My buddy and I were on a motorcycle ride when his ticker just stopped working faster than his Harley trying to turn over on a cold day. The cardiologist here and the associated teams swung into action with a vengeance and kept him going until they could get a handle on it and keep him alive. I honestly didn't expect this kind of care in Rapid City, and count our blessings that this hospital was here. The knowledge and skill of their staff kept my friend alive. 100% would recommend!

After testing they told me there was a problem with blood pooling in my legs, so I went along with his recommendation to have a vein ablation done. I wish I never did it. It is tender to the touch and numb above the knee now. Additionally, he gave me Valium for the procedure even though I protested. I told him the medicine gave me terrible side effects in the past. He told the nurse to give it to me anyway. Then during the procedure he told her to give me more! Again I said no! I asked for something else or anesthesia, because it was quite painful. The second pill knocked me out. When I awoke it was silent and pitch dark. The thought crossed my mind that I was dead! Then after a minute or so I moved and the light came on. They had wheeled me into an office with motion lights and no one attending to me. It was actually a very frightening experience. Dr. Schabauer, you have no idea who I am or my level of education but your arrogance was quite unbelievable, and very unprofessional. Even the nurse tried telling you I didn't want more Valium but you ordered her to give it anyway. Because of your pretentiousness, my leg is messed up, permanently according to other doctors who didn't want me using their names but weren't surprised when I shared my story. You suffer from a god-like complex, and I wonder how many other patients have horror stories to tell as a result? Of course I have opted not to have the procedure done on my left leg.

They took me in without an…read moreappointment, and just 45-minutes later I was on my way to the pharmacy to pick up my free, government provided, Paxlovid prescription. The nurses and the doctor were all very nice and very thorough. Overall, the experience was quite good, especially given that I had COVID and no one ever made me feel like I was a worry to them. Since it was my first experience with COVID, I expected to be treated like a leper, but that didn't happen. It was a much more relaxed event, for which I'm quite thankful. I'm feeling better every day too.

I was rescheduled to an appointment days before my scheduled departure. Two business days before the rescheduled appointment I was again advised Dr. Weiland would not be available. I explained I too have a schedule and planned accordingly to get my health issues addressed before departing for a period of time. Unfortunately, everyone at RCMC and now Monument just don't have time address their patients. I get patients are not important enough and will address my health needs elsewhere. I told admitting staff at radiology that I had surgical wire in my right orbit. Some how the staff…read moreat the imaging center conflated that with having wire in my right eyeball. That is an entirely different thing as the orbit is the actual eye SOCKET. Then they put someone from radiology on who tried to tell me that I was the one that made the mistake and that the orbit is actually the eye ball (globe), which it IS NOT. The orbit is the socket. I don't like mistakes being made and then being lied to about it to make me look stupid when I was the one who used the terminology correctly. In the future, I would explore other options for imaging. Medical professionals who are unsure of terminology should at the very least look up the terms and know what it is that they are talking about. Good medical professionals would already know what the terminology means.

It was one excuse after another and then said its to late to rebill cause they sent it to collections. Even before collections they were given proof on both occassions. Lab tests of every type. They gave her a small wheel chair that she could navigate around the house. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy came out and evaluated the house and what she needed. Even without a diagnosis, they started taking care of her problems. By July she had gotten a power scooter, lift for the scooter on the back of the car, an elevator from the garage into the house and a chair lift from first floor to second. She got what she needed by keeping them in the loop as to what was going on with her issues. She did not just complain, she was proactive and the VA responded.
