I remember the old times of when Piggly Wiggly was all over throughout small towns…read more I was made aware that this location was going to be closed permanently as of 7/31/25 so we decided to make a trip to shop at this location and remember how it was back in the day. The store was having 50% of produce and 30% off everything else. This sounded good but after checking other stores like Walmart and Aldi there really wasn't any savings after the closeout prices. It's sad that the store is closing and loosing employees but Piggly Wiggly should really get more competitive on prices if they want to stay in business. The store was really nice and clean and the employees were helpful even though they knew today was their last day of business. I hope they are able to find a job that makes up for the lose. We did have a nice visit overall.

The fruits and vegetables are, in my opinion, substandard ie over-ripe, extremely large pieces (Russett potatoes the size of a small football). The meat department has good quality cuts, but again, add 10% and it is not a bargain. One may think that 10% is not much, but it sure is. How would you like to earn 10% on your bank savings account? Now the reality starts to set in, huh? I find that it's store brand Best Choice is typically very good compared to name brand products. The location of the store (Fort Smith) is more of a convenience than anything else.

They have their 'Aisle of Shame' which always has so many delightful items to choose from at great prices. This location doesn't have a self-check. Don't forget to bring your grocery bags and your quarter for the cart which is refunded when you return the cart. My only complaint at this time is that they don't carry their Steakhouse (?) potato salad all year. They said it's only seasonal which I think is ridiculous. I would eat it all year round for sure.
