete joke. The furniture is all beat up. The toilets are the cheapest super low style where an elderly person can't get off the seat without assistance. I pay over $3,000 a month with no private room. Only $75 a month spending money for your own private needs. Very cramped you can't even fit a wheelchair through it. Very surprised it's not a fire hazard. Most nurses and aides are very rude. Can't recommend!!! You can do much better locally than this place where naturepathic medicine is integrated into the patients care!!! No matter what is said by the administrator it is just a bunch of hot air and nothing will ever be done about the situation. All they care about is the almighty Benjamin $$$!!! read more

I worked here for 3 months. My experience was awful, fortunately I could choose to find another job. My personal grievance with this place is that on 3 occasions my pay was short, there was no attempt by anyone to rectify the situation. I have called countless times and the administrator refuses to talk to me. They clearly don't treat their employees right, while I was there I heard similar stories from several co workers, their vacation time being taken away unexpectedly, not getting paid overtime, missing money from checks. Management is effectively stealing from their staff, and hoping they can get away with it. As far as resident care goes, it's just as bad. The residents would frequently state that their needs weren't met, and their concerns went unheard. Several of them had very serious concerns, but expressed that during a state survey no one talked to them, despite specifically asking to speak to a state worker. Most of the employees here, from what I saw give their best effort to accommodate the needs of the residents. It's really hard to take care of this many people effectively with the delapidated state of this building. It's pretty shocking given the location that this facility is anything less than amazing. The owners should really consider investing some money into this building, providing adequate resources for their staff, making sure they're compensated properly, and ensuring the residents are receiving the quality of life they deserve. In my short time there it felt pretty clear that none of these things were their priorities. read more

I spent 3 weeks recovering from an UTI and kidney problems and have never been in rehab before and didn't know what to expect. I found that the staff was very competent and caring. The physical therapy department was excellent and worked me hard and helped me strengthen my legs. All in all I appreciated their efforts and was glad I was there. At times I didn't understand how that put up with the very Intolerant patients, but they did. All in all I was glad I was there to mend and get healthy. read more

My group performed music for the residents of Salmon Brook in Glastonbury back on June 17, 2024 and I am still waiting to get paid for the performance. Every time I call I get the run-around. Do NOT perform for this location if you want to get paid!!! read more

I can't even begin to tell you what an absolute horror show this place is! It started with them greeting me with a wheel chair that had no foot rests on it so I'm being wheeled to my room in a chair in which I had to hold my feet up after back surgery. Then I'm put in a private room, and left in bed with no call button, walker or cane for over 3 1/2 hours I was unable to even get up to go to the bathroom. Over 6 hours before I'm given any kind of pain relief, then they come and tell me the supervisor has changed my room, I am required to pack and move my own stuff to said room, on the way to "new" room I hear either the charge nurse or the nursing supervisor telling the other nurses that she is not doing my admittance because it should've been done prior to her getting there, I walk into new room, and my new roommate has dementia and is screaming at me to not touch my bed, at this point I just shook my head, said I'm not doing this turned around and walked back to my private room, at which point one of the nurses happens to see a pack of cigarettes in my bag, takes them away from me. I tell them that I am going home the next morning. supervisor comes to see me agrees with me that everything that happened shouldn't have happened tries to convince me to stay, but when I tell them I'm going home. We go from being concerned about me and my rehabilitation to now telling me that I'm leaving medical advice and they're not giving me any medication. now im home and I go to fill my prescriptions, and oh guess what surprise surprise said rehabilitation place filled all of my prescriptions in my name with my insurance out of a pharmacy in New York so now I can't get any of my medication because the insurance company is saying it's too soon, of course trying to deal with rehabilitation place is still a horror show, so I am without my heart medication and my muscle relaxers at this point until Monday. If you have loved ones to not send them to this place unless you want them to die. I won't even go into the 80's music blaring in the hallways at all hours of the night, or the lack of any updates since the 1970s, no toilet riser or any of the other items needed after this surgery such as ice packs, a decent Walker, cane, nothing. This place 100% made me worse than just going home would have. I left the very next morning and took a chance navigating 27 stairs rather than spend another minute in this place! read more

This rehabilitation center only will get 2 Stars from me. My mother was there temporarily for rehabilitation and she looked good as far as her care. The furniture in the patients rooms are very old and worn and the place reeks with the smell of urine. I get it that most of their patients, residents have no bladder control but I work in a hospital with the same issue and it doesn't smell. Nobody knew that my mom was being discharged and she( mom) was frustrated because we both thought everyone was aware. One hand definitely does not talk to the other at Salmon Brooke. read more

I went to the Salmon Brook Rehab/Convalescent home today for the first time and was appalled at the shabbiness of the facility. The staff was completely unprofessional except for two that I met, there was loud music playing through their sound system, (like at a fitness gym), the unit was extremely hot (faulty heating/air conditioning system), a travel that I tried to sit in (in the lounge) almost collapsed on me, (the seat was detached), and the building itself looked old. The friend I was visiting said the food was terrible, and gave examples, and the service was lazy. From what I was seeing I did not doubt. PLEASE look for anything else than this home. Believe me, this place is no home for humans. I will never return! read more

In february after initial surgery, T went to Salmon Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing. It took them a week to begin treatment because they were waiting for insurance approval via their corporate office. In April, Teddi got very sick. I asked them to take blood test and send to hospital if necessary. Nurse supervisor refused, and refused to call in dr to check on her. I called ambulance and had her taken to hospital. I also notified the Facilities Licensince investigation Section of the DPH who investigated Salmon Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing. I just received a report from them. Turns out, this is from their report - T needed a special wound dressing called mesalt - which stimulates cleansing of necrotic wounds by embedding sodium chloride into wound., They did an initial treatment with this mesalt, but then stopped it because corporate office said it was not in their formulary. The wound improved during the mesalt and degraded when they stopped it. After I sent her to hospital, she returned to a different nursing home - Sheriden Woods Health Care Center where she has received top notch treatments way above and beyond the norm. Meanwhile, FLIS has implemented actions to bring Salmon Brook in Glastonbury into compliance. I definitely will not reccomend salmon brook if you need a nursing home and require any kind of care while there. It is fine if you need a place for safe living and physical therapy, but if you need any treatments, stay away. I will note that this is not slander, since it is documented in the FLIS report of action. I will add to this - Salmon Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing was cited by FLIS for staff failing to report her deteriorating condition and for not providing treatment that was ordered by doctor. read more

Incredibly disappointed in the lack of care and humanity shown at this facility. We sought out this facility to aid my sick grandmother in getting better. Nursing staff was cruel, insensitive and inattentive to their residents. The facility itself is incredibly dirty and the lack of resources is innumerable. I hope and pray for those stuck in that facility and hope that there is awareness and a change someday soon to better care for the residents in this atrocious facility. read more

it's just plain terrible! My wife was put here for six weeks do to an antiboditic she needed to have. At first staff is effiecent and curtious but after two weeks things strated to go worse. First the food, not healthy nor was it appetizeable . Second the service when you need to go use a bed pan, always too small and overflows. third when your done having your medication by introveinal, the staff disappears to other areas nobody mans the nurse station! My wifes health is in jeopardy because of lack of personal care. I will never allow my wife to be admitted to such a horrible place. Please if you have any sence, do not go here! read more

THis is one of the worst facilities I have visited. I have a friend here in the transitional care area. I doubt she will ever be able to return home. The place is dirty, the attention given to her is non-existent. The staff is so unfriendly. They don't even deliver water every day and if water is delivered there are no cups. Leftover sticky things in the room from day old food covers. Remote for tv was found by us under the bed. Staff would not look for it. Everything we have asked staff for is not delivered without asking at least twice, sometimes more. I plan on calling a staff management person to find out what the EXPECTED level of care is in the Transitional Unit because in my opinion, there is nothing. read more

Very disappointed in the care in this facility. The therapy department and some of the Aides for my friend have been wonderful, but overall the nursing staff and food are very poor. My friend has been in the facility for almost two weeks and has not even seen a Social Worker about her care plan (if there is one) or discharge plan. Family and friends frequently bring her meals from the outside. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

Salmon Brook is utterly disgusting. The staff is very rude and unprofessional. The food isn't fit for animal consumption. The rooms might get cleaned once a week. I purposely threw a food wrapper on the floor and it stayed there for 9 days. I've been asking to be transferred to another facility and all I get are lies and excuses. In less than 2 weeks there were 2 mistakes on food orders and 1 (that I'm aware of) on medication. In my opinion this facility has got to be one of the worst in the area. Keep your loved ones out of here. The nursing care is non existent. I have worked in skilled nursing homes in this state as a therapist and regret ever day sending my mom for short term rehab at Salmonbrook. It is dirty and short staffed. I pray for the residents that are here. I had to yell at the director of nursing in order to seek urgent medical care. read more
