The lake has a little beach the kids enjoy which is a big plus. We love having a washateria nice showers and restroom at the front of the park that are very clean. They also have a propane filling station. The owner comes by every morning to get the trash with his tractor. They were hit by a tornado. last year that did quite a bit of damage. i was in the area for work and my dad asked me to go by and take a look so we could book a spot for our campers for a couple of week. I was so disappointed. I called my dad and sent some pictures. he couldn't believe it. little work had been done to restore the park. They did rebuild the fish cleaning house. they had a new fishing pier being built. nothing like before. we would take our party barge and take mom and dad out for boat rides and fishing. the new pier doesn't have boat slips like the old one so they aren't able to get on and off the boat and unloading it every time is a headache. The old pier they would take their lawn chairs and cooler sit on the pier and fish and visit with the locals and other fishermen. there is no way that can happen now. the pier has a fence around it that is to tall to sit in a chair and fish. I drove around the park looking for a good spot for the rv and there were very few as not all the waterfront lots have been releveled.. our new rv has 3 slide outs and most of the spaces are to small. the park up keep has declined. trash bin areas are falling apart and only saw about 2 picnic tables that look sturdy enough to hold all 4 of us. the roads in the park need graded and new gravel. I went in the store to get a burger before I headed back. i asked about the rebuilding. i was told they didn't have any insurance on the park and no money to get thing all done. i was told by a gentleman in the store that people donated quite a bit of money to help them out. that some fisherman donated counters for the fish house. i follow them on face book and saw where they had been in business for over years and was looking forward to 50+ more. i personally don't see that happening if they don't invest back into the park. If i had donated money to help rebuild the park back to what people loved and appreciated enough to donate to it i would highly disappointed. it is a shame we won't be spending our 2 weeks there this year. this is so sad to see....

We…read morewere there for 2.5 days and we managed to finish ALL of the (walkable) trails in the whole park. The park is small but gorgeous and has lots of things to do. Camping, swimming, fish, kayak/canoe... we did two evening swims, and one where it was completely secluded. Absolutely magical. Sadly didn't spot any gators during this trip, but we saw lots of deer and armadillos! The mosquitoes are wicked tho so be sure to pack loooots of bug spray. Our bug spray had DEET in it and although it detered them a bit, it didn't stop them fully. It also rained twice for a little bit over the span of two days so that was really nice considering we come from austin and we haven't seen rain in a few months. Our first shelter actually ended up flooding so staff allowed us to love our things into another available and dry shelter. So anyway - overall we had the most amazing camping trip here. Pros: everything Cons: mosquitos We definitely left here covered head to toe in bites! Haha.

At any rate, the park was clean and quiet. Got a full hook up for our RV at a reasonable price. There's a gas station nearby and it's right off I-20. There seems to be someone in the office 24/7, so it's convenient if you're getting in late at night. Overall nothing bad to say about this place.

So guess who ends up picking up trash all the time? That's right, me! Sadly, I see more and more trash every time I go, and that is a disgrace. A clean park lies on the citizens like us. If you see trash, please pick it up. Bring a bag with you. Every lit but that we do, will. Ake a big difference collectively. Don't expect others to pick up trash, please help and pick it up!
