My toes were fine, I was not looking for too much, but my nails on the other hand were a different story. I was not paying much attention when getting my nails done but the shaping was off that I asked for which made my nails so short. I didn't realize until I paid and got into my car, that my nails were streaky, bubbly, clumpy, there was polish on my fingers that I had to clean up, and there was not a correct coat of polish on each finger. I was so upset so I called back and Kathy said that she would redo them. So I took her word and got them fixed. While I was there I asked her to fix the polish and the shape. But my nails got even SHORTER!! And the polish, still wasn't great. I even scheduled another appointment before my appointment to get 3 pedicures with 2 other people with me. Kathy had explained that 1 person would have to wait. I can't stand when this happens! I booked 3 because I wanted them all to be at the same time. Therefore I did not go back. I was really hopeful about Kathy and KNK but this was not a great experience.

The salon has a large parking lot and is conveniently located. My first impression was how ugly the weeds were out front. Reviewers said that Kathy gave good pedicures and when I called, I spoke to her. I booked my spa pedi and gel mani with Kathy. That's why I made appointments ahead of time. I walked in, and another woman, Tracy came over to me. I didn't know it wasn't Kathy until after I sat down. Kathy was giving someone a manicure. Why did she double book herself and take a client who would overlap into my appointment? I think it's because it's a lower end, walk-in salon and they take turns with customers. It was annoying, so not off to a good start. There was peaceful music playing and no TVs on so that was relaxing. I was the only person there at 1:00 on a Friday afternoon. The employees kept getting texts and phone calls and answering their phones though. That should not be allowed. Put your phone on silent and if it's an emergency, take the call in the back. I put my feet in the bowl to soak and the water was too hot so they adjusted it. The bowl looked clean. The pedi chair looked new and had the back massage function. Tracy proceeded with my spa pedicure which consisted of trimming and filing my toenails, trimming my cuticles, rubbing various creams, exfoliants, and lotions on my legs and feet. I didn't like that the exfoliating bar, brush, and other things she used on my feet, were rinsed off, then presumably used on the next person, which meant she had used them on someone else before me. Disgusting! I wonder how they clean the nail clippers? I didn't see an autoclave to disinfect them. That's unsanitary. She took her time going through the steps. Every application of cream, exfoliant, etc. came in a small plastic pouch so the right amount was used. She also used hot stones to rub my legs. Tracy was very meticulous about trimming my nails and adjusted the length when some were too long. The polish application was great. They looked very pretty. My big complaint was that even though she took her time, it wasn't as relaxing as it should have been, because she didn't rub my feet nearly hard enough and only for about two minutes. There was no luxurious foot massage, and that was the reason I got a spa pedi. She kept rubbing my lower shins. That was weird and a waste of time. I wanted a foot rub! Overall, the pedi looked pretty, but the relaxing foot massage I wanted, never happened, so I was disappointed. With the gel manicure, she filed my nails, trimmed my cuticles, went through several applications of polish, and drying, and rubbed my hands a little bit. I didn't know what to expect, since I had never had one before. My nails were filed unevenly and the nail "fuzz" was not all removed from the tips. I asked her to adjust a few nails and used my own file on the tops to get rid of the fuzz. The nail polish seemed clumpy. It went on streaky and uneven. I was not happy with my nails. Today is Tuesday, so four days later, and it's already chipping. The gel seemed to make my nails softer, not harder, so that's odd. The manicure chairs were all beat up and ripped and the nail stations had a lot of wear and tear too. The bathroom was not dirty but it could have been cleaner around the sink area and the floor. I paid and Kathy apologized that I didn't get her to do my pedi and mani but there was no explanation as to why. She was very nice though. I paid $55 for the spa pedi and $28 for the gel mani. The pedicure was disappointing because the foot massage lasted about two minutes, if that. Kathy supposedly gives a good foot massage which is why I booked with her. I'll never know though, since I didn't get her. The manicure was disappointing because it looked bad and didn't last. The atmosphere was disappointing because the employees kept taking phone calls and getting texts, some of the equipment was beat up, and overall the salon could have been cleaner. During my mani, three women came in to get pedis. Two were at the pedi stations and one was waiting by the window. They proceeded to have a loud conversation about their jobs and the people who work there. Every other word was like from all of them. The like, worst offender was, like, a 44 year-old, like, heavy-set, woman, who was sitting by the window, who was, like, so loud and like, annoying, I wanted to scream! It was excruciating to listen to them. That's what you get at lower end, walk-in nail salons. I would not return to this salon. I would rather pay more money to go to a higher-end salon that's cleaner, newer, prettier, and does a proper massage with the spa pedicure, an overall better manicure that lasts, and where the employee that I booked my appointment with is who I get. Well, the name alone was enough to sell me but seriously, this place is amazing! Steven in particular is so good at recreating the random nail inspo photos I bring in for my manicures. My nails are always beautiful, and they last for the 3+ weeks it takes me to make it back for a fill or a refresh. I had a spa pedicure there 2 different times, and both times were soothing and professionally done. They also offer free gel for all pedicures, so you don't have to worry about waiting for nail polish to dry before you can put your socks and shoes back on. They accept walk-ins, but I recommend making an appointment because they're usually busy. I think that's a good thing because it shows that people in the community like the shop and want to patronize it. As a side note, while I was there today, a woman with a young daughter came in to get pedicures together. Since the girl was young, they offered to use nail polish on her toes instead of gel and gave her a matching manicure on the house. I thought that was so kind, and the little girl seemed to love her red sparkly nails! I would definitely bring the little girls in my life here and will recommend it to all my friends.

I asked for a pink color on both my toes and hands, and I got orange on my feet and hot pink on my nails. I even said the number of the polish to both technicians. I have been to this location back in 2018 when it was under previous management (Polished Nail Bar), and decided to check out this place again. I called to see if they accept walk-ins, and thankfully, they were able to accommodate me (which I appreciate!) Upon walking in, I was a little disappointed in the interior. I remember it looking much sleeker when it was Polished Nail Bar. I'm not sure if the previous owners took everything with them or not, but I wasn't as impressed with the interior. They do however have some paintings of nails on the wall behind their stations which is cute. The owner, Kathy, seems friendly and told me to pick out my nail color (regular polish, not gel). They have a carousel in the front of nail polishes. It didn't seem like a large variety to choose from (or all within a similar color palette), but I picked a pearlescent hot pink which is perfect for Summer! The nail polishes all looked a little cracked/old, so I was worried that the nail polish wouldn't go on smoothly, but thankfully it did! Kathy said she recognized my face and that I've been there before. I told her it was possible (but only back in 2018, and that I haven't been back since then). The gel was a little hard to get off of my nails (after the initial cotton ball dipped in nail polish remover and tinfoil alien fingers didn't work 100%). Kathy started scrapping off the gel, but after a while, it was starting to hurt my nails (rather than re-soaking the cotton balls or letting it continue to work it's magic melting off). As she was talking to her usual customers, she a few times accidentally hit my skin with the drill which caused immediate shivers up my neck. My nails were square shaped from my previous nail salon visit, so Kathy shaped them in the same way (which is perfect/what I wanted, she just didn't ask me if that's how I wanted them or if I wanted them a different shape). The two usual customers that came in while I was there were both friendly, but both were joking how the employees were talking about them. The employees laughed, but didn't exactly deny it. I'm glad Kathy has a good rapport with her customers (where she can joke about them/to them, but I'm a bit more reserved). Once Kathy was done and started working on her usual customer, I had another employee work on me. She wasn't too friendly and didn't say hello. She barely pushed down my cuticles (if at all.....) and didn't really try too hard to remove any potential dirt from under my fingernails. It felt more like a "formality" that she was doing, rather than actually going through the formal process of a manicure. She also was cutting my cuticles and definitely cut them up a little bit, as it was hurting/stinging my fingers. When she put the towel on my skin, she didn't ask if it was too hot or if it was okay (it was a tad too hot, but thankfully wasn't boiling). In addition, she barely put lotion on my hands, just the smallest dab and rubbed it in within 2 seconds per hand. All in all, this was more so an emergency nail appointment for me to fix my polish/remove the gel, but I unfortunately do not think I will be back here (and will stick with my usual salon).
