I'm a disabled veteran who purchased a full set of 20-inch rims and tires from Chihuahua Tire & Rims - Elgin, and within just two months, the rims are already dented and damaged. I take pride in my vehicle and don't drive recklessly, so there is no excuse for this kind of wear and tear in such a short time. These rims are clearly cheap and poorly made. As a customer -- and more importantly, as someone who served this country -- I expected honesty and quality from a local business. Instead, I feel taken advantage of. I trusted this shop with my hard-earned money, and what I got in return was overpriced, low-quality products that didn't even last 60 days. I strongly urge others to think twice before spending their money here. If this is how they treat veterans, I can only imagine how they treat the average customer. I won't be coming back. read more

Came here because was told by Elgin Toyota that I had 3 small leaks on my front tire. To my surprise, they couldn't find ANY LEAKS or issues. Customer was superb. Recommend this place 100%!!! If you have any tire issues these are the guys to go to!! read more

Very quick and even worked through their normal lunch break to mount 2 tires. We were losing light since we had to bring the tires up to Wisconsin. Normally they go to lunch around 1:00 p.m. and he told us they would be back at 2:00 but we said we really needed this and they made sure that we were accommodated. They quoted me $70 for an alignment. Afterward they wanted to charge me $60 for an aftermarket screw to finish my alignment. $130 for an alignment. That or just leave the job halfway to nothing for $70. I left them with the $70. Horrible! Just horrible! Good for tires. Don't go there for anything else though. They will find a way to sell you their aftermarket parts telling you that it's necesary to finish the job! read more

My wife's tire picked up a nail on a late Saturday afternoon and it was in need of repair. I was passing bye and saw the few reviews on yelp but decided that it would be worth while to check out this local small business. I was happily surprised at their commitment to service and quality. Despite being unbelievably busy, they had me in and out in 35 minutes. The staff was kind, respectful and knew their business. There was a family with kids waiting in the back area. The staff had found some sponge-bob on the TV to keep the kids occupied while the parents waited. Little things like that say a lot about the business and staff...also helps to keep them sane during a rush! A little cramped with all the rims, not much in the way for seating so drop off is better if it can be arranged Give them your business worth a try! read more

No. Just no. My boyfriends check engine light was on. We went and got an engine. They convinced him to get a used one... Okay well a week went by all good then the light came back on. We went back and they charged us a second time to put in a brand new engine. You money hungry grubbers should a put a new engine in the first time or not charged us again to fix your shotty work. read more

Brought my car in to have some aftermarket wheels put on that i bought online and stock tires remounted on new wheels. Everyone was nice. Drove home car but noticed it vibrated at higher speeds. I went back and they said wheels needed hubcentric rings (not their fault since I didn't buy the wheels from them but they should have known when they mounted em). I ordered them and had them put em on. They also rechecked the balance on the wheels/tires. Car still vibrated a lot at high speeds. I went to discount tire. All 4 wheels/tires were not properly balanced. DT balanced em all. Problem solved. read more

This place is the worst. I bring my dads car in for 2 new tires. They take all day and do nothing. Then say two bring it back and the same. They make up a story about not having the right tires. Then day three they change the tires and don't tighten the nuts all the way. The lug nuts loosen and two come off. Then I bring the car back and they can't be bothered to even look at the car after waiting an hour we leave. read more

I drive by chihuahua tire shop every single day, probably 3-4 times a day, one day I decided to buy used tires(cheaper) and since they change breaks too I decided to do my front ones as well. Little did I know of my surprise, after changing my tires used ones, they didn't set up the same air pressure in all of them front tires had 45 on one and 35 on the other one. Seems a little weird for a place that specializes in tires. They changed my front breaks, the day after I heard a clicking noise on the copilot side, and when ever I was driving or breaking my steering wheel will shake and so would the front copilot tire, decided to take it the next day. The staff is always polite, but when the guy who installed my breaks and tires took my car for a test drive, he said he didn't feel or noticed anything, I thought it was all in my head being paranoid. He showed me my breaks but didn't double check. The next day the noise was worst so I took it to the shop, they told me they had done it incorrectly, so they fixed it, i paid $280 total at chihuahua fora service because i thought it would be cheaper than getting new tires. Little did I know how wrong I was, i paid $40 for a full breaks inspection and $90 fixing the "problem" Save yourself the time, money and energy. Go someone else!! read more

My first impression was that this is a work place for drug addicts and ex convicts. You get a feeling that you really wouldn't be surprised if you got stabbed here. By either someone in this "lovely" neighborhood or by the staff. I bought 4 new tires for my car. A week later I went in to chihuahua tire to have them weld a rim I had. They had my car for 2 days. When I went to pick it up, one of my tires was switched out. 3 of them were fine, but the 4th tire was completely bald. It's like they switched out the tire for one they had laying around. They took my tire and tried to tell me that I came in with the bald one. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy or even my mother in law read more

I went to Chihuahua Tire because I had a leaking tire which I had patched with a liquid tire product. They attended to me immediately and showed me the drill bit they pulled out of my tire. They explained my options and gave me prices for 2 and 4 tires and also offered me a gently used tire to get me back on the road. They were very professional and were not pushy. I travel Rt. 31 daily and seen Chihuahua Tires for years but had never stopped there until a couple of years ago. I hit a curb and damaged my rim. Dealership Rim was over $600.00 and out of budget and Winter was moving in. Every night I went to sleep making a list for the next day to do. Each morning I would dream about two Chihuahua Dogs, that would wake me up barking from my dreams. It took a couple of weeks for me to listen but one morning Chihuahua Tires flashed before my eyes and the solution was there. These people are scam artists!!!! I went to them for tire installation. They told me i needed to replace all 4 front ball joints because the alignment would not pass. He walked me over by the truck and shoved a prybar under the ball joint and started throttling up and down. You never check ball joints like that!!!! Right there i knew something was fishy!! Quoted me $950!?!?!? Told them i didnt want any work done, the gentlemen told me i needed to pay $30 for the alignment check and and $40 for mounting 2 rims on the new tires. I asked why i had to pay for the work if we had not agreed on a final solution. He proceeded to weasel his way around and i ended up paying $50 for nothing!!!! I only paid for one mount $20 to get his ass off my back. To top it off, i took my truck to my freakin dealer, and the dealer said nothing was wrong with my ball joints!!!! Called in asking for a tire size (used), which they said they had. I then asked if the tire was in good condition since the price seemed too high compared to others. They assured me it was in great shape and would include balancing. I then went in and had them install the tire we spoke about over the phone. By the way, they gave me a different price when I was there compared to over the phone. Since they were taking so long, I got curious and peaked into the shop. To my suprise I saw the condition of their tire which was going on my vehicle, and it was in BAD shape. I then walked over to the guy who took my keys and asked him if that was the tire we spoke about over the phone, and he said yes. I told him that I was paying top dollar for a tire which I was told was in good shape. He then said that the car was already up and they had taken my rim off my car already so he would take off 5 dollars. I felt completely ripped off and lied to. I would not recommend these guys to anyone, they are not honest or respectful. read more
