I would like to start off by saying i have never left a review on a place EVER but yall genuinely have me flustered. I am a male that came in a for a TRIM ONLY(i asked for 1.5 inches off). yes i know a guy going to a salon isn't very normal but when you have pretty long hair for a guy you cannot go to a barber. not only did this person cut off double the length that i wanted, they cut my hair uneven. the right side of the front is short while the back is long and the front left side is too long with the back too short. no because who actually hired this person. u butchered my shi and now i have to let it regrow for the next COUPLE MONTHS. did not leave the house this weekend. will be having my hair in a headband everyday until i can look in the mirror again without laughing at how i look. p.s. the hot towel and shampooing was nice lol read more

Another amazing experience with Tamara and salon 427! My mother had tears of joy because she was taking such good care of and felt like family. The costumer service is impeccable and there is no comparison to other salons. I have another appointment for myself soon, so basically my whole family and a few of my friends are also following me because they saw results and know how picky I am when it comes to good service. This place is all about customer service. From the moment you walk in to door you are greeted with an upscale attitude and asked about your reservation, not appointment. You'll get a full tour of the place too newbie. Once you are checked in, you will be asked if you want a beverage. The picture shows how it is served, complete with a fresh carnation! They differentiate new clients with red ones. This place has phone chargers for any type of phone and convenient hooks for purses. The wash house is a different world. It is quiet and spa like. You get a free upgrade with service such as neck or shoulder massage or paraffin dip. Make sure to tell them I referred you then I will get $10 off my service and two upgrades! New clients get two upgrades up front. They are a Paul Mitchell salon so expect to see have to be told about them. They work as a team here so don't worry about offending your stylist if you use another stylist here. You may also have someone else wash and/or dry your hair. This is our favorite salon! My oldest daughter has very thick hair and a lot of people can not cut it right. We drive to come here. They always do an excellent job. Sara is our favorite for our oldest and Hannah has always had a great experience too. I would only trust 427 to color our daughters hair. Yes it is pricey but you pay for excellent service and care. I have been getting my hair done for almost 15 years and never in my life have I had such an unprofessional experience at a salon. To preface, I was excited to get my hair done so this whole situation left me extremely disappointed. To start with, the only thing I thought was nice about the salon itself was the front entrance. The energy of every person I encountered seemed very off ,unwelcoming and entitled- for what I'm not very sure. When I walked past the nice reception area, I was sat in a duct taped chair and the salon was filthy. They really just try to lure you in by putting a nice reception area and reasonable prices ONLINE. In person- prices are completely different. Not sure how a level one stylist for dying my (overgrown) roots blonde as a blonde + only getting a toner = $275?! I'm sorry but that's absolutely ridiculous, I'm not dying my entire head. The Level 2 stylist tried to tell me that highlights is $220 to start and $365 for only bleaching my scalp and getting a toner which they consider a "platinum card" even though I'm not dying all my hair and I'm already a blonde!!! I have never heard of spending $220 for highlights and when I mentioned that to the 3 ladies up at the front desk- they said nothing. $220 is something you pay for a balayage or a full color/toner/cut!!!! When I mentioned that I had a budget because I didn't want to pay more than $200 for a basic service (without tip!!!) I was met with a patronizing attitude. I also don't feel comfortable giving someone $365+ when they can't fix overgrown roots properly with one color without saying it will "band" or that it could possibly turn orange when I have NEVER had that issue with any stylists I have worked with. The cherry on top of this mess was that when I left there was no issue, suddenly when I get home a half hour later they text me about a $25 cancellation fee!!! When I gave any pushback they said "or we could charge you $32 for a "consultation fee"!" - I showed up 10 minutes early, met with the stylist, we did not connect in any way, pricing was completely different, the service I was asking for seemed my stylist could not complete in entirety as well, AND I did not feel the atmosphere was positive at all. Naturally, as one would do and has the freedom to do- I left. No one mentioned the cancellation fee when I was there; according to their own policy that's in writing online that's not considered a "cancellation", so I refuse to pay for something that does not apply to me. The whole thing was unprofessional and honestly unethical. Time was wasted but at least it wasn't my money. Do not recommend. read more

Inside is beautiful and clean. My mom and I went to get just our haircut but our beauticians really understood what we wanted. They took the time to listen. I have been losing my hair because of chemo and Tamara was understanding and was able to help me find the best solution to making my hair look more full and fitting my lifestyle. I saw the Paul Mitchell decals on the windows and I knew I had picked the right place. Mikayla (I hope I spelled it correctly) answered the phone and was extremely helpful and knowledgable and scheduled my first appointment at Salon 427 with Erika. I was greeted warmly and with a cold drink! Then asked to complete an intake sheet which was great, it made me feel cared for. Then Mikayala came by and gave me a tour of the salon, a very nice touch! I was familiar with the Paul Mitchell concept, and Salon 427 got it right. I felt comfortable and welcomed. And Erika! I felt heard and confident I was in good hands immediately. She listened and took her time, asking great questions. I had a terrible experience with a haircut a year ago somewhere else and the grow out has been torture. She knew exactly what to do and I could not be happier! The room they take you to for your rinse is a real treat! a reclining chair, low lights, fireplace, essential oil scented towels, and hand paraffin really elevates this experience. Erika again took her time, I didn't have water running down my back or dripping everywhere. Trust me, I am all about the details! and I did not have color staining all over my face and lose half my makeup in the process. And you put like a robe over your clothes and then the usual apron so you don't leave covered in hair or get color on your clothes. I'm telling you guys, this place is it. Anytime you see the Paul Mitchell logo, their stylists continue their education constantly. Oh, and Erika took some extra time and showed me how to style my hair using an iron! ***Edit to add: Steve called me almost immediately and really listened to the issues I had with my experience in his salon. He was very kind and apologetic. He assures me that he will be checking into things. I think that's the best he could do in this situation. Perhaps I should've asked to speak with him right away. I was just so shocked that I didn't know what to do in the moment and the stylist was telling me to go, so I went. What a nightmare!!! This was the WORST salon experience of my life and it last all of 10 minutes. I have curly hair and ever since having kids I have parts of my hair that no longer curl. I have gotten a perm once a year to keep the curls natural looking and so I don't have to apply the heat of curling iron often. The woman here who drs perms looked at me when she met me and rolled her eyes. She was visibly annoyed at the sight of me. She took me back to her chair and says, "What do you want?!" And not in a nice tone, in a very annoyed tone. I explained to her about my hair and why I wanted a perm. She calls over another girl who asks me some questions and then tells her, I think it will be fine to perm her hair, it's healthy and it's been over a year since her last one. This woman again rolls her eyes, says, "Fine!" And starts ripping a comb through my curls! She was pulling hair out of my head. I tell her about it and she ignores me and says well I'm not perming your hair without a haircut. I was shocked but said ok. She says it's $47 and I should be happy because that's cheap. She's cutting less than a 1/4 of an inch! She continues to dry comb and rip through my hair cutting little teeny bits. Then she says and I'm going to have to use two boxes on you that's an extra $75. I said, "wait my hair is just past my ears, and one side is shaved. That takes 2 boxes? That's almost $250 for this perm and 'hair cut'?" She says,"yep" with a pop of her lips. I could tell she wanted me to leave. I said ok Thank You but I'm not paying $250 when my hairs not even long. She rips the cape off of me and says, "Good, I'll let them know up front." I went to the front and she tells me, "you can just leave, Buh bye!" I was so shocked. She was so rude, combative and unprofessional. I couldn't think of a single thing I said to offend her since she barely let me get a word in. I wouldn't go back to this place if they offered me free hair cuts and perms for the rest of my life. First off every time I call I end up on hold forever. I canNOT get an appointment that fits my schedule. When I call to ask about hair extensions (they only do tape ins) no one will give me any pricing. They just tell me that I have to come in and pay $32 for them to tell me how much it'll end up costing me. Whaaat?? I keep saying I'm not asking for an exact price just how much they are per pack so I can see who has the best prices. Also, they won't answer questions about the process. Super sketchy. I always ask for top stylist. What I got was top trash. I can't believe what a terrible cut I got. She literally did the exact opposite of everything I asked for. I think I was in shock after I seen she had cut several inches of a $500 color job I just got finished ( it took 3 months). All that time and money gone! Best salon in the area! The stylists are funky, adorable, and great at what they do. I've had my hair cut here several times, had an eyebrow wax, and color, too. You're always offered a free upgrade, too, with a cut (massage, paraffin wax hand treatment, etc.) while they wash your hair. They also offer complimentary beverages and snacks, too. Both Amanda and Britta have cut and colored my hair, and I highly recommend both! This is not a place to be rushed - if you just want to get in, cut your hair, and get out, I don't recommend this salon. They truly understand the definition of what a salon is supposed to be: a place for relaxation and pampering. Allow at least 90 minutes for your cut, but I usually make an afternoon out of it. Be sure to make your reservation at least 1 week in advance - they get very busy and walk-ins are probably not a good idea (given that they spend a good amount of time on each client, as I mentioned above). The receptionists are very friendly and attentive (if a spot opens early, they'll call you). The line gets busy, so you might need to dial a few times, but it's so worth it. read more

The staff was very nice, but my hair turned out horrible. Uneven highlights with patchy blonde pieces and too much bleach. She left the top foils on for only a few minutes so it was just a poor job. I've been a client at Salon427 for a while, and I always go to Christy (referral when I visited my mother). Looks like the old saying is true: mother knows best. I haven't had a bad haircut here yet! Pros: *drinks and snacks offered upon arrival *clean chairs, floors, and tools *recycle bar: refill salon products for half price (remember to bring your empty bottles!) *referral coupons for yourself and your guest (usually $10 off) *"wash house" is dimly lit and relaxing with several "upgrade" options (hand wax, neck massage, etc). My favorite is the neck massage. Nice way to loosen up after sitting in the wash chair. *text appt reminders! So convenient *they're accommodating; they'll work with your preferences (weekends, late times, etc). I drive in from Central Florida for this place! Cons: - there can be a wait (even w/res) especially if there's a local event happening. It's usually not long. - check with your stylist about the recycle bar: not all of their products are included. - stylists aren't always available as scheduled (due to travel or training). They'll offer a different stylist or a reschedule, though. Nice fix. -prices rise according to levels of training completed by stylists. It feels strange to put this in the "con" column - it's sort of understandable - but it's something to watch for if you have a certain price point. I haven't had to change stylists yet, but I'm confident that if I do, I'll still be happy. I've been happier with Salon427 than I've been with a hair place in a long time. I wish I could give this salon a higher review, but after a few times going there, I wasn't feeling 100% about my experience. Between constant rescheduling of the stylist to leaving a washcloth on my head in the washroom for almost 30 minutes and it turning ice cold, I was done. The rescheduling thing happened to my son and husband as well. I always felt forgotten about when my hair was processing, or I was in the washroom. It's more of a stylist issue than the overall salon. She always seemed preoccupied. Last time she was overbooked I believe. While she was cutting someone else's hair, I sat there for almost an hour processing. That's a bit excessive since I don't have anything significant done. She seemed to panic when I mentioned it and asked someone else to rinse me. It was odd. Too many issues for us. read more

I am new to the area and needed to find a place to get my hair done. This is usually a little stressful for me, and takes a few tries. NOT THIS TIME! I found Laura by chance but will absolutely keep going to her by choice :). She does a beautiful balayage effect and sets realistic expectations for how long it takes to get full results. I was really happy that she patiently worked with me to get the look I wanted. I also love that her blowout made my super long hair feel light and full of volume - some people load my hair up with products and it looks flat, Laura definitely knows how to do long hair. They had called me in the morning to reschedule my appointment because a stylist was out but they generously rescheduled me for the same day. The moment I walked in the door all the staff was super friendly and very welcoming. All of the services were exceptional and the two girls who took care of me couldn't be sweeter. I absolutely loved the washroom too it made you feel like you were at a spa. If I wasn't moving shortly I would hundred percent be back to the salon but I'm grateful for the experience! She is honestly the first hairstylist in a long time that I am 100% satisfied with my haircut and enjoyed the time spent with her. My haircut turned out exactly as I wanted; dead ends gone, length still there, bangs styled perfectly, and life back to my hair! First time at Salon 427 and i will be back when i am out visiting the parents again. Initially immediately greeted when entering the salon, customer service is superb here and they offer complimentary drinks. Salon is clean and open layout, so your not overhearing others conversations but not obnoxiously loud where you cant talk to your hair stylist. I contemplated making this review unfortunately I'm beyond irritated , new to the area and needed root touch color and glaze done. Being from NY and a former stylist myself I'm very familiar with tiers , I asked for a top tier stylist, my hair is long and a dark brown true level 3/4 , told the girl my goal was to get a little lighter with hopes to get some form of balayage in the near future. Stylist barely said 2 words to me and put me in their private room in which I sat alone for almost 40 mins, not one person checked on me, no drink offered nothing, during my application the stylist walked away 3 times leaving me sitting there for what felt like forever each time. Finally time to wash and glaze I literally sat in the wash bowl with my head in the sink for 30 mins as she tossed on the glaze and disappeared again. At no point did ANYONE ask are you comfortable, are you doing ok? My freaking neck was killing me. Time to wash and some other person comes in and proceeds to tell me the stylist left ..WTH?? Who does that? I left dripping wet got home to find not only was a not the same level I was, nor a touch lighter which I asked for I was a full shade darker my hair was shoe polish black dull and just gross. Horrible experience and I will never be back to this salon. Top tier stylist my ass Side note got in for my apt asked to add a lip wax, no one came for me ever, all done and ask ummm is anyone going to wax my lip. So I haven't gotten my hair professionally cut in over a year and I was a little unsure about what salon to go to. I ended up choosing this salon and I am not disappointed. The wash room is dim and has stunning light fixtures; they play nature and calming noises while they massage shampoo and conditioner into your hair. They also offer a hot towel. Then I had my hair cut. So much attention to detail was spent cutting my hair and they even really took their time blow drying my hair. The cut was beautiful and exactly what I asked for... my hair has never felt healthier. And the price was even better-- only $35 (not including tip.) I will definitely be returning. read more

UPDATE 9/29/18: about a week or so after I posted this review, Steve, the owner personally reached out to me to listen to my experience. He was understanding, compassionate, and vowed to make it right. Considering my first experience at their salon was so wonderful, I was open to the opportunity to have his team correct my hair. He set me up with their blonding specialist, Laura. She reached out to me the night before my appointment to ask me what my concerns were, what I was looking to achieve and to send her pictures of my current hair and the look I wanted. Again when I walked in the atmosphere of the salon was awesome. Laura went over what I wanted again, and fully delivered what I had originally wanted. After I left Steve again reached out to me to make sure everything went well. I cannot tell you how great it felt to have someone care so much about their business and their clients, and so willing to listen and fix any mistakes that were made. I didn't make a mistake going here at all. I already scheduled my next appointment with Laura and I truly look forward to it, and staying a part of the Salon 427 family. You won't find more dedicated stylists, and more importantly a leader like Steve who makes sure his guests are 100% taken care of. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this have a good ending. I first went here in November of 2016, when their location was on Forest Hill Road. Brittany did my hair and it was PERFECTION. life happened, and I haven't had a chance to have color since. So walking into this, I already had great expectations. I called last minute for a hair cut appointment (on a Tuesday for a Saturday appointment) and everything seemed ok, Brittany was not available on the weekends so I took another stylist. My appointment was at 4pm. Around 1pm that day I get a phone call from them asking if I was ok. I said of course, she proceeds to say 'well your appointment was at 12:45. Now I know she said 4, I marked it in my calendar. Whatever, said she could see me at 2. When I arrived I had to wait 15 extra minutes, which wasn't a big deal to me because I got a nice beverage from the receptionist. I meet with Krystal and she starts asking me about my color. Again, I scheduled an appointment for just a cut. I should have took it as a sign right there to NOT get color, but it was my first time out since my daughter was born so I figured why not. We went over what I had previously, what I wanted now, and I showed her a picture. I was going for subtle, caramel color. What I ended up with was a nightmare. My highlights were splotchy, streaky, yellow, and thick. Think 90's. And not in a good way. I didn't immediately realize due to the poor lighting and when I arrived home my husband literally said 'yikes'. So I reached out to them, explained what happened and yes, they were very responsive. But again, I feel like they had me mixed up with someone else! The girl on the phone kept asking me about my curls (I have straight hair) and said she wasn't going to have time to fix it and curl it like it was (again, I do not have curly hair nor did she curl it, I left with straight hair and she even took pictures of it!!) so I get there on Sunday and Cheyenne helped her fix the color. Now, there is a stylist who not only listens but delivered what I wanted. The only problem is they had to dye over the blonde, and it was a demi so it's already starting to fade out. I used to recommend this salon to everyone, but I cannot see myself returning when someone who is a level 3 stylist in their opinion can not execute what a customer asks for. read more

My haircut was an awful, uneven choppy mess. I went in based on reviews with no stylist referral. Stylist assured me she could achieve what I wanted. I asked her not to attempt if she wasn't 100% sure. It was only an undercut pixie, nothing crazy. I had detailed photos and even a short video on how to do the cut. I was handed off to someone else for blowdry and style. The styist told her what I wanted, I told her what I wanted and she just did her own thing. The stylist said she would make any adjustments after blowdry, but she was no where to be seen. I paid and left. They said I had three days to come back if I wasn't happy, but I had no confidence at that point. What I do have is an appointment elsewhere tomorrow to get it fixed. In the end I wasted 2 hours of my time (which is way to long for a haircut). The salon itself is nice and clean, but I definitely don't recommend going in without a recommendation for a stylist. Just had my fourth visit at Salon 427 and I couldn't be happier with the results! Christy transformed me from dull dishwater to vibrant golden blonde, gave me a terrific new haircut, and probably took five years off the age I look. And on the occasion when I was not completely satisfied with the results, I was welcomed back for a second visit (at no charge) and made to feel that it was really a pleasure to have the opportunity to do it over again ...they refer to their clients as "guests" and really do treat them that way. Service and attitude are excellent ...results are outstanding! I had my hair done at some of the best salons in Washington, DC for many years and would rate the results I got today at the very top of that long list!
