Salt & Straw recently opened a shoe in Lincoln Road and I've already been twice! They're a delicious ice cream shop that really thinks outside of the box with their creative flavors. The staff is really friendly and can help you choose your flavors since they have so many! You get to sample any of the flavors you're interested in. I tried the salty donut guava and cheese, vanilla, and a cinnamon flavored one. Great flavors and quality. I will they are quite pricy at nearly $7 for a single scoop but you can taste the quality of ingredients. Definitely a great addition to Lincoln Rd. In 2011 Salt & Straw was created by Kim Malek and her cousin Tyler. After working at Starbucks when it was still a small busines. Kim wanted to create a business that fostered community around food so she thought of opening an ice cream shop. The only problem was neither had ever made ice cream before when they decided to go into business together. They started out experimenting in Kim's basement with farm to cone locally sourced ingredients. One of their most famous flavors is bone marrow with smoked cherries while Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons is one of their most popular flavors. Eventually they began selling ice cream from a cart in the Alberta Arts District of Portland, Oregon. They have now grown to 36 locations and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is part owner of the company. Salt & Straw's motto is "If you ever stop believing in magic, eat some ice cream." In 2021 Salt & Straw opened their first east coast shop in Wynwood and this Lincoln Road location opened on September 1, 2023. I had always been curious to try their ice cream and was lured in by a seasonal Thanksgiving selection that included Parker House Rolls W/ Salted Buttercream, Cheesy Potato Casserole, Turkey Stuffing & Cranberry Sauce, Mom's Mango Pie, and Pumpkin & Gingersnap Pie. Unfortunately the line was long even on a weekday and the shop was staffed by only one person. Due to the nature of their creative flavors people want several samples which further holds up the line. By the time it was my turn I was more than ready to try a few of my own samples. I chose to try the Cheesy Potato Casserole and Turley Stuffing and Cranberry Sauce. Both flavors were sweet on the front end and dissolved into a more savory flavor on the back. The flavors were very complex and the frozen sausage piece was kind of unappetizing. I would bring the Thanksgiving flavors in a pint as a novelty to Thanksgiving dinner. They are fun to try but not anything I would want a full scoop of. I ended up getting a single scoop of honey lavender in a waffle cone. The price for one ice cream come was a steep $9 plus of course they want you to add tip. In addition to their seasonal flavors and regular rotation they also offer some flavors unique to Miami like Panther Coffee Chocolate Tres Leches and the Salty Donut Guava and Cheese. The honey lavender was ok. I wish I didn't feel so rushed and could have tried more flavors. More staffing would have improved my experience. In addition to ice cream they also sell ice cream scented perfume and candles, ice cream scoops, and cookbooks. I wasn't blown out of the water this time I am definitely interested in seeing what they roll out for Christmas. Amazing experience! We came in a Saturday night and I thought that parking was going to be a nightmare, but to our surprise or luck we found street parking straight across from them. I came in and checked in and Izzy warmly greeted me and welcome me. He was absolutely amazing and made this experience 100% better. He gave me a few things to try. I decided to go the the salted donut guava and cheese for my first scoop and the cinnamon snickerdoodle for the second one. Came here for the grand opening event. Super central location close to everything. I love salt & straw since I visited them in Oregon. I feel that in Miami, they don't push their weirder flavors. They kind of play it safe. Service was super quick and I love that they let you take as many samples as you want. They don't make you feel stupid for trying all the flavors. This is such a cute and modern ice scream shop! I really like how they encourage you to taste test every flavor. They let you take your time enjoying each flavor and deciding what you want. The service was great as well. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Saltonstall has a variety of unique flavors like strawberry and balsamic which we are pleasant and refreshing. I personally chose the mint chocolate chip and a snickerdoodle combo. And we received many vials of chocolate and caramel syrup that are not pictured. I personally didn't like the flavor of the additional topping, but I didn't add them to my ice cream. Another nice touch, was that the taste testing spoons were actual mini spoons instead of continuously throwing out plastic trash they had a little section where you could put in the taste testing spoons in, to reuse once cleaned. Why was I hesitant to go by Salt & Straw with my friends after dinner for dessert? It sounds silly in hindsight, but I had an irrational fear that I wouldn't find a flavor that I'd choose to be my forever scoop. It turns out that I found too many candidates, thanks to the countless tastings they let you have of their ice cream before you choose which one to get. The servers are very nice about giving you tasters with tiny metal spoons, which are returned and washed so that you feel great they're not generating tons of trash by you trying out all of their ice cream flavors. The inside of the store is boldly painted with their signature red and white hues. They have a freezer for take home items (definitely worth a peek if you want to take ice creams or related products home). They keep the inside quite frosty cold, which makes sense for an ice cream shop, but just a note, it will be a stark contrast coming in from the relentless Miami heat. Want to know which ice cream flavors I tried? I'm a sucker for limited edition and ending flavors, by the way, so don't count on finding these if you go in a few months. Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero: Tangy goat cheese tastes with a great habanero kick that actually works. Birthday Cake and Blackberries: As described, like you're a kid smelling the candle which was just blown out but you get some berries in there. Nostalgically sweet. Huckleberry Cornbread Pudding: Crazy that no one else has really thought to make cornbread pudding much after you try this. The huckleberry gives a great dimension so that you're not just literally eating cornbread. Jasmin Milk Tea and Chocolate Almond Stracciatella: Wonderful floral jasmin aromas but something was lacking with stracciatella part, like the chocolate and almond were hiding. Wild-Foraged Berry and Slab Pie: Delightful berry flavors and yummy pie crust making me feel like I'm eating creamy pie without giving me the regret after eating actual pie. This was one of my forever scoops. Barrel-Aged Chocolate Stout: Crunchy cacao nibs and rich cocoa flavor with coffee overtones and without being overly sweet. This was my other forever scoop. You get the option to get one scoop ($6.95), two scoops ($8.95), or get a split single scoop ($6.95 + $0.50) which is two kiddie sized scoops. The split single was perfect for me to get my 2 forever flavors. Two friends got a 4 scoop sample for $16, which comes in a partitioned plastic tray and would be a great deal to share with another person. I placed an order through their online system, which uses Uber Eats for delivery, and the experience was completely unacceptable. The driver opened the bag, stole one of the pints, refused to come to the door, and gave me the middle finger when I met him outside while handing over the rest of the order. That's theft and obscene behavior--completely inexcusable. Their own website and confirmation email clearly state to call the local store if there's an issue, which I did--and the manager was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. To make it worse, I was told I needed to email their online ordering address. No--I want to speak to a human being who can actually resolve this. So, I am a self proclaimed ice cream junkie. I even like unusual flavors, like you find at Salt & Straw. I didn't go off the deep end though and stuck with what I thought was a pretty pedestrian flavor, the snicker doodle cookie. The taste was good and it did indeed taste like a snicker doodle. The texture however was a bit gritty and took away from the experience. The service started out a little slow but another worker eventually came over and took my order and checked me out. It is a nice place and was very clean, but I'd probably hit up one of the other ice cream places on the Lincoln Road Mall before I went back. What I love is how creamy the icecream is and it's not overwhelmingly sweet. Tastes very fresh and homemade. Love that when you walk in they use real mini spoons to sample and you push them into an area in the wall that's the trash after tasting. My all time favorite spot for icecream in Miami is Azucar, but Salt n Straw just made it right beside Azucar on my scale of the best icecream spots in Miami-- which says a lot considering I've tried many. read more

They also have a set menu of more standard and some more creative options. They also have pints to go in the fridge by the front. I also learned this visit about a "culinary perfume" they sell. Although this location only recently opened, I have already visited multiple times! I love their classic flavors and the fact that they have vegan options. My favorite feature is their constant revolving seasonal flavors, so the novelty will never wear off. The workers are patient (the person infront of me sampled almost every flavor) and informational.
