Upon walking in, it was very comfortable meeting with Michelle and Manny for the first time - granted I also haven't really socialized for most of this year. They have one of the salons located inside Salon Republic. To get to Salon Republic, on google maps, it directs you the long way to get there. The quickest way would be parking in the lot between JCPenney and the food court, where there is an outside sign that says Salon Republic. Once you walk in, they are in Salon #102 which is right nearby the reception desk. Salon Republic consists of several salons/hairdressers within. They have a directory also at the front desk, and it lists all salons/others within. Restrooms are more towards the inside. The best method would be to text their number to get pricing along with making an appointment. They squeezed me in same day as I let them know I was expecting soon and was just vying for an overdue cut, and they had availability. I haven't gotten a haircut since like Nov/Dec so my hair was LONG. They were the first to listen to what it is that I wanted and not offer a bob cut. About 90% of other places have ALWAYS cut my hair shorter than I wanted, which prompted me to not go back. I got the cut I wanted along with suggestions from them - if I wanted a bit of layering/certain things before they actually did it. The hair wash was amazing - there's just something about when someone else washes your hair! They have two adorable doggies (Freyja and Boondocks) who would love to greet you if you go in. Boondocks likes to sit on your lap. They mainly slept the entire time I was there. I am slightly allergic, but was fine inside as they had two filters running at the top and they had hand sanitizer inside. I got to give Freyja a pat before leaving. So free dog therapy while getting your hair done. For services, they do coloring, highlights, balayage, non-surgical hair replacement (men), hair extensions, barber cuts, scissor cuts, clipper cuts, etc. Clipper cuts are $40 and up, scissor cuts are $50 and up. They accept venmo, cash, or card. Also I heard that Manny does curly hair very well! I am looking forward to going back, but will have to wait after baby comes out and postpartum hair loss! Which is a bummer since I feel like I actually found a hair salon that I finally feel at home with. They're in the process of updating their social medias on instagram - @salondelatorriente but they also have examples of some their work through their stylist accounts @meshellbellhair and @hairbymannyv Definitely recommend checking this place out! Very good salon. I tried to adjust the location on Google maps so it may be more accurate now. If you drive towards the JCPenney, it has an external entrance for the salon republic. For some reason it sent me over to the cheesecake factory, and I was a little bit late, walking over to the entrance within the mall. Definitely takes their time with cleaning and taking care of your hair and hearing how you like it styled I'm not that picky with haircuts as long as they just trim off the dead end but really care about their clients. Have you ever been in a spot where you have been searching for "the one"? You know, the one that just knows what you need? Michelle and Manny - they are the IT couple. Michelle has taken me from shoulder-length hair to below my waist hair....from "meh" color .... to va-va-voom color. On my most recent visit, I had her cut my hair. I mean REALLY cut my hair. I was tired of sitting on it....and silly me...was influenced by those voices in my head telling me that I am too old for long hair. As I continue to get used to my new shorter hair, I plan on maintaining trims so I can get the length back....and this time...oh my, Michelle added SILVER into my hair. It is stunning. She and Manny take care of not only me....my sons too. My sons are mixed race and they taught them (and me) how to take care of their hair...and did some cool styles on them. They are EXPERTS with color. They can even correct hair that has been destroyed (okay, that is dramatic) by box dye. You know, they kind you get off the shelf at the store and do in your kitchen right over the sink. Yes, that kind. Save your pennies and get it done right. You will not be disappointed. If I could triple the stars given, I would give them. The salon is small and cozy. It is a very intimate place where you can get your chair therapy and Netflix on. I've been going to Michele for a little over a year now and my hair is in the best shape it's been in years. I have been to all types of hair dressers from really cheap to the kind that cost as much as your first born. I've also been notorious with boxed dyes. Not only did she fix my color, she made it gorgeous! She is reasonable, and her work is the best quality that I have ever had. I have dark brown hair, and I am Hispanic/Asian and she highlighted me wonderfully without damaging my hair. I am a nut for ash color, and she did exactly as I asked. This Salon just opened or should I say is opening as I write this review. The Phenix Salon is actually many individual salons located under one roof. Each Stylist has their own "space" or more like a "office". I recently went to have my hair cut by Michelle Casas of "Salon De La Torriente". The setup is unique and I enjoyed the ambience. Refreshments (bottled water) were available with a choice of music if so inclined. And of course the reason I go to Salon De La Torriente is for fine haircuts. Michelle does both men and women hair and I can vouch for the men's cut but I suspect she is equally proficient with women's hair as getting a appointment is about a 2 week wait, though if your on her email list or FB, she sends out notifications if an opening comes up, give them a try, great cuts, great service. read more

I arrived about 10 minutes early and as I was walking into the building I ran into Manny who was actually on his way to meet me at the front entrance and from there he led the way to their suite! Shortly after I met Michelle and I could tell she was ready to work her magic on my hair. Before she even started anything, we went over my previous hair color history, products I was using, and she was very honest on all the feedback and questions I had for her. And then in just a matter of minutes I had foils in my hair, a magazine in my hand and good music playing as Michelle began working on my hair. My hair was slightly bleached, washed, conditioned, toned (even threw in a head massage) and she finished up by styling it very beautifully! I've been through countless places where my experience has been, "What do you want" sit there and let them cut my hair however with Michelle, you won't get that subpar service. What makes her stand out is that she'll listen to what I'm looking for and cut my hair according the directional growth of my callac. She validates what you want and is not pushy with anything. Making follow up appointments is a breeze and very responsive for rescheduling because of Murphy's Law.
