NEVER...and I mean NEVER get your hair colored here! All I wanted was purple ambre in my hair. Victoria charged me $300 so I was assuming the color would be pretty damn good. It came out red pink the first 4 hour session. She had me come back and try TWICE more. The second time, I spend 4 hours again and when they took the dye out my hair was alllllll the origonal brown hahaha...... and when I came back for the 3rd 4 hour session, it came out purple with light spots everywhere. On top of it all, I called and asked "respectfully for a refund" and her prissy self had the nerve to argue back with me and say " I actually lost money on this". She legit ruined my hair....$300...what a joke lol! read more

Deanna brought my hair back to life. I booked an appt day-of for a trim. While talking with her about my hair dislikes of my current color, cut, and concerns of my time restraint (I had work in 2 hrs) she suggested I tone my hair and cut off the dead ends. I showed her one photo of a cut I liked and that was enough. She understood exactly what I needed. Once she was finished, My hair looked and felt amazing. I walked out of the salon with time to get to work without feeling rushed. Typically I would have spent a full day and $400 getting my hair highlighted, toned and cut. Honestly, my experience couldn't have been better. Teal took the time to understand exactly what I needed and how I needed it and I could tell she was being very thoughtful about every snip. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! I went in for a balayage and I asked for a light brown/caramel and my hair ended up blonde. She also put about four foils in it, like barely anything at all. I was there for less than 2 hours and got charged $220. And then she messed up my cut so bad. I had to go to a different salon to fix both the color and the cut and the woman looked at my hair and said "yeah I don't know what's going on here". When she was fixing my cut she was actually laughing at how uneven and choppy it was. read more

On February 7th Deanna gave me exactly what I was looking for, some really subtle highlights and the most fabulous cut!!! I wanted something in the longer bob style with some layers to help manage the thickness and weight of my hair that drags it down about 4 weeks into my cut, so I am usually at the point of wanting a headband to control it by week 6. Well, I am now almost at the end of week 10!!! And I still have some shape to the cut and no headband needed yet! Im new to the area and took the plunge and made an appointment for a cut and color. Luis helped me out and did an amazing job transforming my light brown hair into a deep chocolate. It was my first time dying my hair and I have zero regrets; Luis was amazing!! He listened carefully to what I said about the cut I wanted and did a great job. After sleeping on my new hair, I wasn't crazy about the length and layering so I called to see if I could come back for a tweak. They squeezed me in within the hour and Victoria adjusted the cut perfectly to what I was envisioning. I had a great experience here. I made a last minute appointment with Robin to fix a truly awful haircut, and am absolutely blown away! She gave me a long pixie that I am over the moon about! Super courteous staff; I had to wait ten minutes and everyone in the salon was extremely apologetic about it and asking if I needed anything. Robin listened to exactly what I was looking for and checked in as she was cutting to make sure I was still ok with how short she was cutting, that I still liked the look that was developing. Once she had finished the cut and dry, she made sure again to ask if I was happy with the cut, if I wanted anything thinned out or shorter, and to ensure that I was as excited about the cut as she was. Honestly, I walked in still steaming mad about a horrible cut I had received a week previous, and walked out hugging Robin and bouncing out the door. Love Rumor's. Both Rachelle and Natalie give aaaah-mazing haircuts. I've gone here religiously for about 5 years. They provide the type of haircut that leaves you looking fabulous, even when you're home styling your hair on your own. I've realized that sometimes that's difficult to find in a haircut. I've also had my hair colored here with each visit and I've always been impressed. Sadly, I've moved and Rumor's is a bit of a hike for me so I am looking for a Rachelle replacement in my neck of the woods. So far, no luck. read more

Salon Victoria is my go to salon! Such friendly staff, awesome services and they have their own amazing products for sale! They even offer Champagne on Saturday's with any service! I go here for my eyelash extensions by Rylee who takes her time and does an exceptional job and she always makes sure i'm happy with them before I leave! Victoria is my hairstylist and she gives amazing washes and blow drys and is always supportive with whichever crazy color I want to make my hair next (it's purple right now!) Needed a new, local hairdresser. Called Rumors out of the blue since it is located nearby. They gave me an appointment with Cara for a cut and color the following day. I just got back from my appointment and I am extremely impressed. I met Cara and explained to her what I thought I'd like and I left the rest up to her. My hair looks amazing!! I love both the cut and the color she chose. The woman who shampooed my hair did a great job as well. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and the price can't be beat either. awful and unprofessional salon. i would never recommend to anyone! I went in for blonde highlights and ended up with an array of orange red and brassy fried hair. They almost sent me home that way until the stylus started crying and the owner put a toner on it only to leave me with the new array of nasty blonde orange red brown and dark brown hair I went in a few weeks later to try and get some of the red and orange out only to end up with black hair. This was the biggest waste of time energy and money spent in my life. read more

I go see Cara for my eye lash extensions and hair. She does an unbelievable job! I get compliments on my eye lashes daily! A lot of people are nervous, but I highly recommend them. I have had them on for almost a year and don't plan on taking them off anytime soon. I hardly have to wear any make up and still look like I have it on. They are so easy, painless and totally worth it! She also cuts and colors my hair and it comes out amazing. ***I know the salon is under new ownership, and I don't want the new owners to suffer because of previous management. I wrote this review in 2012. The new owner reached out to me to ask if I'd like to come back and give them a shot - I live outside Winthrop now so can't take them up on that, but I wanted to post about that positive experience so others can give them a shot!*** Despite everything else I'll say below, at the end of it, the hair cut wasn't terrible! I had been thinking about moving to a salon in Winthrop for the entire three years I've lived in town. I finally called Rumors based on the Yelp reviews. They were very friendly and quick setting up the appointment, and I was really looking forward to going on a rainy Friday in the late afternoon. First thing when I walked in, there was a kind of a weird smell like dirty diapers, but I figured it was a chemical and ignored it. Then the girl behind the desk didn't greet me - she was busy chatting with the only other customer in the place who was paying for her services. The only other person in the salon was someone else who worked there who was cleaning up -- she didn't greet me either. It was silent as a tomb. So I sat in the waiting area for a few minutes while no one acknowledged me -- the girl at the desk and the customer just kept on chatting like I wasn't even there, talking loudly about townie ridiculousness, which I wouldn't even mind if anyone had even bothered to say hello to me! Finally, they said goodbye and the girl behind the desk stands up and looks at me, gives me a brief hello -- apparently she's going to be my stylist. Maybe I had my hair cut for too long down on Newbury so I've come to expect that a stylist will ask me to sit down in their chair and talk to me about my hair before anything happens. Nope, this girl just escorts me to the sink first thing. On the way back to her chair, I tripped on the step because I didn't see it and the girl didn't even bat an eye, ask if I was okay, nothing. It was like the Twilight Zone. Then we get to the haircut -- I'm an adult, and I know my hair and myself very well. I explained, I don't want to cut it too short and not too many layers. She cut two inches off of my hair and put layers in it. When she was done cutting, I actually said, "Oh, wow, that's really short," and she defensively responded, "I only cut 2 inches off." I'm in marketing for a living, and I deal with customers from small to big, and if someone is unhappy or expresses a little distress at a product, you better believe I'm going to win them over. Nope, clearly, I'm the idiot because I consider 2 inches to be a lot of hair. After that, the girl basically said six words to me. Like I said at the beginning, the cut came out fine, but, like I had told her, it was too short and had too many layers so I've had to let it grow and wear it pulled off my face for a long while now. I was going to write this review immediately, but I decided to wait a while and see if I changed my mind -- but I'm still aggravated every time I go by their salon. It is easy to get an appointment and they are always on time. Rachelle has been cutting my hair for about 3 years now, and I'll never go anywhere else, she is fantastic. Second worst mens haircut I have ever had for a chick simply using trimmers. It was uneven and sloppy. I even went back to have her touch it up and it is still not right. Also, they do not take credit/debit cards because the owner says it cost them too much money for processing cards. Yet they have signs taped all over the mirrors about raising their prices due to the cost of doing business!!! Go figure!! You get what you pay for at this place. read more

Love love love Robin! She is amazing and I wish she lived in Denver so it was easier to get my hair done by her!!! I'm based in Boston and when I have a day to spare I always call Rumors last minute which I hate to do, but Robin has always gotten me in. For that I'm very grateful. The last few months I was unable to get to her for a trim and suffered by going to two stylists back home in Denver who did a real number on my hair. One chopped my bangs right off, the other razor cut me entire head and left me with a pretty funky cut. Had to let it grow out a few months and Robin was able to fix me right up yesterday. Styled my own hair today and for the first time in 5 months it actually looks great and it's evened out nicely! Robin truly is a fabulous stylist with talent and I will now make sure I have time in my calendar to book with her! Her prices are competitive and fair! Love rumors and I love my cut! read more
