I get Salsa Fresca about once every 3 months on the way home from PF in Lagrange. Food is always good. People who work there are friendly and helpful. At the end of the day, this is a fast-food place so comparing it to a Mexican restaurant that's twice as pricey isn't fair. We haven't been by in a few months and decided to grab dinner. We were in the area and were in the mood for something we hadn't had in a while. We both decided to try the rice bowls. I usually get nachos and my fiancé usually gets a burrito but it was time to change it up. The rice bowl was actually huge. There are lots of toppings you can add at no additional charge plus others for a fee such as guac. Obviously I got guac because I love it. I got the pork bowl and it was tasty. You could barely see the pork under all the veggies. I was very full after this meal. Everything was really good. The only thing they need to improve is the flavor of the Mexican rice. It's really bland and the rest of the toppings are needed to make it better. I also didn't get the sour cream or salsa I requested on my bowl. It wasn't a huge deal. Food was basic Mexican food definitely a downgrade from chipotle. When I went there they had no teas or lemonade made and the drink cooler was almost empty. This is a growing chain, and this store is, at the moment, their farthest north. It's still fairly new at this point. The staff behind the counter isn't quite a well-oiled machine just yet, but they certainly aren't an army of chaos either. The line moved quickly, the ingredients looked and tasted fresh, and I was impressed at how well they could roll up a burrito with that much in it. A plus: Fountain drinks from Boylan Bottling, a company that uses only cane sugar in their sodas. And you could tell by the taste, that birch beer was so good. A minus: For a business that has the word SALSA in its name, the amount of salsa you get with your chips when eating in is ridiculously small, in a little plastic container that holds at most 1/4 cup. C'mon, there's other "Mexican Grill" chains (who don't even have the word SALSA in their name) who have a whole salsa bar available for your meal. I shouldn't have to scrape the insides of a plastic ramekin to get the last drop. Still, this is a nice and refreshing (or fresca) add to dining in the immediate vicinity. read more

There's a reason this Salsa Fresca is my go-to in the area! Aside from a Lagrange location, this is really the only other one in Dutchess County. Salsa Fresca has the same type of concept as Chipotle but much better in my opinion. They offer types of meals Chipotle doesn't have, like quesadillas and nachos, types of meat Chipotle doesn't have, like BBQ Beef, and a commitment to sustainability that Chipotle doesn't have! Portions are always big and there are many many toppings to choose from. Can't say I've ever had a bad meal here, and the $6 Student Special is awesome! Just $6 for ANY menu item! The Big Plus: Salsa Fresca gives you FREE CHIPS & SALSA with every order while still being cheaper than Chipotle. I really wish I could describe Salsa Fresca without mentioning Chipotle, but since they're clearly the superior version of Chipotle in every way, I have to! My only complaint: no pinto beans. I'd become used to them at Chipotle and miss the option for a second bean, but that's a minor complaint. Had a mostly great experience here. They have great choices, but a simple menu. Nice value for what you get. The manager on duty was fantastic - we needed a veggie burrito and they were out of the peppers/onions mixture they use, so he cooked up a batch fresh for us. Then they STUFFED the burrito so full we didn't think he'd be able to properly wrap it - but we were amazed that he did! We also ordered a side of beans which were very flavorful. The cashier and some of the other staff seemed very distracted and apathetic- but that manager - he was outstanding. Everything tasted fresh and it was very filling! We actually shared the burrito and it was plenty. Free chips and salsa come with the meal. Chips were good, the salsa is a bit too 'tomato-y' for me, but that's personal preference. My friend and I came a half hour before closing. Staff was polite and were not moody despite us showing up so close to the time they close, actually the place was pretty full. We went to their soft opening on 1/12/19, and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was busy, and owners and staff we very pleasant. The staff was willing to tell us exactly what was in each choice, and they made our selection as requested. Food was hot, flavorful, and delicious. Servings were large and filling. Nice soda choices that are made with real cane sugars, not corn syrup. This is a nice change from most fast food restaurants. We were very happy with everything, and plan on returning. It's definitely a classier version of Tacobell but the Walmart version of Chipotle. Most of the time, anything you order is going to taste the same, no matter what you get on it. This is one of the few Mexican restaurants that I would not get queso from because it's thick and clumpy enough to break any chip you try to dip into it. It's not so much the staff's fault because I think it's just the way the queso is, but 3 out of the 8 times I went there, staff was scraping all of the hard pieces off the bottom to put in my cup.
