DO NOT CALL!! I called today to cancel my mom's plan because they were charging her $400 a month and every time I tried to talk they hung up and were very rude. One lady pretended to be Sammy and when I gave her my mom's credit card information she said "nope bye." My mom almost had a heart attack and I had to rush her to the hospital because of this. She is currently pregnant and is admitted in the hospital hung up on IV's!! Sammy's workers do not know how to communicate with people and should be fired immediately!! Worst experience of my life. I would like a reply back from the worker saying sorry for everything. read more

Let's get started: early-June 2018 - I purchased one year of renter's insurance from State Farm after having a positive experience with them while renting upstate in Albany. mid-April 2019 - after vacating my Brooklyn room rental, I emailed and left a voicemail for Sammy Martinez to learn how to cancel (or at least not renew) the policy, for which I bought renter's insurance that went into effect in early June, in response to an email reminding me to renew my policy. Crickets on Sammy's end. mid-June 2019 - Responded via email to another payment notification sent by Sammy Martinez stating that I'd vacated the property, for which I'd purchased the June 2018-June 2019 policy, never heard back from him, and wouldn't be renewing even if I had heard back from him. Crickets on Sammy's end....but he passed my email onto a female associate who called me the day after I sent my last email to Sammy. Her intention was to clear things up and maybe see if I could get a refund since I'd vacated the rental a couple of months before my insurance policy ended. early-July 2019 - I received forwarded snail mail from NYC with something from good ol' State Farm in Brooklyn (I'd received two or three paper bills from them since the April email.). I didn't think much of his female associate's efforts to mail me a refund after we spoke last month, and I'm glad I didn't. When I opened the envelope from State Farm, it was a bill stating that my policy had been cancelled a month plus a few days after it ended this past June 4, claiming that I still owed them $125. Yeah RIGHT. The only thing I owe is this yelp to the public so they can stay well informed...and have a laugh at the absolute ridiculousness of Sammy Martinez, who clearly thinks that a $125 policy is big money enough to get underbelly over. I'm actually really disappointed that I even had to write this. When they need to contact me they will email & call yet I've been going back & forth with this office since last week as I got pulled over for a supposed insurance lapse dating back to November '19 that they said wasn't the case. Mind you - this is their job to keep the dmv updated. The agents here are very nice - I give that but now I feel like I'm getting the run around. I was told I would get a letter emailed to me as of last week ( this was 3/4/20) concerning this matter that I could forward to the dmv to get this " suspension " cleared. I'm technically not suppose to be driving bc of this & thankfully the officer didn't take my plates but insisted I get this resolved ASAP). I only have but so much time before I now have to appear in front of a judge and I'm paranoid I'm going to get pulled over again. I called yesterday and got sent to voicemail twice and left a message ; emailed their office the night prior and no response to both. Called this morning and got forwarded to their voicemail yet when I called restricted the office # rang and rang. I called the general number to see if I could have another agent help me - well behold they transferred me to an agent at the same number right away & the woman I spoke to said she will try to get her underwriter to get this same letter emailed to me that I requested from someone in her office last week and that I'd get a call by 1:30pm. I waited - as I don't want to be a pest. And was very hopeful I'd get my letter OR AT LEAST a courtesy call before end of day. Welp the office is now closed and I still can't go to the dmv WITHOUT this as I never received an order in the mail in the first place and according to the dmv they're suppose to electronically notify them of the coverage. I'm at my wits end with ny insurance costs to begin with but it doesn't make things anymore pleasant when you're trying to get an error resolved with an agent that SUCKS at communication. read more

Very confused State Farm Accounts Manager. Lack of clear communication on a simple auto policy. Our full coverage was supposed to switch to liability coverage with partial refund which was not sent until we checked up on it months later. Recently we were asked if we want to continue auto coverage and found out that we currently have stationary auto policy which does not cover the car when it is being driven. We never asked for stationary coverage. This defeats the purpose of owning a car ! This is not what I expect from State Farm. Shocking but true. We are switching. read more

I would have selected 0 star if there were such option. By far the worst service ever - The agent failed to explain to their customers who are not familiar with insurance products. My parents are old and do not fully understand the terms of the insurance. They just purchased in the terms that the agent recommended. I called because I want to understand better about the details, but the agent was giving the poorest attitude ever. When I asked a question, they would start throwing numbers at you and at some point you just mentally gave up. It took me almost an hour talking to them to finally understand what exactly we purchased. The MOST horrible thing is that after all the back and forth, we have paid the full 6 months amount for the policy. State Farm charged the money from my parents bank account. ONE MONTH LATER, we got a termination notice. When we went to the agent, he HAD NO IDEA why it was being cancelled. This is just unbelievable. We did not receive any phone calls or follow up from the agent before our service was cancelled. We are still waiting for the response from god knows where. I am not sure if that's service or level of diligence we are looking for. I strongly discourage anyone who is looking for insurance to go to this place. read more
