Came here for an early morning styling pre-wedding on May 13, 2017. Very prompt and friendly staff. The girl who did my hair did an excellent job. She was able to conjure an updo as requested simply using my dress for inspiration. In the end it looked pretty and it didn't take up as much time to create as other salons would have. We were on a tight time frame and it took under an hour to do my do. :) My hair is medium/long and it cost $85.00 for the updo. Very happy and satisfied with the service here. If I ever am in the area again and in need of hair shenanigans, I'll be back! Happy do's! read more

I came here because of the amazing yelp reviews. When I walked in I was pleasantly greeted by the lovely staff and quickly taken back for my blowout. Diane took her time and listen to what I wanted and she produced an amazing result. I asked for volume and she delivered!!! By far one of the best blowouts that I have had to date. I formerly went to Salon 1100 around the corner and was very disappointed so I randomly tried Salon South. Best decision ever! Randomly went to Nicole for a consultation. She is an expert at her craft, my color looks amazing and my hair was a blotchy mess when I first came in. She did corrective color and I love my color now. The salon is clean, spacious and has free WiFi. Prices are fair for Westfield prices. Staff very very friendly and all very experienced. Plenty of parking with a pizzeria right next door to grab a slice while your hair is being colored. I'm glad I walked in there because this is a 5 star salon. read more

Website is very misleading. Under "hair styling" there is a column with different types of cut. At the top, it says, " women's cut" with a $55+ and $70+ next to it, in a row. There is no indication on the website what the different columns with dollar indicate. It is not clear what hair cut is 55+ and what is 70+. I made an appointment for my 96 year old mother, who is from out of state last minute. Like many 90+ year olds, my mother does not go to the salon as often as she should and it is a big deal for her to go as she is on a fixed income. We assumed the hair cut would be in the $55+ category as her hair is straight, short, and she only needed a wash, blow-dry, and cut. Nobody told us that her haircut would be $70+, not on the phone nor in person. After she had the haircut, she wanted the receipt. The receipt was not given to her at the hair salon and she has issues seeing and hearing. She paid for the appointment herself. I drove her there and back home. We had to call for the receipt and we were then informed that it was $70+ because of the skill level of the person cutting her hair. We would not have had the person cut her hair if we had been properly informed of the price. The salon did not advertise properly and took advantage of a customer who has issues seeing and hearing. They should have told me and my mother the price either on the phone or in person. They claim this has not happened before, in the last eight years of being open. But, I bet it has. I bet nobody has complained about their advertising, but somebody has felt taken advantage of before (bait and switch). They are very unethical. We asked to get $20 back, but the owner, who cut her hair said she would cut her hair for $55 in December. This is not acceptable. She lives out of state. We should have gotten money back. The owner, who did her hair, said she does not know how to do a credit. How pathetic! read more

Salon South is my favorite salon in NJ. Sonia cut my hair 3 times so far, and every time was perfect and just what I wanted. She is a master at what she does. Nicole and Brittany do really awesome blow outs, too. The owners are very welcoming, and the facility is clean and cozy. read more
