Terrible experience my hair is colored three different colors and after the reality set in that this was not what I wanted after about 24 hours I called the salon and I'm not even sure who I spoke with but she was very rude and disrespectful. I can say that I asked for a refund and the girl told me that she would have to talk to the owner to even make that happen most companies when you do a service for a customer and it's not what they asked for they offer a refund apparently that's not the case with this company I would not recommend them!! read more

Stylist Madison did a great job with my haircut. I don't get it cut often and it was in bad need of a shape up before a wedding I'm attending in a few days. She took my home cut () that had grown out to be pretty shaggy and turned it into beautiful cut with face framing and plenty of layers. She took her time and did an excellent job. It took a while, but my hair always takes a long time because it takes forever to dry and it's long, so blending the face framing and layers requires some extra attention. Salon is nicely decorated and the music wasn't too loud. Some salons blare the music, but this one was very low key. read more

Two Different stylists, two different times...... can't follow directioNS and the color was not great . Disappointing for an Aveda salon

I rarely give anyone a poor rating but after letting it sink in for a few hours, I have decided I must. I went for a haircut. Went in with 8 inch long hair and came out with sides completely mowed and top butchered to a point that I will be getting them mowed just so it looks even. Had called for an appointment and was told that one of the stylist, Joseph, is available all day. That right there should have been a hint. Typically, it's hard to get appointment with a decent stylist the same day. My hair needed cut so I chose to go in. Bad mistake that I will live with for a few months till my hair regrow. Joseph was more interested in showing how quick he is with scissors and trimmers but not too worried about the quality of work. I told him not to take off too much and he said we will start with little and go from there. That never happened. He went straight for the trimmers. I will never ever go back again. If you like your hair and want to keep them avoid Joseph. To be safe, avoid this place. I sure plan to. read more

Moved here a few months ago and tried this salon but in the Fairhope location with Whitney. Oh my goodness, staff is so nice welcoming. Whitney is very nice , patient, listens to what your trying to achieve. My hair always feels so good and healthy when I leave. This Salon would be so convenient for my schedule with such a great location. But it has a confining arrangement with each station facing the center so hairdressers and clients literally "have their backs against wall" Each mirror of each station closes off any sense of openness. It felt cramped, even though there is an open area in the center of the room, but it isn't visible from the chair. So the ambiance is not one of relaxing open space, but cramped confinement. Canned music was irritating and too loud to talk over, which also was not a relaxing atmosphere. No beverages were offered. I requested an inverted bob but got a straight bob. It was a good cut for straight bob, but that wasn't what I requested. The shampoo was very relaxing, great head/neck massage. It was the best part of the appointment! Price was very reasonable because it was my first visit. The salon offered a first timer discount. I've been to several Aveda Salons in multiple cities. This salon in not pretty, no use of color. No interesting objects or decor. No interesting textures, or fabrics or even pretty light fixtures. It has a very basic look in both the exterior and interior, no sense of being "upscale" if that is what you were hoping for in an Aveda Salon. My stylist was very open about being pregnant, unwed and having no commitment from her boyfriend. I pitied her. She is headed for an uphill struggle trying to make it as a single mom on a hairdresser's salary. Besides not getting the cut I asked for and the other issues mentioned, I know my empathy for her situation at any future appointment would cause me to generously pay more than I would be charged. I would prefer to be generous with a stylist who is creative, listens and applies their skill well. This stylist's unwise choices will impact the rest of her life. I don't want to feel sad coming to this salon that is without beauty for the eye, not a relaxing atmosphere, and feeling sad for the stylist's plight at every visit. I still want an angular inverted bob with the stacking beginning at the occipital bone, as I had described. But I'll be looking somewhere else. read more

Highly recommend this salon! They will work with your schedule along with great products that are not damaging to your hair, and the absolute best stylist in town. It is the most relaxing time where they offer a one stop with all the services needed from head to your toes - brows, lashes, hair, and nails, making it convenient. You can even go in with short hair and come out with long as they offer hair extensions! They have locations in Fairhope and Spanish Fort. Joel just gave me the best perm I have ever had in my life. He is clearly very experienced as he rolled up it quickly and efficiently. I really appreciated his attention to detail, from choosing just the right perm to use, to rinsing, rinsing, and rinsing some more to be sure I got the best possible results. DO NOT GO TO ANY OTHER AVEDA SALON!!!! The owner came in to color correct my hair that Salon 5400 not only messed up but Salon 5400 manager told me that they could not correct it before I left for vacation and that the stylist would call me. Which never happened. You will get a professional top notch hair care at Salon 31.. The owner is so engaged about great service that she actually spent the time to educate me every step of the way. By the time she was finished with my hair half of her team was watching her work on me and talk to me along with other customers. I even cried when I looked in the mirror out of sheer excitement and happiness. Please do your hair due diligence ....if you are going Aveda go here. read more

COMPLETE RIP OFF! My sixteen year old daughter wanted your average, basic highlights, nothing fancy. She's had them many times before, as well as I, so we were accustomed to the "going rate". I use a rather upscale salon, but my daughter was in a pinch to get her hair done before prom. Unfortunately she ended up here. They charged this poor child $260 for highlights!! TWO HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS!!! I've been getting my highlights done my entire adult life at some of the best salons there are, and I've NEVER come close to paying that. That stylist saw a naive sixteen year old coming a mile away. SHAME ON YOU!! Zero stars. read more

I'm so happy that I acted on a whim to check this place out or I wouldn't have met Lindsey Griffith. Lindsey took her time to find out what I wanted which was basically a miracle. I had all but given up on trying to keep color on my color-resistant gray roots. I'd get my hair done and in less than two weeks my roots were back in all their glory taunting me for foolishly wasting my time and money on trying to get rid of them. Really so frustrating. Lindsey patiently listened to me. She asked all the right questions and then she came up with a solution. I decided to put my trust in her capable hands. So, so, glad that I did!!! Lindsey's expertise in blending highlights and lowlights into my roots made them all but disappear ..kinda like a root camouflage. I've had this technique done before but never this successfully. Heck, I'd be surprised if my roots show up around here anytime soon. In fact, Lindsey suggested that I schedule my next appointment in 8 weeks. I want to believe in miracles as much as the next gal but 8 weeks? Come on, that would be on the loaves and fishes level of miracles. Probably not going to happen considering I've never gone longer that 5 weeks between color treatments. So we're shooting for 6 weeks from today. Fingers crossed... Now, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Lindsey is equally gifted at cutting hair. I walked out of that salon with one of the best haircuts I've ever had! She is the complete package!!!!
