Everything! We do take out from there a lot. Order directly. Saves you money and they will have uber eats do the drop off. They do gluten free really well, if you can switch the shells to GF then they can do the insides that way for that dish. Hubs is celiac and we are happy. He's loving the burritos. Anthony's customer service was on point. He was rockin' solo answering phones and taking orders, and my faith in the food service industry was reinvigorated. Also- Chris makes amazing dishes. My smoothie was extra smooth. My butternut squash soup was decadent and tasty. Why would I order a soup and a smoothie at the same time? Not the point. It's been a couple of years since my last visit. I definitely love that they have gluten free options and have a great variety of burritos. I do, however, think that it's a bit pricey. When you order a burrito, be careful because it's not actually a burrito unless you add a shell for an additional cost. That goes for all shells, not just gluten free. Otherwise you get a "naked burrito" which doesn't seem like a burrito if you ask me. We almost made that mistake and would have been upset. Overall, the burrito is a decent size but gets pricey once you add the shell. Also the flavors are just okay. Definitely would have enjoyed the flavors being kicked up a notch. Really awful tasting food. Ordered the pulled pork quesadilla online that had no business being served to anyone. Soggy, strange flavors. If it was just my order that tasted off that's one thing but my entire family ordered different dishes and all experienced the same disappointment. This was the first time in years since we've been there. It was a pleasant experience. Our server Elena was knowledgeable and charming. We asked about the spiciness of the enchilada rojo and she brought us a sample of it and the sauce. Who does that anymore? We had that and the skirt steak - medium rare. That can be difficult because it's so thin to begin with, but it was perfectly cooked. The margaritas were also very well balanced. I have ordered from here several times. They have almost always spoiled my order. I have celiac and asked for the fish tacos to be a bowl instead of a taco which they did but they sent a piece of bread instead of the blue corn chips I asked for. Also I asked for extra fish which I did not get, and I asked that the dish PLEASE not be Spicy, which it was so spicy that I'm literally sweating. I feel like someone is purposely messing with me! I haven't ordered from here in awhile due to these same issues which I thought, maybe they had corrected since last time I complained. But no. Came an hr before closing (yes- I felt a bit bad lol) but the friendly waiter (idk his name he has gages!) immediately sat us down and served us GINORMOUS MARGS. Ceviche was good however I personally disliked the tomato base to it my boyfriend however loved it more than classic ceviche. Popped in last night with my lady and split a Philly cheese steak quesadilla for an app and I had a $5 portobello taco courtesy of happy hour. For dinner she had the southwest salad and I had the Mexican poke bowl with wasabi aioli. Awesome meal. Awesome night. This place is tier 1 for dine in AND takeout. Delicious, fresh Mexican food in the heart of the Hudson Valley. We've been here a few times since relocating to the area, and haven't been disappointed. The food is delicious - bold flavors, original sauces and seasonings, and a great variety of meat, vegetarian, and pescatarian options available. Ate at Mexicali Blue yesterday for lunch. Food was fantastic! I had the teriyaki beef fajita's with mango salsa and chips. They make their own hot sauces too which were excellent! Me and my family have had almost EVERYthing on the menu (no exaggeration) over the last year...from their signature summer drink the "Mexicali Blue Limeade"...to the iconic chips & guac...and including ice cream flautas for dessert...there's a reason Anthony Bourdain visited this place and TASTE is the reason! Let me start this review by saying that I am a huge foodie and always searching for good Mexican food. This place was not it. In no way shape or form can I call this authentic Mexican, but that's ok. I'm a huge fan of Tex-Mex as well. This place however doesn't do that well either. I only gave 2 stars because the service was good and it seemed like one of those places that would be great for happy hour drinks or something. Anyway, I went during lunch and ordered a steak & shrimp burrito. The burrito came loaded with steak and I had to hunt for shrimp. It seems they cut up theirs shrimp (who does that???) and the equivalent of 2 shrimp were in my burrito. Not cool at all! And they offer a herb sour cream which is not good at all. It seemed to have some type of herbs and some type of hot sauce in it but no regular sour cream was available. I just feel like some things shouldn't be messed with & sour cream is one of those things. My friend ordered 2 pulled pork tacos which I thought was absurd to charge $7 per taco! It came to the table in a mess of cole slaw water & honestly smelled like canned dog food. The menu advertises their pork is slow roasted but it looked like some sort of pre packaged meat from a bag if you ask me. She said she didn't like it but was so hungry she ate it anyway. All in all I felt like I would gave been better off going to Chili's or something. read more

The other night my friends and I were at that point of exhaustion and hunger that only a decent burrito delivery could fix. Thank the Yelp Delivery gods and Mexicali Blue for coming through! We all marveled over the menu and might have taken too long to figure out what we wanted because there were just so many things to think about (more for them, as omnivores, than for me, as a vegan). I'll be honest, I'm going back and forth between three and four stars because it would be cool to see a couple of vegan options... dare I say vegan cheese, soyrizo and sour cream? The menu is pretty basic for vegans and vegetarians. A couple of burritos and tacos. Appreciate that they have vegetarian beans (black, not sure about the refried) and rice too! The delivery was speedier than expected, which was nice! And our delivery person, also super nice. Everything was right, but I had indicated on the order that I needed extra hot sauce or salsa of some kind, any kind. And honestly, my guacamole burrito needed that. The rice and beans part that I first bit into was super dry (luckily there was an option to order pico de gallo, but no option to order salsa. I'd gladly pay extra for that). Next time I'll order more veggies with the burrito because it was a little bit one note for me. The guac, however, is delicious. My friends were all in love with their food. Just about everything was devoured. I'd say this place is a pretty solid choice for when you have that need for hearty Cali style Mexican food. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the trivia host... the hostess was behind the bar and not at the front desk. We were seated right away which is great, but the table and chairs were sticky. When the waitress Elena approached our table we exchanged greetings and then she complained that it was Thursday and she was tired. We were rarely checked on and sat with empty water glasses for about 15 minutes. When Elena asked how the food was, I told her it wasn't very good to which there was no response. The restaurant was decorated well but was dirty. There was food splatter on the blinds. We ordered chips and salsa.. and for the hefty price of $10 we were very disappointed. The chips were store bought and the salsa was lacking in flavor. I ordered the 2019 best burrito of the country, it should've stayed in 2019. I couldn't pick it up it was soggy. I cut it open and took a bite. The rice and beans were so moist made the entire burrito mush. There were maybe 3 pieces of the meat inside. My partner ordered the bean burrito. The first few bites had her fooled. The more she ate the worse it tasted. You can get a significantly better meal, quality and price, at the Taco Bell down the road. That's where I'll be next time I want a burrito. read more

It might be easier to just outline this review. Here were some of my issues: - Chips and Salsa are not served when you sit down. If you want them, they cost $7! - Ordered chips and guacamole as an app. Chips were clearly store bought. Guac was very cold, which believes me to think that it is also store bought - kept in the fridge until served. It was salty and overly mixed like guac you buy in a tub at the supermarket. - I ordered a chicken burrito as my meal. It comes with NOTHING. No side of rice, beans, or even some chips for color. Just a bloated lonely burrito on a plate. Outside appeared to be nicely grilled, but inside was as cold as the guac I was previously served. Cheese was not melted at all, and tasted like shredded craft mexican cheese right out of the bag. Thus being a huge disappointment. - There is no hot sauce on the table. - Total order - Guac and chips, 2 margaritas, 1 mojito, 2 burritos and a quesadilla. Total bill... $88.00. (Not worth the price at all) Our waiter was great, friendly, fast and attentive. Drinks were also made well. These two factors saved Mexicali Blue from a one star review. Overall this is not a sit down spot. Maybe a take out place at best, but you could get better made burritos at taco bell that won't cost you an arm and a leg. I will not be returning to Mexicali Blue any time soon. read more

We ended up with a corona but it would have been nice if he could have explained what the beer listing on the board, ratings and such meant, instead he said that he needed to get our order in, never came back to continue to the discussion. I was craving Mexican food so I did a search and found this one. since there are mixed reviews the hubs and I figured we'd try it out and form our own opinion. (Based on our experience I dont quite get the negative reviews). I had the absolute best steak taco (med rare) I've ever had in my life. It was de-e-lic-ious!! Whatever they flavor the meat with and use as a sauce was incredible. I tried their hot sauces on the table - that was great too. (chipotle sauce was yummo) hubby had a bean burrito that he liked a lot. Only gripe: the chips n 'salsa' are not free like most Mexican restaurants. They charge you $6. Notice I wrote 'salsa'... bc it's not actually salsa - it's pico de gallo. It was good though. Positive: our server Chris was really nice and prompt. I look forward to my next visit here. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went there again for lunch with a friend. The food still wasn't that great the second time. It's not horrible food, but it just lacked flavor for me. If could have been what I ordered. However, I won't be returning. I would much rather go to Cafe Maya down the road. read more
