This was my first visit (on a whim) which I was super excited to get my hair lightened. I found Lindsey on social media and liked her portfolio so why not stop by, I was in town. Lindsey was professional and did a good job but when I was hit with the bill I was not pleased. The website said "85 & up" for a balayage but my ticket said $250. I should have asked prior to making the appointment but I didn't assuming the website would be accurate especially with my short hair. I asked for a balayage originally and got an ombré with foils (what Lindsey said she was doing verbatim) hence the confusion at the end. I have warm-ish roots and she suggested a silvery toner for the ends. It sounded okay at the time but now looking at it, it's not what I truly wanted and I'm not as into it as I originally thought I was. Also, I don't recommend the "deep conditioning treatment" for $10. It's just some spray that sits on for a couple minutes. Lindsey and another girl are moving to Lake St so if you go there to see them, make sure to bring photos and be detailed on what you want. Overall: bummed. I never get what I truly want. read more

I love this salon and my hairstylist Tessa! She always knows exactly what I want and never cuts too much when you want just a trim. Tessa always gives excellent tips on how to improve the health of my hair as well as how to style it. She's always so friendly and ensures you're comfortable by offering refreshments or magazines while under the blow dryer. This was my second visit to the salon. Yuri did my cut the first time and balayage the second. She was very flexible when it came to scheduling. She's always booked and I'm only available after 5pm a majority of the time, but she's always willing to make it work. My first cut was relatively simple, my hair was pretty long so we went with a lob. Second visit was a trim and the balayage. Since my hair is still short, she was able to get it done in 1.5 hours and with the additional trim in half an hour. I was very pleased with the turnout. I didn't do anything drastic. A modest look. I came with a picture of what I wanted and she was able to get me something similar. I'm usually veeerrryyyy picky with who I let touch my hair and me coming back twice says something. I can tell shes very particular with her work to so I felt like I was in good hands. In addition to that, we had a great chat and she was very nice. Since she knows i'm on a budget, she gave me tips on hair maintenance so I can prolong the time between visits. For the skill level I've seen with her work, her pricing is really good. I would definitely recommend her! As for the salon, it is located on a busy street but there is parking behind the salon in a small lot. So drive around back. The salon is a modest size, clean, and they also have a manicurist. They also have snacks! Staff has always been pleasant. With my appointments, I never really had to wait too long either. She was professional, attentive, and most importantly, listened to me. Luanne was gentle with combing (it really upsets me when stylists rush through combing). I have long long hair and I want it to be brushed as gently as possible since it takes 6 years to grow it... I'm thinking about highlights and afterwards Luanne even took time to show me photos and discuss what would look best for me with my skin tone. Luanne also answered my questions about the Brazilian blowout process. She made me feel pampered and I left with beautiful, shiny hair. This review is for Carrie-Anne. I was afraid of getting my hair cut until I met Carrie-Anne. Every time I leave Salon Finsel, I am positively glowing- I'm that happy with her work. I think the best thing about Carrie is that she really listens. Unlike some other hair stylists, she won't take too much creative license and give you something totally off base from what you originally wanted. She takes the time to discuss the style you're aiming for. For example, I recently decided to go short, and knowing me, she suggested that we only take off a few inches, because even that would make a huge difference. She was right, and had I gone with my first intention, I think I would have left in tears. Carrie is also reliable. I can't say how many times she's helped me out- when I've dyed my hair purple or cut my own bangs, and the results were horrendous. She's a life-saver! IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THE SPABRO PACKAGE: DON'T I purchased the Spabro package from a super nice girl on Colorado Blvd, came in for the haircut and was somewhat satisfied. Luanne did it in no time at all, which gave me mixed feelings. On the one hand, I was glad not to sit through a long boring haircut, and on the other hand I felt like she just wanted to get it over with. I Intended to go back to get the high gloss treatment included with the package, but after my experience with the very rude receptionist, I will never go back. I had some free time after work and called to see if they had any space available. She said there was. I mentioned I was returning to get the high gloss treatment included in the package and in response she told me that in that case I would have to call back and schedule an appointment for another day because they had to "make room for regular paying customers." I called a handful of times previously and every time she told me there was no room available, probably because I prefaced my question by saying I bought the package. I called and left a message about an appointment as well and she never returned my call. This is just bad business. The whole point of selling packages is to bring in new clientele and once they come in, you value their business and get them to return. They made it seem like I'm trying to get some freebie deal with a coupon, which is completely ridiculous because I paid for the stupid thing. read more

Carrie ruined my hair. I mean RUINED. I paid $280 for a highlight, cut, and color and she couldn't even color match my base right. The toner washed out after a single wash, and the contrast is disgusting - blonde highlights with dark brown hair. So much for the 90s, right Carrie? There are parts of the highlight where she didn't do it close to the root - so it looks totally off in some areas. And the base color is all over the place - she obviously can't color match. It's light brown in some parts and dark in others. Not to mention the fact that my hair has been falling out and is so thin and fragile. I had thick hair before she touched my hair. Luckily, I found a professional who could help but I'm looking to spend at least another $200 to correct what she's damaged. When I told her about the issues, she simply said "I was giving you what you wanted." Um, no. You didn't give me what I wanted AT ALL. She can't even own up to her mistakes. This should tell you something. She offered to color and cut it again, but does she really think I'd want to go back to her again after this? I'm afraid that if I did, I'd be balding. I been having a very deceptive experience at this salon. I went to see them for a blond bob... After one wash it was completely yellow. At this point I understand it can happen, especially when they are beeing careful to not ruin my hair with the bleach. I called them back to have it redone cause it was truelly awful looking. Tessa as been amazing at taking me back and trying to fix it. Unfortunately, after hard work on her hand and many hours my hair turned out gray/light purple/blond...with some shades or Orange on the roots. I had to say I wasn't happy and I thought we could have come to a agreement that again it isn't working. She same upset at me and asked a co worker to look at it. The coworker got extremely RUDE to me, telling me that I was a difficult client and that I should just go do my hair somewhere else. I have been Polite all the way with them, I was just unhappy with reason about the result ( and believe me, everyone who saw my hair can't believe how BAD work it is ). I felt extremely shy by the terrible unprofessionalis of these ladies, the extreme rudeness. What would it have been to just have said " don't worry we will fix it again". I have long blonde hair and I'm very picky about my highlights. I have been to too many salons where the stylists put big obvious chunks of color or wait too long and end up with some areas white while others are barely highlighted. Carrie did a great job, took the time to wash out half of my hair first and the other half a little later to get the color even everywhere, and even added a couple low lights to keep it natural looking. The salon itself is cute, clean, and stocked with lots of snacks and drinks to munch on while you're waiting during the process.
