They also have a 60 day return policy (on everything but gels) I tried on 16 different shoes and got to test them all out on their in-store treadmills which made me confident in my purchase. Though you could probably get a better deal on shoes online, I found the in person assistance and ability to try the shoes on a treadmill to be invaluable. I am not the biggest fan for the customer service at Wasatch Running Center. As/was a repeat customer never have I had a sales rep that was as bad as the guy I had today. I'll keep his name out, but to say that I'm disappointed in his lack of service is an understatement. He started off well anticipating the color I would want, then grabbed another for me to try and then it goes down hill from there. I'm looking at all the sales reps sitting and helping their customers and I get this guy who just stood there the whole time and hands be the box of shoes. No preparing the shoe so I can put it on. No hands on experience that you expect when buying $150 pair of shoes. I'll have to search somewhere else for my Hokas or there is Amazon. Standard covid precautions are in place and appreciated. Worked with Jackson on finding some running shoes after a long hiatus from the sport and he was great. Had me walk and balance for a gait test, did some sizing, and brought out 5 different shoes to test. Tried all 5 including cross-comparisons and jogging tests on the strip through the sales floor. Treadmill tests are also available in store and the return policy is generous if you find your shoes aren't a good fit after buying. I'm whatcha call an amateur. Up until a few months ago, the only way you'd get me to run is if you chased me, and only then if you were a big fella or armed. (And even then it would depend on the kind of weapon). And then, something happened. A switch was flipped, and I started running for... wait for it... fun! It didn't hurt that it was good exercise and before I knew it, I was down several libbies. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and I was on the prowl for some trail running shoes. I was trying to get them to break in before a big race in southern Utah, and I popped in to look at the selection. Folks, this place is a runner's Mecca. Also, Mecca is expensive. Don't go looking for bargain basement deals (although you will find some clearance shoes up against the glass as you enter the front door) but do go to find the top-of-the-line gear and every possible accessory you might need. It happens that this day they didn't have quite what I'm looking for (this flat-footed fella is fairly particular) in the right price range, but I wouldn't hesitate to come back again. Just don't be intimidated. Open your mouth and ask lots of questions--that service thing just may be worth the bucks. read more

It is so nice to go into a locally-owned stores with salespeople who aren't afraid to spend 30 minutes with one customer just to make sure we're happy. I received none of this during my visit. I went to Wasatch Running Center upon the recommendation of my Podiatrist after being diagnosed with falling arches and tendon inflammation. Huge mistake! I assumed they would have the skill to help me select the shoes from the 3 brands recommended by the Dr. which were the best fit for my feet. Not so... The clerk brought out the shoes and left me to my own fitting and testing. The Dr. also recommended an orthotic insole which I tried on with the shoe. The clerk didn't have me remove the brand insoles and replace with the orthotic one. Hence, two insoles do not a good fit make. I guess I should have known better but I'm not in the Running/Walking shoe business. I have had the shoes for less than 2 months and as you can see the right shoe has a hole in it. Left shoe is fine. I went in today and was told they "see this all the time" and "you're taking them off wrong" implying I was using my left foot to push them off. Because of the lacing technique used I cannot take them off without significantly loosening the laces yet the clerk insisted it was my fault. There are a couple of other places where seams on the shoes are open and starting to come undone but the clerk wouldn't even look at them. They told me there was nothing they could do...and suggested I could try to contact the Brooks company. In going to the Wasatch Running Center I was hoping to get the expert service they pride themselves on. I didn't receive that expert care! I wish I would've purchased these at Scheels or Nordstrom's. They at least stand behind the products they sell. I would have paid the same price but would have had far superior customer service. My experience at Wasatch Running Center is one of the WORST customer service experience I've ever had at a "specialty store". Considering their goal "Happy feet so you can meet your goals" it was a HUGE failure. Not only do my feet hurt in different places than before as the fit was poorly done, but I paid $150 for a pair of shoes that are falling apart. I will never again trust my feet to "so-called" experts at Wasatch Running Center. read more

Then we went back today and both Danny and Steve helped us in a variety of ways. I can not say enough about this place! I had bought some running shoes from the Altra running outlet store & had little to no help. I picked some shoes & after 3 runs on the trail I had knee pain so bad I didn't think I could run my Half Marathon. Which I never have knee pain running on trails. I knew I could only exchange these shoes within 30 days & needed an expert to look at my running. I went into SL Running explained the situation & they took about an hour putting me on the treadmill, watching my running on video & helping me to see what was going on with the Altra running shoe & which shoe would be best for me knowing that I most likely wouldn't be buying from them- cause I had already bought a running shoe & was stuck using the other company. I'm from Chicago and brought an old pair of running shoes with me on a 10 day business trip. After one of my toes threatened to fall off from perpetual rubbing, I decided it was time to invest in a new pair of shoes and some fresh socks. Becca greeted me upon entering and was incredibly helpful the entire time. I told her I wanted to start from scratch with shoes because I hadn't been fitted in over a year and had since had knee surgery. I didn't know if I still used the same motions and wasn't entirely satisfied with the last pair of shoes. She happily fitted me in 6 or 7 different brands after watching my stride both walking and running. While waiting for her, she also gave me a little massage ball to rub my feet on (which reminds me, I forgot to buy one). After selecting a pair of Brooks that felt like I was running on air, she helped me find matching socks and Hammer Gel (shocked they carried it in store - I usually resort to amazon.com). My new shoes were priced at $110. I honestly think this is a fair deal. My last pair was $135 and I didn't receive as good of service as I did here. UT also has much lower sales tax than IL, so I saved some dough there, too. I've run twice since and my toes are thanking me! Since I'm here every 3 months for business, I will be getting all my running shoes here from now on!!! read more

If you're Yelping and eating all the food behind each of your reviews, you probably should be jogging. Because I'm no stranger to a good meal, I've taken up running quite strong since moving to the City of Salt. I live in Sandy and Wasatch Running was easy to find on the corner of State and 90th S. Its great to have a local running shop because its not always convenient to go downtown to Salt Lake Running Company. I was having a problem with my foot falling asleep after running for 30 minutes at any distance. I went down to Wasatch Running and told them my plight. I told them to put me in a shoe that would fix this, price wasn't the first consideration. They identified the problem of me buying shoes for runners whose strike is much different than mine. They did this by me running up and down the store while they stared at my feet. If you're self conscious, this is probably the best place to do it because its all runners and they can appreciate what you're doing. After putting me in about 3 pairs of shoes they gave me a pair of Saucony Ride 3's that have been a dream to run in. I've gone from foot asleep at 3 miles to putting in 13 or more in one run with no problems. I'm excited to look forward to a number of half and full marathons in 2011 with the info they gave me. And with all the miles on these "new" shoes, I'm probably about ready for another pair. I've also bought running clothes from them but I've only done it when they've had a sale. They're a small shop so you're going to pay full retail. They had some great deals at the the end of the season but you'll probably be warehousing the clothes till the temperature matches the product's design. I'm guilty of buying from online competitors when it comes to the clothes, its just cheaper and anyone who thinks running is a cheap sport hasn't bought good running wear. Overall its a great store, if you have something that ails you take the time to go in and explain it to them. They're excited to talk about running and love to hear what you're working towards too. If you need running shoes this is the defacto place to go for the southern Salt City suburbs. read more

I really wish I could give 10 stars! I have never in my life met people that truly cared so much about their customers and what they do. I just decided to take up running so naturally I don't know much about running shoes and what I need. I went to Wasatch Running and was helped first by Taylor. She was so sweet, so nice super helpful and gave me some great tips about running. After two weeks of trying the shoes I found they were just not working. My feet were hurting and I could just tell they were not going to work. I went back into the store and was helped by Melissa. Again.. super helpful, super friendly and very knowledgeable. I only had a few options that day because my foot is so small it's hard to find the right kinda fit. I went home with a no drop shoe that I thought was going to work and was excited. Tried them at the gym for two days and they were worse that the ones I had before. My feet were killing me. I was super bummed I didn't want to have to go back into the store I was sure they were going to be super annoyed with me, however I spent a lot of money so I needed to get a pair that would work. Went in this morning and Melissa was there again to help. All my worries about them being annoyed or just saying sorry we can't help you went right out the window. Melissa is AMAZING!!!! I don't even know the right word to describe her... She was so sweet, so kind and helpful. Took her time with me showed me different ways to lace my shoes that would help and had no problem trying on a few pair. Finally!! We found the perfect pair! Because she is so into running and actually knows what she is talking about she was able to watch me walk again a few times and found the perfect shoe to help. I put them on got on the treadmill and ran and Phew.... they worked! They felt amazing my foot didn't hurt and the different way she laced them helped so much! All I can say Is I really truly love this place. Thanks to the wonderful Melissa I was able to get a great pair of running shoes even if it took me trying a few pair out first. That is the other thing I love about this store. If the shoe does not work you can come back and they will help you find one that will. If you are deciding to just start running or are an avid runner you need to come here! There shoe selection is awesome the staff is BEYOND AMAZING!! (especially Melissa) They will help you find whatever you need! They don't try to rush you out of there so they can move onto the next customer which I LOVE LOVE LOVE! read more

I went to Wasatch Running today to rent a wetsuit for a triathelon. Turns out they didn't have the size they said they originally told me they had in stock. In stead of telling me I was out of luck they loaned me a BRAND NEW wetsuit to use for my triathelon. I was blown away and so grateful. I was referred here and they were great. It was explained what the shoes would do to help me and what the proper size should be.
