Got my boys haircuts here after having a bad experience elsewhere earlier this year. Since then I've been giving them haircuts myself, but that was always a long, stressful and tantrum-filled ordeal that I dreaded. Called ahead to make their appointments since it's not a kids shop & I didn't think they'd sit so well, & I asked for Sal after seeing reviews. Everything I thought they wouldn't be okay with (sitting on the high seat, clippers, sitting still) they did great with. Neither of them so much as cried once. Sal is just that great with kids. My two year old was dancing around & happy after his cut, & my four year old was saying "I love haircut" the whole way home. I left feeling really happy with my experience & we will be back soon. AUTISM FRIENDLY! We have a 7-year-old boy with Autism and had struggled for years to find a good barber who could cater to his needs. Haircuts used to be a major trigger for significant emotional meltdowns for our little guy. Luckily, we had a friend do his cuts in home at our last duty station (I am Active Duty military), but we were worried about what we were going to do when we were transferred to Florida in 2015. I first met Sal at the Patrick AFB barber shop. He and our son hit it off immediately. We can relate to Sal because he also has a child with Autism. Not only did Sal give our son the best haircuts he's ever had, he lets him play with his "hair vacuum" when his cut is done. You WILL NOT find a better barber for your kids than Sal!! read more

Moved here a couple years ago and just hopped from one barber to another, like Bruce Banner wandering aimlessly to find the cure for a bad haircut. I stumbled into Sal's one day with little hope but in desperate need of a trim. Chris was able to give me the cut I wanted. No the cut I needed. I walked out of there with my head held high. I took all my hats and threw them in the trash. Why cover up a work of art? All the barbers here know what they are doing. They also have loads of patience. And the price is much better than others in the area. read more

I went through over 10 barbers in the Melbourne, Florida area before finally finding Sal. After finding him, my search finally ended! Sal is never in a rush for his next customer, makes you feel at home, and gives a great cut with scissors or fade with a razor. Also, his shop is in great shape and has a welcoming atmosphere for everybody. Found this barber shop by word of mouth. They had a reputation of treating military very well and have proved it for the past year I've been here. I have been recommending this shop to countless friends as the service is beyond what I've seen at other shops in the area. I live on Patrick AFB and I could walk to get a haircut and Sal was my Barber their. He was the only one that got my hair cut right every time. I now drive out to Suntree to get a haircut, its worth the drive. Great guy and great barber. My grandfather was a barber and I get the old time barbershop from Brooklyn feel got when I was growing up. read more

For some time, I was worried they were disappearing because of the rise of chains like Supercuts and Hair Cuttery, but the local "mom-and-pops" are still around and I am always going to support them. JJ Barber Spa (will shorthand to "JJ" for the remainder of this review) is located on Bayside Lakes Blvd. in the same strip mall as my low-end reviewed Papa John's, across the street from the Publix Plaza. I have been back twice already and my barber, Tyler, does an excellent job cutting my hair and lining/shaving my beard. Best barbers always know how to engage with their clientele, especially regulars who have them starred on their phone list. You gotta trust your barber because he (or she) knows how to make you look damn good. Tyler and I usually engage over anything and everything thus making the barbering experience more enjoyable. Yet, I know when to shut up like when he has a cutthroat razor lining my beard. And since I do have some barber schooling, I can tell by looking around the other barbers do a fine job too. I can't really say much about the nail salon part of the spa on weekends, but if you're into nails, you now know there is an option. What I want to know is how far the barbers are allowed to go in following the style the Turkish or Indian barbers do their thing. Always tip more than well for the barber who makes you look good but if they did "cosmic head massages," well hot damn. Overall, great place to get a haircut. Clean with its own personality in decor. Unsure about the restrooms because I did not have to use them whenever I am there. And the price fits the service. Excellent work means a pricepoint that deserves it averaging $30. Once again, tip your barber well because he (or she) knows how to make you look good.
