Having dealt with three of the major big box bulk quantities stores, I like Sams in particular. Its selections of brands & items fits our needs. A wide assortment of items. Maybe not as wide of a selection range for each category as with more specialised stores but the prices are usually much lower. If you buy gift cards a lot, Sams gift cards are priced a bit lower the value of the card. A bit of easy to miss savings there. Stating the obvious: This type of store is not everyone. If you can't buy & store the quantities of the items sold, a lot will go to waste. But if find you can reasonably use the items, it's a great deal. read more

This is my go to Sam's. They are usually well stocked. I like to buy my bottled water from here. Very reasonable price. I'm usually picking up other things needed but not on my list. Certain things I would rather buy here because of the size. Such as my detergent. Family size wings. Frozen Seafood is one of my other favorite items. With such a variety of items to choose from. I will continue to patronize this establishment. If you're looking to buy smaller items. I would stick to the grocery store. I am so glad I have an additional freezer. We stopped by this Sam's Club at the start of our vacation to stock up on supplies for the week. The experience was very similar to our hometown location--good selection, fair prices, and easy to navigate. We usually skip the café, but hunger got the better of us, so we gave it a try. To our surprise, the pizza, hot dogs, and frozen yogurt were all pretty tasty--and you can't beat the value. This is our local Sam's club that we frequent at least once every other week. After visiting a few of the local grocery stores, and receiving spoiled meats, it's pretty much the only place in the area that I trust & they've never failed me. I always get fresh, quality produce, breads, and being able to scan your groceries while I'm walking around the store is top tier. Throw in the inexpensive membership gas prices and you've got zero complaints out of me. I did deduct one point because I've had a bad experience once or twice with a particular member of the cafe crew. The pizza is always fresh, gigantic, delicious & inexpensive & the berry sundaes have been my favorite since I was a kid, but sometimes it's not worth dealing with the headaches of being treated poorly. I go to Sam's Club mostly for meats, Salmon, and grilling/BBQ spices. We don't need all the bulk food products but a whole pork loin (pork chops), a whole Beef tenderloin (steaks) or ribeye's twice as big as the grocery store can all be found here at prices lower than the grocery store. This Sam's Club is well lit, always clean (my POV), and when I've had to engage an employee they were friendly, polite, and helpful. I do like when I visit and the bakery is in full swing. The smells of sweetness carry's across the warehouse. Yes, there is a yearly fee for use of Sam's Club. But I've found the savings on meat across the year paid for the membership. read more

Warning to anyone getting beverages in the food court: The ice machine has visible mold growing. The clear plastic cover where you can see ice come out of has growing black mold on the inside. ALL THREE MACHINES have this disgusting mold. That means each time you fill up your cup of ice, bits of bacteria is falling in your cup. It's actually a health hazard!!! The machine needs a serious deep cleaning and service otherwise that mold is going to continue to grow and get more people sick. read more

I was in your Severn Maryland location this afternoon. Friday July 5th. I was sitting near the hotdog location when I overheard an older gentleman who said he was a regional manager berate a younger worker who I think accidentally pre wrapped up some hot dogs. She said she only worked there for 2 weeks and the venom this regional manager used on this your woman was horrible. He actually said "do you know who I am" If this is how regional management treats its staff I will be canceling my membership. I wish I caught the man's name but it was an older caucasian male who I believe he said he was a regional manager who was in the store on his day off. I am not sure why this sams clubs ratings are all over the place. I have been to this one a couple of times. Always great customer service and a clean store. The only reason I am ringing them a star is the sales people in front as soon as you walk in. That's annoying. If I was interested in what was on your table I would come and chat with you. I ordered ahead of time, selected my date/time of pickup, received a text confirming my order is ready, notified them which parking spot I was in by texting back, and then within 5 minutes an employee came out with all of my items and helped me load them in the trunk. The club is clean enough, but best of luck getting down aisles, as they only seem to stock during open hours. There aren't enough self checkouts, so checkout can take a while because most people aren't too bright. The absolute WORST thing about this club is the fact that, after checkout, getting out the door can take over five minutes since they inexplicably have to rescan every item in everyone's carts. The Sam's Club has a huge parking lot. I think you could lend an airline on it if it had to run short of BWI. Other than that, the store is not as large as you would think compared to the parking lot. It's layout is different then the Annapolis store, lower shelves and more items in the center. Overall, he can't really go wrong with Sam's Club, they are about the same with the same items. This one seems to have a bigger and nicer auto and tire center and seems to have more cash registers but I'm not certain. The bathroom does have paper towels, unlike Annapolis which is a big plus to me! This is conveniently off I 97 on the way back from Baltimore to Annapolis but then again so is the other Sam's Club if you take Crownsville Road rather than 97 all the way to RT 50. I think the meat department is smaller than Annapolis and some of the other items of fresh food. But some of the frozen food in refrigerator food items seem to have more quantity and variety. Check it out next time you're nearby, and oh yeah, the gas station isn't right next to it it's on the way in on the left closer to the main traffic light. read more

If you are in the area this is a definite stop for gas but nothing to go out of the way for. I guess that all depends on what type of car you are driving. If you got a gas sipper then sure make a trip to this Sam's Club for gas and knockout some shopping at the various places in the general vicinty. If you have a gas guzzler then that is why I mentioned hit this place up if you are in the area. This place is just a gas station so don't look to annoy people by parking your car at a gas pump and going inside to do your snack shopping. Just in case some are wondering yes you need to be a Sam's club member to use the pumps by swiping your card. You have a selection of premium, regular, and diesel. Oddly no midgrade. Prices are almsot always cheaper than any other gas station in the area but WaWa tends to match the price of Sam's continuously and it is about a quarter of a mile away. So you can go there if you like holding up parking spots. Its quick in and out self service they way more gas stations should be. read more

For some reason, Yelp is saying I am from San Francisco, but I live in Glen Burnie, MD. The only reason I am giving one star is that Yelp doesn't accept ZERO STARS. My family has been a Sam's Club member since 2007 and shopping at the Severn, MD Sam's since 2015. Until recently on October 7th, 2024, the service has been good and respectful, but my experience that day has made us have second thoughts about going back to Sam's again. I received a Sam's gift card and before redeeming the card, I checked with the Customer Service Desk to see how to use the gift card for my purchase and they said I could simply have the cashier scan the bar code to credit the amount from my purchase. WELL, I brought my cart full of items to the checkout and the cashier was mishandling my items - putting heavy items on top of my bananas and putting cold food on top of hot food. When I asked her not to handle my items that way, she said rudely that I could fix it myself after she finished scanning like she was in a hurry. I reminded her that was not nice and she did not seem to be concerned. When processing my purchase, she tried to scan the barcode, and it did not register and told me it would not scan, so I asked her to call the manager and she rudely said that even if a manager came the code would not scan as if I made an ignorant suggestion. As politely and slowly as I could, I asked the cashier to please call the manager and finally she called the manager. The manager, who was very nice and helpful, tried scanning the barcode and it worked with no problem. After the manager left, I asked the cashier her name and she said angrily, "I'm not giving you my name!" and acted as if she was the victim, which caused a man in the line behind me to yell at me that I am rude and to "Get out of here!". I turned to him and said he was being rude and that I wasn't talking to him, and he came after me and the woman behind him grabbed him to stop. I felt I was in danger and may need to call the police. I went back inside and spoke to 2 managers about the incident and pointed out the man who tried to attack me, and they said if it was a customer they cannot get involved. This was troubling to hear that the security they have is not to protect the customers. What is the purpose of the security officers and cameras? After that, I pointed out the cashier who caused the incident and they said they would speak to her. I said this is not good customer service. I do not feel safe shopping at Sam'a now that it appears they don't protect you when you are shopping there and there are Sam's employees that are making the problem worse. I'm also a member of Costco and haven't had this experience there. I preferred Sam's to Costco, but I don't feel safe there now and will just go to Costco. Sam's should understand there is a choice between them and comparable stores and not take their customers for granted by not concerning themselves about the safety and treatment of their customers. read more

I brought tires on-line. When I tried to contact the Severn store for installation at least 10 times no one ever answered the phone. I finally had to to go to the store in person. I was told it would be over two weeks before I get them installed. Sam's Club has a major management problem. It does not have a person to sell tires and check out installations. They do do have enough technicians to install the tires. The tire workers are plain tired. You can see the lack of management support in their eyes. They are afraid to speak out against the bad store manager. Bottom-line is that Sam's Club just does not know what they are doing. Pay the people a living wage and get 2 more people. Stop taking advice from consultants. Or, get out of the tire business! read more

I was looking for tires and came to compare Sam's Club versus the Toyota dealership and NTB... NTB wanted to charge me respectively $1,200 to $1,400 for tires for my vehicle. Sam's Club had a better warranty, and under $700 I was out the door. I also needed one of my tire sensors replaced. Toyota charges $393 for 1 sensor. Sam's Club installed a aftermarket sensor for $65 and programmed it. No more lights on the dash...Problem solved! the only negative thing I experienced if you want to call it negative was the amount of time that I had to wait for them to do the tire job which was well over two and a half hours. the store needs to have a clerk answer questions at the front desk, and not the technicians that need to do the work. read more

I've been to multiple Sam's Clubs and this Sam's Club location is my location of preference. It's located right off of highway 97 and if you are traveling south and take the Quarterfield Rd exit, you ride straight ahead conveniently. For starters, they have a gas station right before you get to the club's lot. And I love that all you have to do is scan a QR code at the pump and you can pay right through the app. And it's always the lowest gas price available in the area. The club... plenty of parking available and designated parking for curbside pick up orders which are brought out to your car and placed in the trunk by the store's associate. Inside, masks are required, carts are always at the door ready to grab, inventory always fully stocked, they have quality products, the best prices, the store is clean, the staff are helpful, hot rotisserie chickens almost always available, the pizza tastes yummy, and more. I really don't have anything negative to say except I do wish there were consistently cleaning products available at the front door for the carts, and the line is always long. But I never have to get in the line because I use the Scan & Go function in the app that allows me to scan as I go and also pay for my purchase. It then provides you with a QR coded receipt that's scanned at the exit. I'm always in and out like the burger joint! Also, I don't know if this is every day, but typically on the weekends there is a food trailer serving yummy barbecue available for purchase in the parking lot. I always enjoy my shopping experience at this Sam's Club and I encourage you to try it out for yourself. :-) read more

We bought new tires but first checked to see if the installation people could drive a standard transmission and were told YES. When the tires came in, they called. No one at counter in store, people in installation said "we can't drive that car, go back in the store because they need to let us know you are here". Seriously. Back into the store, back to installation, my wife has to drive into the shop onto the lift. We'll call you on the store speaker when ready. They did not. We are very senior citizens. She had a shopping cart loaded with heavy items and 3 young men in their 20's watched her empty the cart into the trunk of the car without lifting a finger to or offering to help. She drove the car home and parked it in the driveway. 5 days later a neighbor pointed out a slice on the outside of one of the tires, like someone had carved it from back to front with a razor. It was a pretty big flap shaped like a tongue. She took photos, went back to the store, cashier looked at photos, looked at the tire and said "you ran into something". No, I drove it home, without running into anything and parked it. The slice was from back to front and If I had backed into something to make the direction of the cut, there would be car damage as well since it's on the outside of the tire. He said "yeah, well you must have run into something, I see a couple of 'dings' on the hub cap." This is a 20 year old Mustang in pristine condition, and the hubcaps are original...you installed a defective tire. "Nope. Too bad, so sad, you have a blessed day now". I would not buy tires from Sam's Club again. read more

I visited the Severn Sam's Club to return a clothing item that was not a fit. After waiting for over 10 minutes, the associate at the counter waved me over, no greeting or pleasantries, just a wave. I let him know I wanted to exchange the item for a different size and he mumbled "you have to go get another one and bring it up". I confirmed that I had to go get one myself and he nodded. After returning with the item, he was helping another customer so I waited next to the spot he had placed my return on. He looked at me and said "all these people are next". I let him know he had already started helping me and he sent me away after waiting in line once. He smiled and said "that doesn't matter, you're going to have to wait in line again" very smugly. After trying to explain I didn't have time to wait again, and seeing how long the line had become, I took the item and said I would just leave. (admittedly I did tell him his service was terrible and to screw off, which was out of line on my part, but still no excuse for his behavior). As I was walking away he loudly laughed and mocked me, which really upset me. I walked to the cashiers area and asked for a manger. The person I spoke to said she was a manager and asked how she could help. I explained what had happened and she said "what choice does he have, it's either laugh at you or argue". I told her those aren't the only options and the service was not up to Sam's Club standards. She said she'd talk to him, but I did not get the impression she had any real concern for my experience. She asked me if I'd like a straight refund and I said "yes". I asked if the first employee could have done that and she said "yes, but it's not his job to offer, you have to tell him what you want to do". Had I been informed I would need to wait through a long line for a second time, but I had the option of a refund I definitely would have taken the refund. This is the worst service I've ever experienced at any Sam's Club, and as an ex Sam's Club employee I know they are expected to treat people better. Avoid this club at all costs.
