I really enjoyed my experience here for my first time, but their pricing threw me off a bit. I had an appointment with Tina for a haircut and full balayage. She was very knowledgeable and professional. Overall, my hair came out great and I love it, but when I got home I realized the balayage was only on my crown. None of the underneath layers were colored. I reached out the the salon to ask what I paid for ($377 in total) and they confirmed it was for full balayage. When I asked why there was no color on the under layers I was told they book and price by the hour, so I paid for the full hour of service and not necessarily full coverage balayage. I couldn't help but feel like I was overcharged, but like I said, I like the result. I went in hoping for full balayage, paid for full balayage and I still can't help but wonder what partial balayage would look like (and cost). But the salon did offer to refund their standard $30 for the misunderstanding. read more

She finishes each section with pin curls, giving your blowout incredible bounce and volume. And honestly--her blowouts are the only ones that last for days! I came here for a woman's haircut with Nicole. Love the way my hair came out. It's been 1 year since I got my last cut. I came here about 4 years ago and moved up north so I couldn't come back. I set an appointment online thru their website which was great. I got to see what stylist was available. So I was able to pick Nicole. They also texted me to confirm my appointment. Got there around 11:25am and the place looks awesome. Everyone was super friendly. I met with Nicole at exactly 11:30 She washed my hair and I did the conditioner treatment infused with lavender. I like this salon. Aesthetically it's beautiful and definitely has Manhattan vibes without the high cost. The staff is friendly and welcoming and it's very easy to book an appointment. I've been here twice but I don't know if this place has what I need. I have fine curly hair. On the first visit, I got a cut and gloss-that turned out pretty great but I walked out with soaking wet hair since I didn't get a blowout. I'll say that was my fault since I didn't ask for my hair to be dry. Once it was airdried the cut was really nice. On the second visit I got my hair singled colored to cover up some highlights and I asked for my hair to be dried curly. My stylist used a diffuser and my hair was so frizzy I legit looked like I put my finger in a socket. The color itself looked flat with no dimension. I ended up doing an at-home gloss to give it some life. Again that could be my fault, but I don't know the process for covering a base color with highlights. Again I like this place but I don't think it meets my needs and I'll be looking for a curl centered salon. read more

I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE FEW OTHER REVIEWERS HAD WITH MY HIGHLIGHTS. I WISH I READ SOME OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS NOW BEFORE I WENT THERE. I have really dark asian hair so I am aware that my hair is not the easiest to deal with. After some research I decided to give this salon a shot. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, after telling her about my hair she recommended a more skilled level 2 stylist Kaity who can handle my type of hair. After looking up her work on IG, I had high hopes that she will be able to give me something that I m looking for. My appt was on Saturday, the consult lasted less than 2 min, basically involves me showing the stylist pictures of want I wanted which is a honey blond balayage with some highlights to frame my face. She did tell me in advance that because my hair is very dark, I would need 3-4 sessions to get to the lightness I want. 3.5 hours later, the back of my head looked a little lighter than where I started, but the front two pieces were SUPER CHUNKY AND BRIGHT. Because I was running late to a family dinner, I didn't think much of it, I thanked her and left in a hurry. At the dinner, everyone was asking me WHAT HAPPENED to my hair. I thought I would give it some time and let the color settle a little. The next day, the highlights she did to frame my face looked even brighter and even yellower to me. Instead of the gradual fading balayage face frame highlight I asked for, it looked uneven and unfinished, not something that should cost $300+ dollars should look (in my opinion)‍. I called the salon and found out they are closed for Sunday and Monday which means I won't be able to get it fixed until Tuesday. The fact that I have an important meeting on Monday that leaves me no option but to seek help from another salon. Luckily the salon by my house was able to help me dye my hair back to dark brown. I contacted northernlights on Tuesday and told the owner Ashley exactly what happen and explained to her that I know my hair is not the easiest to deal with, and I understand that although the stylist tried to give me what I want, Unfortunately it did not come out the way I asked it to be. After spending $350 dollars at their salon, I had to spend more money and time to have it fixed the very next day. I told the owner that I understand things happen and the stylist probably did the best she can, for that reason I am not look for a full refund, however I think partial refund would be reasonable since I did have to spend more money to fix what was done by their salon. Well the owner basically told me straight up that i shouldn't have gone to another salon to FIX the hair they did (although they were closed until Tuesday), instead I should ve waited for them to open on Tuesday to have my hair fixed. therefore other than a $30 dollar credit they would give me for FUTURE services they will not give any refund since Their stylist did EXACTLY what I asked for(attached photos). I don't understand Why anyone with good sense of style would asked for what I got. My personal opinion: their service is way over priced based on the service they provided. And food for thoughts "Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning." I don't think anyone has the time and the energy to intentionally want to go through what I went through. Needless to say I will not be returning and they can keep the $30 dollar as an additional tip. read more

Came here for the first time and saw Jen for a hair cut and some brighter face frame pieces. She did balayage around my face to brighten it up and it came out awesome. She also gave me a great collarbone length cut which was a nice change from my longer locks. She was friendly but not too chatty. The salon was busy with some kind of L'Oreal event where people were receiving a complimentary styling and snacks/drinks. Looked like fun and the customers seemed satisfied. I was a little bit neglected when I was waiting for my highlights to process and would have appreciated an offer of a snack or a drink or a magazine. It was my first visit but I eventually located the magazine rack so I could occupy myself as I waited. Another thing I really liked was that Jen told me what she was doing each step of the process. I love being informed and it was super helpful. The pricing is reasonable and I didn't feel robbed when I left. $142 for a cut, balayage highlight face frame, and a blow dry. I was so excited to get a blow out here. Beautiful work! Unfortunately, I was charged an insane amount. It was very unclear at the beginning and misleading. My blow out was $26. So reasonable! $15 extra was charged because I asked for the brush to be rolled versus straight. The brushes didn't stay in my hair, and I'm sure it did not take so much extra time. To be charged $15 for this is insane. This is a bit more than half of the cost of a blowout. As much as I love my hair and the staff has clear talent, it's the misleading of services and charges I am beyond disappointed in. read more

After my haircut Maria said she'd go back in and refine the haircut and before I could even point out the areas I wanted cut, she knew! I have been coming to this salon since it opened a couple of years ago. I followed one of the owners, Ashley from her previous location. You can tell that a lot of thought went into designing the space, staffing and the products they carry because they just nailed in every way. They have even started emailing and texting you confirmations and reminders for you appointment which is so much more modern and works with peoples lifestyles now. I am faithful to Ashley since she has always known my style and gives me exactly what I want every time - but I have seen the work of the other girls and know that they are all phenomenal. You can get anything from a classy cut and color to a trendsetting new look here. I'm sitting here writing my review while my color processes, on their free wifi, enjoying a cup of coffee and a donut. They always have refreshments for their customers and you always feel like you're part of the family here. I am so thrilled with my experiences here that I've even hired Ashley and her team to do my hair and makeup for my upcoming wedding. I have never colored my hair before until I came to this salon. I wanted to get my first blonde balayage. The stylist Kaity showed me pictures and explained to me in detail what it would look like. She was really friendly and made me feel very comfortable especially since this would be my first time ever coloring my hair. My balayage came out great!! I get compliments everywhere I go asking who did my hair. I absolutely love it!! After a couple times of continuing having Kaity doing my balayage I ended up putting pink on the ends! It was such a great fun look for the summer. Would def recommend coming here and would 100% recommend Kaity. My wife did not want me to provide any sort of feedback from her experience at this salon. Both of us agree that we do not like to impact any business through our opinions; however, seeing how upset my wife is caused me to review this salon. My wife provided a clear photo of what she was looking for, but if you want to put a number (0-10) on how the stylist hit the mark I would give it a 0. Unfortunately, she will be forced to wear her hair back for the next few months. I am not going to mention the stylist, because I do not want to affect their business. They offered to refund us, but receiving $31 back does not make up for the fact that my wife will be unhappy with her hair for the next three to four months. They even offered to fix it, but that would mean making it even shorter (already 1.5 inches shorter than it should have been). Also, not only was the cut nothing like the photo shown, it is also much shorter than what my wife asked for. FYI - It is so bad my wife does not want to leave the house. She said she will just be miserable and wear it back for the next 3 - 4 months. My wife now looks like a 17 year old male skateboarder.... PROPER SOLUTION: Offer to properly put in hair extensions due to the fact of the short and bad haircut. read more

When I first came to her from my previous salon my hair was so badly damaged from poor technique and sheer bad skills, I thought I would never get my hair back to how it used to be. Rebecca, and everyone else at the salon, proved me wrong and brought my hair back to life ! I love her so much so that I trusted her skills on the most important day of my life , my wedding day, and the months leading up to my wedding to get my hair in tip top shape. So after I had a bad cut at my last Supercuts visit (yes I know) I decided that I should just suck it up and make an appointment at a salon to get my hair cut. I'm trying to grow out my hair which used to be pretty short and needed some length taken off but still be able to keep it looking nice as it grows. I pass northern lights all the time and the place looks nice. When I visited their site and saw the pricing was super reasonable I made an appointment for a Saturday. I show up and the girl at the desk was really nice, gave me some coupons and incentives for being a new customer and told me my stylist would be out in a little bit. Waited for about 10 minutes (I was early) and she came out and greeted me. We went to her chair and I told her my situation, super awful damaged ends but am growing it out and i was open to what she thought would work. Get shampooed and off to work she went...now let me say my stylist was not friendly at all. We didn't speak 2 words the entire time and I don't know if that was her personality, she had a long/bad day, whatever. I was just hoping to have a overly positive first experience here. But, she did a complete BANGING job on my hair which I love and got tons of compliments later that evening at a party. So would I rather have someone who's overly friendly but do an ok job than someone who gives me a amazing though muted experience? Ha, no brainer...I'll be back! read more
