I didn't plan it--I just saw the salon, took a breath, and asked if they had space for a walk-in. Lauren, the owner, was the only one in that morning. She had just finished with a client earlier than expected and somehow made room for me without hesitation. I didn't ask for anything complicated--just a cut and style--but what I got was more than a haircut. The salon itself is clean, modern, and airy--comfortable in a way that puts you at ease without trying too hard. But it was Lauren's presence that made the real difference. From the start, she was warm and easy to talk to, and she genuinely welcomed my questions about her life, her business, and her travels. Our conversation was effortless, and being able to shift my focus onto someone so kind and grounded was exactly the kind of happy distraction I didn't know I needed. There were a few people who came in while I was there, hoping for walk-ins, and Lauren treated every one of them with kindness--even while making it clear, without words, that she was fully present with me. She held eye contact, stayed grounded, and somehow made me feel seen the whole time. To be honest, I had a pretty bad haircut experiences a few months prior, and I came in that morning carrying a lot of anxiety. Word of note: don't be afraid to discuss your budget. Saves a lot of dissatisfaction. They won't know it all if you don't come out and talk about it. If it's out of your price range, they can still give you your options. The whole staff had a great rapport too, and other customers with big expectations and complex requests were there, also expressing satisfaction as their services were done.
