My fiancé kept pushing for dance lessons but little did she know I was terrified of performing in-front of an audience. 3 weeks before our wedding I had no where to hide and agreed to come in to the dance lessons to learn simple steps & positions. Everyone was so warm and welcoming at introduction, made me feel better but still out of my element. Our instructor / teacher was Dimitry, to say he was amazing is an understatement. From first 5 min in to our session I was no longer on edge.. I was actually having fun .. the entire class is fun and he never makes you come out of your comfort zone. Fast forward 2 lessons I was looking forward to my wedding and showing off my dance moves. I'm the worst author / narrator but trust me if you want to learn how to dance a special dance or just practice with famous dancers this is the place!!! In university at USF I took a semester of ballet and the teacher complimented my technique as being the best one in the class, all thanks to the wonderful education I received at academy of arts. Now in 2025 my 3 year old daughter is taking classes and is enjoying every class. My mother, daughter and I recently went to the Christmas show and we were so proud to experience the show. It was such a great show, still professional and beautiful. 13 years later and Academy of Arts is still producing wonderful dancers. They were also touched without consent when we went through the haunted house, which we had no idea was going to be a part of it. Someone else bought our tickets for us and invited us, so we had no idea what we were getting into as we trusted them (not their fault either). They really need to warn people more about these kinds of things that can affect those with disabilities rather than it just being raunchy and scary.
