We're coming in on year 7 since I've started doing balayage on my hair. It's been a journey finding the right place and the right stylist, especially after moving around so much... but I think it's safe to say after getting treatments in the northeast, in the DMV, and in Asia, I've finally found my place (yay!!!!!) I truly wish I had found this salon when I first moved. I scheduled an appointment with Ellie, and I just had a feeling she knew exactly what to do with my hair with my little guidance: partial, even out tone, and have a balayage that complements my skin tone. She did just that. And in record breaking time of 2.5 hours? I'm usually at the salon for 3+ hours. I'm hypersensitive to smells, so it was really kind that they were able to provide me a mask. They also offered beverages, and I opted for green tea! Lastly one of the coolest things is when they're washing your hair they have a seat recliner so that your legs are relaxed ! I've only seen this in Asia so that was really awesome to have! They had a special for 15% off during the month of October so I was really lucky to receive a good price as well. After my initial review of my partner's first experience here, the owner, Fadi, immediately reached out. Like within minutes. I called the salon and the manager Sebastian was very apologetic and quick to help. Fadi then called me back and offered to correct the service for free if she wanted to give them another shot. Needless to say Fadi and his team went above and beyond to ensure she got exactly what she wanted the first time. It's a night and day difference. He was so kind and the smile on her face after he finished cutting and coloring her hair was worth it. I'm confident she will return to see Fadi. Maybe we chalk the bad first experience up to an off day or a miscommunication with the first stylist? Either way, hats off to Fadi and Sebastian for their service. My hair felt fresh, bouncy and was cut the length I asked for (every girl's fear when going somewhere new is leaving with a different length they envisioned). I've been going to Salon Virage for years now, and always book with Sam. Sam is fantastic: he does amazing, natural looking color and balayage. He's great at answering questions and making recommendations (I've come to him with questions about scalp sensitivity, layering vs. texturizing, covering up gray hair, dealing with "pool hair," etc.) He is also a really nice, funny person, so I always enjoy my appointments. This review is going to be a bit long because of the circumstances of my visit to this beautiful salon so bare with me. I'm attending a wedding in New York and flew in to DCA to visit my daughter and then up to the wedding. Before we left the state of our residence, I went to a salon for a color, cut, and style. The salon that did my hair absolutely destroyed it and didn't even bother to cut it in the style I asked for and the color was completely wrong. My husband found Salon Virage in hopes they could help me on short notice. The staff was completely understanding and made room for an appointment for my hair "emergency". I was greeted immediately and my stylist, Christina listened to every word of my horror story. She took the time to ask questions, listened, made incredible suggestions, and a 20 minute consultation before she got to work. The color she did was even better than what I thought would look good. The cut was the best cut I've ever gotten in my nearly 60 years of life. The shampoo woman, the staff, the other stylists, and even the owner was so nice and attentive. To say that Christina is a miracle worker is not an understatement! I'm on my way to the wedding now but wanted to take the time to write a review for this salon. So the first time I went here I got a trim to my angled bob with Hanna. It was awful- the layers weren't blended and it looked like I had shelves. Plus it grew out horribly. Next time I decided to try Lauren. The cut is ok, kinda blah and not the types of layers I really want but perhaps it's because she had to fix the mess up from before. The blond color, however, is so bad. My highlights look unnatural but what's worse is that the touch up looks super brassy, no toner was put in it afterwards. I wanted it to be neutral not warm or cool. It looks like i did it at home with a kit. Plus whatever color brand they use was unnecessarily rough and damaged my hair moreso than any other place I've been. UPDATE: I've been going back to HANAN ever since my first visit. She ALWAYS does an amazing job!! Today was my third time seeing her and it definitely won't be my last. This time she knocked it out of the park! I came in with a picture and an unsure idea of what I wanted so HANAN took initiative and I am in looooove with the final result!!! I recommend this salon for all your hair needs but most of all, I highly recommend HANAN as she does a great job every time and takes PRIDE in her work!!! ------------------------------------------------ I had my consultation and appointment with HANAN and she is amazingggg. At my consultation I wanted to know the pricing on balayage and she sat me down and broke down the prices. My hair was an ombré gone WRONG. It was so uneven and patchy and literally had 4 different colors in it. I came to the apt 20 mins late bc traffic was just horrible and she still did my hair even though her next apt was coming in 30 mins later. Mind you balayage takes a very long time!!! BUT she managed to squeeze me in and was so nice about it. I don't think that any other stylist would do that so I was so grateful that she did. As for my hair, I came in with horrible ombré and showed her a picture of a really nice icy blonde balayage and she said she would get my hair as light as possible but it was not going to be icy blonde unless I did another session. I've gone to Salon Virage twice now and both times were great! The staff is all really nice and they understand exactly what I want. I feel comfortable putting my hair in their hands. The salon itself is decorated nicely and is kept quite clean. It's gives off the elegant vibe without looking too expensive and flashy. My second time going I had Fadi who has been cutting hair for about 20 years and he did an excellent good. He understood what I wanted and knew what would work best for my hair which was helpful. Edited after 4 visits. I saw Fadi for color correction on black-orange-ish ombre hair (to make it a softer blend of browns). The first appointment was so promising: my roots were still too dark, but the highlights were the right color. 2nd appointment went wrong: I wanted my roots to be a medium brown - but walked out blonder highlights on the same black root. 3rd appointment was an attempt to fix- Fadi put a brown on my roots - which came out very muddy. Next day I still had almost black roots. Then I performed a full color extraction at home, and lifted my roots by 3-4 shades, to a level 7-ish, with orange hues. Then 4th visit - to ask for a medium/light brown root, which I thought should now be easy, given that my hair was already lifted. In spite of my multiple warnings (that the color looked too dark), I walked out with the same almost black roots, and brassy highlights. I was persistently told my roots were a light brown (which they absolutely aren't - check my pic). I thanked and left because there was nothing else left to do. My hair has been through so much, left dry and brittle. And yet it looks as bad as it did before all of it. On top of it, I spent money and a ton of time (that should have been spent with my 5-month old baby). Still there are positives here: 1) Fadi and staff are SUPER nice and honestly they try (i.e. I was charged for only 2 out of 4 visits - which speaks to the shop's integrity) 2) in my first visit- the cut and styling I received in the end was awesome 3) they really try hard to minimize damage to your hair. In sum, I cannot recommend for color correction due to communication and/or skill issues but there is some goodness here. read more

I found Fadi arrogant.They were about to wash my hair before I even met him! I had to ask to consult with him. He didn't introduce himself. He loudly chewed gum the whole time. Cuts hair sopping wet and I left with damp clothes. Cuts very fast, I think he thinks it makes him look like a pro, however I found the cut uneven and I had to trim it myself when I got home. It was even worse after I first washed it. For a $70 cut I'd expect a lot more. I actually went to a different salon 3 days later for a recut! I paid $105 for that but it is SO much better. Check out Sara Kim at Dolce Vita Salon in Tysons, she and Moira Grasso are 2 of the best stylists around. I will never stray again to save a few bucks! read more
