I debated writing this review for months, actual months, because I feel so bad saying something negative about a specific stylist who was overall very kind, but I have to because I was completely taken advantage of. I called asking about extensions and scheduling a highlight/lowlight with the consult. I had wanted to work with Hayley upon researching her work. I also mentioned I preferred Bellami extensions as I have had good experiences with them and didn't read many positive things about Laced. The manager informed me yes they could do Bellami as well. Hayley was lovely at the appointment and my color turned out wonderful. Then she told me she couldn't do Bellami but I could schedule with another stylist who does. Then why did they book my appointment with her?? Hayley talked me into Laced as the color options were wonderful and she assured me she has never had issues with the hair quality. When I went to pay the price was double what I was quoted. Hayley never mentioned any price difference or, more importantly, asked me if I approved it. I figured it was a mix up and payed and asked to schedule my extension install. Unfortunately she couldn't get me in for about 6 weeks but that happens. 3 days later when I shampooed my color was basically gone. I have never had color fade at all, let alone in 3 days. I was bummed. I for some insane reason went for my extension appointment 6 weeks later. She did not offer nor make time to recolor my hair, which at 6 weeks, even if it hadn't faded, was of course grown out. Once again, at the register, double what I was quoted, no mention of it during the appointment. IT IS NOT OK TO SPEND SOMEONE ELSES MONEY WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT! Yet I paid. Initially I thought they looked good but once I got home, she hadn't put nearly enough hair in. I needed almost double to not look like I had a mullet. So I myself purchased more hair from Laced. Then I get into inspecting my rows. These should be invisible bead rows. I could see every bead. The work looked nothing like the work she posts online. Again, let down. 48 hours later one row is slipping out. Happens on thin hair, but not once in my life in 48 hours, and I have been wearing extensions for 20 years. I made an appointment and she fixed it, with brown thread in my blonde hair which made it rather obvious. Repeat a week later. This time when I come in she states "I told the receptionist not to make you feel bad for booking appointments for fixes because that's what happens with thin hair". First, I didn't feel bad about expecting a service that costs a couple thousand dollars to be fixed (heck, done correctly to begin with), but with that I was done with her. To no one's surprise my rows sipped again in days. She also would leave the edges out so they poked through my hair as it is thin. When I pointed it out she refused to tie them down. This is not done with extensions. With all this I was done. I researched, practiced and bought supplies to put them in myself. Now I can go the normal expected time without them slipping. I feel very taken advantage of and a bit heartbroken that someone did this to me. Oh and while Laced aren't as bad as I heard, they shed a lot, which Bellami does not. Wouldn't recommend as there is no price difference. read more

It's a beautiful salon, located on 53rd Avenue in Bettendorf. It is also a L'Oreal Professional salon, and it has been designated an elite salon. I overreacted to a haircut there a couple of years ago, but I would recommend L'Oreal professional to anyone. I've tried to stick with the products, but it's hard to find a Loreal salon in the midwest or south. read more

I went in with a picture... stylists gotta love that, right?!? My long time stylist had sent me a picture and said I'd look great in this cut. I loved the picture!! ... my stylist tried, but did not deliver, so I made an appointment with Hailey at Salon Halo. She immediately consulted 2 other stylists and got their opinion. (it is a "complex" cut that I was seeking). She spent an hour and a half and was explaining what she was doing the whole way. She knocked it out of the park! I found Halo Salon after searching for a place to get my hair and makeup done for my wedding. I'm from Iowa but love in TX now but it had been awhile since I'd been back so I had some research to do because I'm a hair stylist myself and picky! After scrolling through their Facebook photos I made my decisions for Jessa for my hair and Leighla for my makeup. I saw Jessa first and she gave me the perfect volume and everything I had envisioned and beyond. She had a detailed touch and no hair was out of place. Then I went on to Leighla for makeup. She had me remove my makeup with a hot towel which was a nice touch:) The makeup brushes in her hands were magic wands, I felt like a Snapchat filter:) Now if only I had her to get me ready EVERY day! These ladies took the stress off me as I know they will work their magic on my big day to make me feel confident and beautiful! I had a horrible experience here. I had Savannah, and she failed to explain anything regarding my options around getting highlights and proceeded to give me a full highlight without explaining the option to get a partial (I do not know much about hair and was very confused overall). She proceeded to back tease every strand of my hair for highlights which was extremely painful to get done and then get brushed out. She did not communicate with me regarding how long I would be at the heater nor did she tell me what products were being put in my hair until I asked is when she then told me we needed to use a variety of toners as my hair turned out orange. Overall, I have never had worse communication during an appointment (especially for me as someone who does not know hair well) and have never had my hair back teased before for a highlight-extremely painful. I always tell my friends, if you go into a salon and everyone who works there (stylists, obviously, but receptionists too) has AMAZING hair, you know you've come to the right place! Halo specializes in hair painting techniques, and man does it show. If you want a true-to-form balayage/ombré/sombre this is THEE place to get it in the Quad Cities, in my opinion. The stylists are friendly, funny, and informative; excellent product ranges; and the Kate Spade-esque salon style always puts me in a happy place. I am in the business of doing video webinars so hair and makeup are everything. My hairstylist unfortunately was out due to an illness but I needed to get my haircut. I had heard good things about Salon Halo and I was impressed with the girls upfront. However, my stylist did not listen to anything I told her. I explained exactly what was needed and why it was critical not to change the style. I may as well not said a thing as she did not listen at all. I've never had service like this. I used to be a regular and I decided to change my stylist there and they wouldn't let me! They called me every day harassing me to make an appointment with the stylist I didn't want anymore! I was told that I was someone's "specific customer" and that the boy on the phone told me I couldn't change it. I hate this. I feel harassed, bullied, and overall disappointed. Horrible. For one the makeup trial I did was waste of $65. My face was so stiff and twice the shade darker from my body. Not even an 20 minutes into it, my face started to crease in and it basically looked as if I had mud on my face. My eyes were glued from the fake eyelashes, and the airbrush made me look like I just had a face lift. The eyeshadow was not even at all, or the eyeliner. There was a black dot on my face, and the "makeup artist," decided to use another layer of airbrush foundation. I was so distraught, I either was going to make a scene or leave. For such a "high end salon," it's a shame to not care when a new customer comes in just because they had their friend coming in to get their hair done. Also, I was told I was able to get all of my bridesmaids booked in, two ladies told me they had enough room, three others said NO. You would think if you worked there you would be able to know how your booking works. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you don't care about new clients, make sure you let it be known so people don't waste their time. Don't say one thing, and do another. If you got mad that your makeup skills are horrendous, don't take it out on a client. That's your fault! I do thank salon halo for doing me a favor and letting me know what a horrible business they run with bunch of snobby girls. Even the front desk person was horrified by my makeup done there.
