The head of the phatmacy would not fill my prescription for pain killers because she said this is for cancer patients and she more less wanted my Dr. To tell why i was taking this. I think that this is truly invading my privacy. This was at Sams club in Elgin. I will not be back to that pharmacy. I never have been treated so bad. She made me feel so bad that she pretty much said i was a drug addiction. Cooperate did get involved and said I would get a phone call an apology. This never happened it's been 4 months. What happened I know one person really doesn't mean anything to this store. I use to shop there every week. But I will never step a foot I this store again. There was people behind me and they couldn't believe what they were hearing. I would like to know what is my next step. She I take her to small claims court about invading my privacy and how rude and how I felt. I love all Sam's Clubs compared to Costco. BUT the greeter and the exit checker lady. WTF is up with your nasty attitude???? This is the only location that has that issue too. Shopping was fine...maybe some food tasting stations too close together blocking a way for carts to get through...so back tracked and went down other aisles. I'm old, have had surgery, and have lung problems. But check out was MISERABLE. Lines of people at the self check outs. I get in a regular check out line. ONLY TWO regular check out lanes open. I'm waiting and waiting...at least 20 minutes...as I see a back up of carts waiting to be "checked" out at the exit door. By the time I finally get checked out, I see 4 extra people running around doing not much, and not a one can open another lane to help check people out. I complain at the Exit, after she's going over so many items in my cart with her scanner to make sure I didn't steal anything, saying this has been such an UNPLEASANT experience. She says, down load the self check out app. Isn't this a managers responsibility to monitor back ups at cash registers and exit door ? ? ? Had an issue when leaving the South Elgin, IL Sam's Club store location yesterday (September 24th). The lady checking receipts/carts (angry face with no greeting) on the exit door spent far too much time checking out my shopping cart which had only 12 items as correctly reflected on my receipt... she actually kept looking at the receipt and checking every item in the shopping cart as if I was shoplifting something... both before and after she scanned an item. I had to actually ask her if there was something wrong and after I brought that question up was only when she handed me my receipt back and said no. Is this a new Sam's Club policy to embarrass it premiere members upon exiting the store? I did call the store manager immediately when I went out to my car from the store and she did apologize to me and said they would review tapes and correct the situation with the individual, but really... and both o women at the entrance checking IDs and at the exit were angry looking unhappy employee. 1-18-2020 Sams Club still uses some of these same horrible people to check carts/receipts... they are the most unfriendly-unhappy people you have ever seen. They act like everyone is trying to steal stuff. Yes from time-to-time they do have some new more friendly ones, but they do need to get rid of some old ones who can make your shopping experience miserable. read more

Went in twice to order tires, first time no one came to help take an order so I left. I could see people working in the work area, but they ignored me standing there. Went back a few days later, still no one at the desk, a manager came asked if we ( another customer waiting for service) had been helped. When we said no he opened the door to the work area. An older gentleman came to the desk seemed a bit flustered, wrote up the order took a large sum of money for the tires and said 3 to 5 days , they would call when they came in. After 20 days I called them and was informed, those tires don't need to be ordered they are always in stock! Then I had to wait 8 more days before I could get an appointment to have them installed. Almost 30 days for tire that were already in stock!! Terrible business practice! Never again!!! read more

Everyone, My own imposed rules for any review: 1. Must visit at least three times. Two of which must be distinctly different formats; i.e. one weekday night and one weekend night. 2. The food category is rated on fresh items, not processed or boxed items since those should be the same everywhere. Although, processed food pricing can be compared to other stores. Thanks. Sams Club - Elgin Location/Layout - 5/10: Located on Randall Rd in Elgin, this store is very easy to find and convenient for most of the greater Elgin and Northern Fox Valley residents; especially since we now longer have to travel 30 minutes in a eastern or southern direction to get to a store. The store is a full sized format which means they carry most items and have both a tire department and filling station. Parking is ample, but the lot can get hectic with patrons traveling to the other stores/restaurants which will only get worse as more shops open in the complex. The lots are fairly well maintained but the carts need to be collected and corralled more often, as the limited corrals fill quickly allowing the over flow carts to ride the breeze. Service - 5/10: Service is fair and friendly throughout the store if you are able to locate someone; with the pharmacy and tobacco area having the stellar service reps. You are put through the normal card interrogation at the gate, which I still don't understand since you can not check out with out a card, along with the receipt highlighter anti-shop lifting technique. The receipt validation is fine but there are two main issues: 1) there is only one person at the door doing the validation ever, no matter the day or time which creates huge backups. 2) We only usually buy a few things and it never fails that there are between 1 and 15 business owners ahead of us buying a months supply of everything. This is completely fine as that is what this store is actually intended for but there should be an express interrogation lane or a second person put at the door. Food/Item - 6.5/10: The main reason that we go to Sam's is that they offer unique items that are not available elsewhere, ex. include frozen items and brands that are not available at other stores and shelf stable items such a Olive Garden salad dressing. We also purchase other items that are at a very good discount, including seasonal items, alcohol and tobacco products, and even clothes. The food in general is hard for us to take advantage of because even though they do offer fresh meats, produce, and dry goods, they are usually in such quantities that we can not use them quick enough and end up not saving because of waste. Although, the meats are a good value and are quality cuts if you are able to use or store them effectively. Overall Experience - 6/10: We shop at Sams for very unique items, pharmacy, and to use the filling station quite frequently. This store is a good addition to the greater Elgin area and offers great convenience for those that are looking for purchasing in bulk or to supply a small business. read more

I mostly come here to fill up on gas. When I shop inside, I tend to get their avocados (although I think they're priced the same at Walmart), blueberries, spring mix, 6-pack of bell peppers, SunChips, etc. I've also had their Alaskan king crab legs priced at $19.99/lb, which was an amazing value. Usually they'll have samples offered too. The employees are nice, never had a negative experience. I was looking at a car charging kit for my phone, and an employee offered to help, even opening a package to make sure that it fit my phone. I'll admit though that I'd rather be a patron of Costco, but they're a longer drive. read more

Forget auntie ann's and come get a salty buttery pretzel here after shopping for .99 or splurge a buck more for a giant soda. Yum! They have a scan and go app, I don't even have to wait in line. I will try the online pick up next time and see how it goes; but what a great selection from onesies, TVs, and to booze! She is extremely conscientious and works very hard with her entire staff. if you have a problem she works immediately to rectify it. She goes the extra mile to be sure that her customers are extremely happy. The optical department is very nice as well. Nice clean while organized store with great service. read more

This place is fine if you are a business owner and come here to get bulk supplies. Merchandise is fine. Business owners can even come in before the store opens and get in and out very fast in the morning. I wish they had better/more selections of sodas and snack foods. I don't like having to buy food at Jewell. The only real complaint I have is the company reps they allow in the store to try and sell you things. They are pretty annoying and pushy. The store is fine, just be careful when purchasing tires. We purchased a set of tires and Sam's didn't have them in stock so they said it would be a couple days. I received an email stating they were in so I drove 20 minutes to get the tires installed. When I got there, they said they didn't have them and weren't sure how the email went out. Two days later I received a call stating they were in, hopefully they were. Back to Sam's for a 2 and a half hour wait, but they didn't say it was going to be that long - I asked after waiting an hour. Well, had to leave because my son had an appointment in an hour and I couldn't miss it. The Service Manager Brian was extremely rude. Well, figured I'd get the installed the following day so I called in the am. Ugh, Brian answered. He stated it would be 2 1/2 to 3 hours to install them, continued to be rude and abruptly stated I would just have to drop the car off. So I did. In the 20 minutes it took me to drive to the store, supposedly many other customers had also come in that timeframe. The new estimated wait time was six hours. This is why people go to a dedicated player store. Whatever you saving money you will definitely spend in time at Sam's tires. read more

Great store & helpful staff! We were having a problem finding a specific item in store, and not 1 but 3 managers rushed to help us find the item. They searched in back and realize that it hadn't been put out on the floor, so they brought the stock pallet out immediately, opened it, and gave us our choice of item. Great service! We shop Sam's Club regularly. We came in the Elgin Store on New Years Eve and there were no carts in the store. We notified the individual at the door who seem unconcerned, but said someone was called. We stood and waited at least 10 mins and we weren't the only customers waiting. No one said a word to us while we stood there. It was freezing out so we weren't about to go in the parking lot and hunt down a cart. We finally went in the store purchased a couple items we needed and were able to hand carry and left. At this point it had been at least 20-25 mins and there were still no carts yet the cart corral in the parking lot was full of carts. There is no excuse for this. Sam's lost a larger purchase out of us and maybe purchases from others because of their lack of customer service. My family comes here for 2 reasons: gas and a few bulk items. Other aspects of this store are just so disappointing that I wouldn't come here if it wasn't so close. Here are the biggest reasons that make a trip to Sam's Club a horrible experience. 1.) Their fresh produce is awful. Several times I have had to return items because they were bad (granted, that's my fault for not checking thoroughly) and the times that I have checked, the produce has already started to go bad. 2.) A few times I had to go back to exchange things once I got to my car because of a broken juice box in the pack or a loose top on a large water bottle. So annoying to notice those things after I already left the store. 3.) The constant harassment of Direct TV representatives trying to sell me on their service. For the last time - NO. I DO NOT WANT DIRECT TV! It's a shame that I go out of my way to avoid them if I can. I already pay a freakin' membership fee to Sam's Club. I don't want to be solicited by other companies too. Shouldn't a store membership exempt you from that?!?! 4.) Gas is cheap, but the lines are usually REALLY, REALLY long. The drive-up on one side arrows are a joke as no one adheres to them and it's all just a big mess. 5.) This one just happened a few days ago (on Thursday at 4pm) and it still really makes me angry every time I think about it. I was walking out, about to pay at the self checkout and I heard Nelly's song, Ride Wit Me. (Please look up the lyrics if you are unfamiliar with the song.) For a split second, I thought I heard a curse word and thought "Nah, of course I wouldn't hear that." I stopped to listen real close and, yep, sure enough, I was hearing the explicit version. I couldn't believe it. I have a 4-year-old and would have been LIVID if he was with me, but I was alone and just told the person at the front desk how offended I was that I had to hear that in a public retail store. As I was walking out, I heard her telling someone else about so-and-so's music (I can't remember the guy's name), leading me to believe that the employee's are responsible for bringing their own music to play. The music wasn't on the store-wide speakers, but rather on a large speaker set-up in the electronics department. Totally unacceptable for a big-box retail store. Despite this store's many, many flaws, I will continue to stop here for my gas and a few staple items...mainly because Costco is just too far. read more

If this wasn't a convenient spot to come for work, I would probably never come here again. As a foods teacher with limited areas to shop, I will unfortunately still have to come here. The website for the pick up kept changing my location from Elgin to a store in Lombard. That was an hours worth of issues to figure out. Once I placed my order for the next day, I expected them to mess it up. When I pulled up on my lunch break, I didn't know what to expect because I had never done it before. I waited about 10 minutes after ringing the bell, and no one came to greet me. I decided to park and come inside. Immediately, i complained with the door greeter and they told me to wait in the long line at customer service. Wait in line??? Isn't that the whole reason I did rapid pick up so I don't have to wait? I cut in line to ask, and the person told me the guy that's supposed to do it was on his lunch break. Really? Waited another 10 minutes for him to get off his lunch break. He then told me to wait to sign something, then I said I was just going to pull up my car. I went to the parking lot, went back in line to wait, and then he pulls out the cart and doesn't help me put them in my car? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but isn't your job more than pushing the cart out and saying have a good day? After all that time, I didn't bother to check everything was in the cart and IT WASNT. so I had to find time later in the day to drive back to get it. I called ahead to let them know I was coming because they had been so unreliable with the pick up. I have had so many other issues with this location that I wish I wasn't forced to shop here. read more

The produce is fresher than Costco and I would much rather buy celery and bagged lettuce here. Costco does not sell bagged Dole lettuces at all. The cauliflower I just bought lasted a week until I cooked it and it was great. Bunches of flowers are cheaper than Costco. Lines at the gas pump are smaller than Costco. I agree it is difficult to get help at the jewelry counter but stopping at the front desk first to alert customer service you need assistance makes sense. I never had difficulty waiting in long lines at the checkout and the self-service stations are always serviced by personnel. Prices are generally better than Costco where products overlap. I have never found them to be more expensive at Sams. Sams meat is at least as good as Costco plus they discount packages when they get close to the sell date. Costco never discounts meats based on sell date. Sams sells sushi, Costco does not. Sams sushi is okay. Sams sells imitation Krab, Costco does not. Costco beats Sams on clothing offerings and the number of free tastings they give away. Because of Sams Club closures Costco is crazy crowded which greatly diminishes the experience. My only gripe with Sams is that I never know when another one is going to close down. read more

*This pertains to the gas station only* The sign clearly states to pull forward only - yet, there are ALWAYS cars that go around and face the other direction - essentially cutting in front of honest people who are waiting their turn in line. There is also ALWAYS a worker just standing around. Why not have that worker direct those cars that cut in line and face the opposite direction to get back in line and follow directions like everybody else? Just a suggestion, especially on a cold snowy day like today. read more

Used the on-line photo lab for this years photo Christmas cards. Big mistake ! Est. delivery to local Sam's club last Saturday, 12/7/19. Called store, was told order not in yet. I rec'd call from store on Monday 12/9 stating order rec'd. Drove to location after work day. Girl at desk could not find order. Told me to come back 12/10. Maybe it would be in then. I called 12/10. Still not in. Status on line says order ready for pick up. Tried calling to speak to someone since now there is no one at store that can help with photo orders since they took it out of the stores. Held 45 minutes before I hung up. Tried calling again next day and same indefinite hold. Store advising they have nothing to do with photo orders any more. Only choice is to call 888-746-7726 where no one works the photo dept. apparently. To refund my order that I never rec'd, I have to call the same #. No e-mail contact available to try and get someone's attention to my lost order. If it was delivered to store, they lost it or gave to someone else ? Need answers since these were family Christmas photos to be used as Christmas cards with envelopes and there is no one to handle the complaint or look for order. Nothing on line to even search for order or tracking it. Do NOT use Sam's club for any custom photo orders if you really want to get your product. So disappointed. Used them in past but obviously they changed and don't care about customers anymore. Regretting membership renewal with Sam's. read more

Been there a few times before I wrote a review.... Let me start by saying the batavia sams club is leaps and bounds above this one even though this one is brand spanking new! Selection is ok, quality of meats is average, but the management needs to get more of the products similar to the batavia store. Have memberships at both cost co and sams, and went to both on a Saturday...the difference cost co was slammed, tons of samples, every associate said hello, and even though lines were long didn't mind waiting due to friendly staff. Sams in elgin....busy inside, sold out of the item I needed, took 25 mins to find it and that was a manager looking, and one stand giving out fruit. Really, come on?!? I bought twice as much as cost co cause I was able to sample, before I invested in the purchase! Come on sams club stop being so cheap, membership next year...hmmmm I think not!! read more

Do NOT do club pick here! Waited over 40 minutes! I have four children and one of them is in a wheel chair so it makes it impossible to get anything into a cart! I did the club pick up at this location and no one was able to service me every though it was already pre paid and just needed to get picked up. I called twice and it wasn't until the second call and 40 minutes later that someone was able to help me. Never will I shop at this location again! read more

I'm at jewelry counter for 10 minutes looking and waiting for a rep, and another lady just walks up and get service like I'm not even standing there... the reps asks who was first, I said I was, but because she called, she get served over me! Quick stop for some alcohol & a quick bite to eat before heading out to the city. This location is actually very clean. Cleaner than some of the other sams club locations that I've been too. The only complaint I have would be the women's restroom. There was such a strong stench of urine. It was so bad I didn't even want to use the bathroom anymore. read more
