After many disappointing meals in Seville, we stumbled across Salpicón by accident while walking through the small streets of the city. It turned out to be the best food we had during our entire stay. I believe they're still in their soft opening phase, which makes the experience even more impressive.
We asked the chef to surprise us with whatever dishes he wanted to make, and every single one was full of flavor -- a refreshing change from the otherwise bland meals we'd had since arriving in Seville.
Food: 4.5/5
Truly flavorful, thoughtful dishes. Easily the culinary highlight of our trip.
Dessert: 4/5
The complimentary cheesecake was light and pleasant -- not overly sweet, though a bit simple.
Ambiance: 4/5
The space is charming and cozy, though it could use better ventilation -- there was a noticeable fried oil smell at times. Also, it was a bit warm inside.
Service: 5/5
Our waiter, who I believe is the chef's brother, was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. The complimentary dessert and sherry were a thoughtful touch.
Wine/Coffee Options: 3.5/5
They could expand their wine selection, and they didn't have coffee available during our visit.
Overall: 4/5
In absolute terms, I'd give this place a strong 4 stars. But relative to everything else we tried in Seville, it's a 10. Highly recommended if you're looking for food that actually delivers on flavor. read more
