I hate to leave a bad review but when it's earned then it's earned. I've frequented several Sam's Clubs across Mississippi and this one is by far the worst run. The management here is being held together with twine and paper clips, and it's easy to tell that the staff are treated terribly and have no motivation to succeed because of it. Not only do they consistently understaff every department to pad their profit margins, but they overwork those already under supported employees. The poor girl in the bakery told me she had been there 12 hours because they would not allow her to cut off orders the day prior (the day before a holiday) and she was the only one scheduled the next day as well! The store is constantly dirty, and the bathrooms are usually a wreck, and I can't tell you how many times I've witnessed members walking out without anything because the stock is terrible. Pro tip: drive to Memphis (an hour and a half away) and swing by Costco! Clean, beautiful, and friendly. read more

I ordered something from Sam's Club online. It took my money, but it didn't give me an order number. I checked my credit card. They had took the money out of my credit card. I called Sam's customer service. They said they didn't have anything in my name or with my phone number that I ordered but they took my money cause it shows on my credit card like I said it sam is the most horrible despicable place besides Walmart to shop. The people are roomed unprofessional and so are the customer service people I called them about it and they put me through to 10 people and the last person hung up on me. I'm from San Antonio Texas and this is not how we do things. This is the most horrifying horrible experience I've ever experience it said my order would be delivered on Saturday. I ordered my granddaughter coat and some more stuff and they said it would be delivered on Saturday because they were gonna have cold weather here on Monday in the 20s, so now she has no coat I would 10 out of 10 not recommend ordered anything online with Sam's or Walmart shopping because they are so rude. I liked this Sams Club. I had no problems. I got in and got what I wanted and got out. As I was walking up front an associate asked if I was paying by credit. I said yes. So, he pointed to the self check out which was cool customer service. I'm glad I checked my self out because it was convenient and at my own pace which was "no hurry". I like to buy my oranges from because they are grown in California. They are bigger than the normal Florida oranges and better. I also like to get paper plates from here. The items sold at Sams Club is in bulk. It costs less for more and it last longer. read more

I've had the membership here now 8 months. The prices are ok. I had Costco for years and the costs and quality were better, but there isn't one here. The biggest deterrent now for me to go is I can rarely escape the parking lot without being hassled by someone saying they need money. This specifically keeps happening at this location and at the Walmart close by. It hasn't happened to me at Kroger or Aldi's, so I'm thinking they can do something about it. I went to buy a mattress, drove 45 min away, because they had it in stock. The Serta Matress was on the very top shelf. I went to customer service and asked if she could get someone to get it down for me. She made a call, I literally heard the guy say, I'm off duty till 3 (about 40 minutes) they have to wait......I run a business and I would never make a paying customer wait. Things are constantly out of stock. But, I guess that is just apart of life right now. Parking lot is always clean, bathrooms could use some work. Hard working cart "grabbers." And the little food court is good & cheap! I'm glad they finally brought the salads out, and are available. I wish they had everything that they advertised, on their video menu. Oh and they do now have sushi rolls, but they are alllllllll the way in the back, by the bread & frozen meats. They would sell more, if the were in the cooler where they put the salads. It could even possibly help the flow of the one, or maybe 2 people working the little food court counter. Because the sushi is already made, they just need to pay for it, then eat! Manager on duty was completely insane. First I asked at the door, if I am returning Jewelry do I make a return at the Jewelry counter or the regular return counter; he said the regular return counter. After waiting for 20 minutes I was told returns for jewelry are made at the jewelry counter. I asked for the jewelry manager, and he was short and small in stature, so I described him as the small man when I ask to speak to if he was big I would have described him as a big man, and she accused me of calling him names. She then ask the other customers their opinion of my reference to his as a short man. I asked if I could take a picture of her badge so I would have her name, and she started running outside. So when I left the store she called the police while I stood there waiting to be picked up by husband. The police asked her if I had stole anything, at first she said no but then I don't know maybe. They asked her if I assaulted anyone and she said no but I had followed her out the door and I had asked for her name and tried to take her picture. My suggestion to the Manager is to place nicer people on the checkout line. At Sam's Club is the only store of it's type in Tupelo. So we go there to shop frequently and we are frequently disappointed by the quality. The way they stock their shelves, the fact that there's hardly ever any selection in the meat department and this is on a daily basis. They have been out of yogurt the past two weekends. They just say we don't have no yogurt today but they never apologize or provide any kind of explanation for being out yet again. The staff seems very disconnected from the customers they're rude they're lazy they move slow they don't seem to work well together the people up in the front that we're working today were up there was one lady that was taking all the people in line and somebody in the back and we got a couple pieces of pizza and there were no napkins so I went up there to tell them they were no napkins and between those two employees they cannot figure out how to get napkins and the one that was trying to find napkins started throwing things around obviously angry. Luckily I had bought a giant pack of paper towels so I opened my own package of paper towels at to get napkins out for my daughter and I to eat our pizza. The employee did not bring out any napkins until well after we were done eating our pizza but I stood there and watched at least 20 customers come up looking for napkins and many of them were just shaking their heads trying to look in the cabinets underneath and nobody ever called her manager there's nobody over there to apologize and then all the sudden they brought out this package of napkins that clearly they had picked up in the back of the store which were not even fit in the dispensers. The people at the food shop upfront are very unfriendly to customers - they act like you're putting them out by being there they never greet you and say may I help you, they look at you and say yeah? Several weeks ago when we came in to get food for a barbecue that we were planning we were in the section back by the produce and there there's a case there that they sell pies and cakes out of and there was a giant cockroach that was pinned underneath the lid of the cake. We routinely buy fruit there only to come home and find out that there's rotten moldy fruit inside the fruit bag-so we are definitely not gonna continue to buy fruit here. What's sad about this is that they have a captive audience in Tupelo because people in the city have no choice to go anywhere else if there was a Costco here I would never set foot in the parking lot of this place again unfortunately there are things that we buy here that are less expensive so we have to come here to get them otherwise I would never be shopping at Sam's Club in Tupelo again. Let me also add that I have been a Sam's Club member for many years and have frequently shopped at Sams club all over the country as I've moved multiple places and in my entire time of being a Sam's Club member I have never seen such a poorly run store as what we have in Tupelo. Well, another year since I edited my Tupelo Sam's. And another low for the Tupelo Sam's Club. What are they thinking...I was in the store at about 4 pm 11/13/2018. Needed one item so went to the register to check out and guess what...there were 10 people (not counting all those at self check out) with large orders ahead of me. Generally, no problem...10 people 4 or 5 registers open 5 minutes max. Oh but no such luck. At what was a busy time of day the store management saw fit to open only two register lines. What were they thinking...oh I see now, make long lines to get people to use self checkout. Well in my case, it ain't happening! This is a move to reduce employees to boost corporate profits while tanking customer experience. I'm about ready to burn my Sam's card and drive to Memphis to use Costco once a month. Costco has a better selection of more quality items and not a single self checkout register. I talked to the on duty manager and he gave me a song and dance about resources corporate gives them all the while apologizing for my experience. I call BS...they had the registers but failed to adjust staffing to cover the during a busy time of day. If I wanted to do self check out I'd stay home and shop Amazon! Bottom line the Tupelo Sam's Management sucks. I haven't decided if I'll ever go back or not. Some of us here may be country bumpkins but we aren't sheep! Tupelo Sam's Management, get your act together or you will go the way of the Dodo. It's been 6 months since the review below where I rated the store and customer experience at 1 star. I am happy to say that we have noticed a marked improvement in both the housekeeping and customer service representative attitude at this store. I am raising my rating from to 4 stars. There is still room for improvement but overall the overall customer experience has been improved. Been a member of Sam's Club for many years and visited stores in numerous cities and states and I must say the Tupelo store has surpassed all others in the level of non customer service. My husband made a trip to purchase a tv and waited an hour in line only be told when he got to the register that the club didn't take visa credit cards. However, my he was trying to use a debit card with plenty of money in the account - but he didn't want to argue with all those people in line . The lady was very rude and told my husband he couldn't use the card so he got out another card and showed it to her to use (which was a business card with a great deal of money sitting in the account) and she wouldn't even let him try to use the card. He got very frustrated and just left the $2000 tv and sound bar at the store and headed back home (an hour away). I called to talked to the manager who informed me that he heard the whole thing and it was just a misunderstanding- well to me it was a huge misunderstanding - it cost my husband a great deal in gas, and a day of traveling and we will never visit they store again. I love Sam's as much as anyone and, as a caterer and baker, I do a lot of shopping there. I have started doing some pickup orders, as this saves me a lot of time. I placed my order online and went to pick up at the designated time. In the past, I have used the kiosk to key in my order number and the associated brings my order out. Yesterday, I saw that they had removed the kiosk, so I asked an associate if someone could get my order. She told me that I would need to download the App before I could get my order. I explained that I did not know that and I asked if someone could please get my order this one time as I had an event and was in a hurry. She said no and I had to sit down somewhere and download the Application, retrieve my password from my email and then go through all the steps for pickup. This was a 20 minute process. After I clicked the icon to check in and answered the questions, I waited another 10 minutes and finally asked again if someone could help me. They could tell I was getting frustrated and finally sent for my order. The order was not completely correct and the associate had to go back through the store to get an item that was left off. This entire process to pick up about ten items took around 45 to 50 minutes. I could have went through the store and got my items myself and been checked out and on my way to the event within 15 minutes. Sam's really needs to work on their customer service in this area. There is no need to place a pick up order if it is going to take 3 to 4 times longer to get it to you. Come on, Sam's Club, improve this area for your customers! read more

I enjoy taking a day off and taking an hour and one half drive to Sam's in Tupelo, MS. When I arrived, I was greeted at the entrance with, "we don't have any carts, if you want a cart, you need to get your own in the parking lot." People were scrambling looking for carts, and complaining. I tried to confront an employee by the name of Amelia, telling her what was going on. Amelia rudely state, I am busy, and I am being pulled all over." I went next door to Wal-Mart, and got a cart. Trying to enjoy my shopping about 10 minutes in the store, this lady, comes up to me and states, "they described you to me at a T. I am the manager (Patricie) and I have been here since 6a.m. this morning, and I have had 9 employees call in this morning, and I have to take care of this store, and I went and got carts myself from the parking lot, and I have to give the cart man a lunch break since he work 6 hour, and I, I, I, I" That's what caught my attention, was everything she was doing. Patrice had absolutely NO management skills. Never once did she say how she was going to resolve the problem, but everything she does in the store. I strongly recommend that the district manager gets involved, so Patricie has help that she is not the only one working at Sam's in Tupelo, or get a manager that knows how to manage and utilize other employees in the store that walk around. read more
