Keep driving past all the chain hotels/motels by the interstate and pick a place closer to the main strip of shops and restaurants. We were personally greeted by the owners upon arrival. For the first time EVER staying at a B&B, we were allowed to select our rooms from the ones available by visiting each open room. We've probably stayed at 15 B&Bs and nobody has ever let us snoop into all the open rooms (they're usually locked). The owner visited with us on the back screened-in porch for a few minutes before letting us get settled in. The rooms are all tastefully decorated in shabby chic decor with crisp white spreads and linens. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with a shower stall and basket full of fresh, white towels. The bed was SUPER comfortable and we had the best night's sleep of our entire 8-day trip. Breakfast was served promptly at 8:30 am and the owner sat down to enjoy the meal with us. We really enjoyed hearing stories and getting a bit of local culture - it's the best part of traveling. If we're ever in the area again (and we hope to be sometime soon), we'll come back to the Creole Cottage. This would be a great place for several couples to stay and have some privacy but also access to the common areas (dining room and back porch where they stock a mini-fridge with bottled water). The folks at the Creole Cottage treated us like family, and we felt like we'd walked into the pages of Southern Living magazine. Hint: be sure to try the "mayhaw" jelly - it's a local favorite and delicious! We had it on buttered biscuits along with eggs, thick cut bacon, grits, fresh fruit and hot coffee. Perfection!

By good fortune, we booked Creole Cottage on Cane river in walking distance to good food and live music. As an Innkeeper myself, I know a 5 star when I see one and this one earns every star from minute of arrival until your reluctant departure.Warm southern hospitality, immaculate and cozy quarters with a delicious breakfast each day seems to be the norm there. We loved it. The icing on the cake was the innkeeper's "tribal knowledge" of food venues and local sites. Natchitoches is a must go and Creole Cottage is a must stay!

The rooms are fairly large and clean. The hvac in the rooms worked. The courtyard looked nice. The parking near the hotel was nice and the overflow parking is on the next lot. Did i mention location? Breakfast was hot and fresh - eggs, grits, sausage, toast, juice, coffee, and yogurt. The server greeted us with a smile. The negative: on our first room the lock was broken. We requested another. The hallways were really stuffy and hot. They did not have comforters(bigger, thicker comforters. . They have thin blankets - which we had to go for to fetch extra of... (they did not bring up). Front desk staff wasn't overly friendly. Neutral: we didn't try the bar. We'd probably come again. Just don't have too high of expectations. It was reasonably priced. The owners should read the book Outrageous Hospitality. With a few adjustments this place could be incredible.

Looks can definitely be deceiving. When we first arrived, I thought, "What a cute little hotel!" on…read morethe outside. Unfortunately, that impression vanished the moment we checked in. After our experience, I'm honestly not surprised by the terrible reviews on here. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We stayed for just one night in 2022 on our way to New Orleans, and it remains the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Check-in was fine, but when we got to our room, we pulled back the blankets and found Cheetos dust and what appeared to be pubic hair in the bed. Completely unacceptable. It was clear they didn't change the bedding after the last guests. After we complained, someone came up to change the bedding but it took a couple of hours which caused us being delayed at exploring the very cute and charming city. She was on her phone the entire time, dressed in what looked like pajamas, and didn't greet or acknowledge us once. She just changed the sheets while chatting on her phone which was beyond unprofessional. Later that evening, we went down to the bar, where the bartender actually got MAD at me for asking for a clean wine glass after handing me one with lipstick prints still on it. The attitude alone was enough to make me want to leave right then. He was severely dramatic in dealing with it. On top of all that, the bed was uncomfortable and bouncy, the room smelled strongly of mildew, and the entire stay just felt grimy and unpleasant. I still think about how miserable that night was ... it honestly gave "never again" energy. A lot more happened during that one-night stay, but honestly, I'll leave it at that. I can't say for sure because I had no proof, but I felt like we were being watched all night, and between that and the bed, I barely got a wink of sleep. To make matters worse, the hotel staff was impossible to reason with when we tried to address our concerns while there and tried to call us liars about the dirty bed even though there was visual proof... Checking out was somehow even worse. We'll never go back. Gross.

Super 8 charged us $93.60 for room, & $78.60 for taxes & fees. After considerable arguing, calls to bank & threatening a lawyer, Super 8 reversed the $93.60 for the room, but only $48.87 for taxes & fees. So they ended up charging $26.13 for taxes & fees. Even though Expedia said all taxes & fees were included in the amount paid to them. I called Expedia. They are looking into it. Room was clean except corners of floor in bathroom was filthy. We'll NEVER stay there again & recommend no one book there! Expedia said it appears that Super 8 in Natchitoches is not following their contract.

It also smelled like smoke in the hallways, when i was bringing my suitcase in. I am a non-smoker. It was very, annoying. I booked this room through an online third party platform. My reservation was not able to be found right away, then we had an issue with the card on file when it was found. After the process was completed and I checked my bank account. I had SEVEN pending charges for $50 dollars each. Yes they are pending, and i was told they would fall off at check out - but if i hadnt had over that amoumt of $350 it is possible my bank may have declined a charge for dinner..... The bed was not very comfortable. They had almost a wool textured blanket. In the bathroom, paint was peeling in several areas. My faucet leaked when the water was turned on, and not a small drip it would basically dish out more water from the rear of the handle than it would into the sink. There was also an electrical socket in the bathroom with no protective plate.
