I really reserve one-star reviews for establishments that go out of their way to ruin my experience of something; the SBSC is not a great facility, but they're not actively doing anything to make it bad-- it just is what it is. A large expanse of grass surrounded by spike-top iron fencing helps keep the substantial population of homeless in the immediate vicinity from accessing the plat fields, but parking is $10 per vehicle, and there isn't t nearly enough of it. Unless your kid has the first game of the day, you're gonna have a bad time finding a spot. Parking outside exponentially increases the chance of enjoying a vehicle break-in, even in broad daylight. Once you establish there are no spots, they sometimes open a lot across the street at the school. This gives you a great view of the open field chock full of homeless and tweakers... several are using sports-themed EZ-UPS as makeshift shelters, ostensibly lifted from the backs of pick up trucks. As for the field, there are two bathroom/snack bar buildings, and they're nowhere near your kid's game. Or your car. Remember that scene in Poltergeist when Jo Beth Williams tries to run down the hallway and it just gets longer and longer? It's kinda like that. Restrooms are old and run down, but I did see staff trying to clean and restock one time. The fields are a melange of grasses and weeds, mowed low and under-watered, and about the same hardness as a Target parking lot. One positive: the facility is only a block or two from the freeway, so when it's time to leave, you don't dilly dally or find yourself navigating the lovely streets of Highland for too long. Not sure why they keep scheduling tournaments here, but maybe that's just a dissertation on the shortage of decent youth sports facilities in SoCal. read more

You cannot park near the fields where you are playing bc staff blocks off sections even though there are plenty of spaces open. They close the gate in and have a line of cars waiting in line holding up traffic in the intersection for no reason! Again there are parking spaces available! Parking lot is run by teenagers . While some teenagers can be astute , unfortunately the Caucasian female on Sunday march 9th at 2pm who was manning the gate has no sense of respect, professionalism, problem solving skills, and better judgment. I made a parking mistake , I didn't see the signs on the sidewalk. Signs should be placed at least a mile before the main entrance. Reason why if it's so important to get into a particular lane then it's super helpful and considerate to display better visual signs at least 1 or two miles from the entry way ,so that people can prepare, and not make a correct turn into the parking lot. Having to pivot at the last minute can be unsafe . So I was too invested into entering the parking lot. I was half way in , the young girl manning the gate told me to go in reverse , stood in front of my car with arms crossed. I was surprised by her aggressive approach. She closed the gate on us, she insisted on me going in reverse . This created a long line of vehicles, I had no space to go in reverse , cars screeched to stop , she almost caused a catastrophic car crash pile up . I asked her can I go into the parking lot and pop back out for the sake of abiding, I told her it's not safe to go in reverse , and I would go in and pop back out She said no, she saw the chaos and unsafe situation and insisted for me to reverse. I told her "it's unsafe and a car will hit the five cars in line" she replied "oh well, not my problem". What a disgrace. I understand , I made an error , I've never driven to this place coming from the opposite side of the street. I didn't know this facility had this rule. There was no way of me reversing while cars are driving at 40 plus mph. She could of used better judgement, made an exception due to circumstances. She could of allowed me to go inside the parking facility , communicated the policy and had me go back in line the way she wanted me to, but instead seeing the chaos , she allowed her pride to dictate the fate of all the stopped vehicles. There's kids in these cars and she says "oh well" that was her rebuttal, "oh well, not my problem" What a horrible approach to life. First things first, in chaos, prioritization is critical. Let me in and I would have driven Right out . No problem, no one hurt. This company needs to train and make sure everyone is aware that safety comes first. This could have ended very bad. At the end , I went into reverse , I almost got rear ended along with the five cars behind me. I drive to the lane she directed me to, I finally approach the entry gate and showed my ticket re-entry and I said "thanks buddy" and she denied my entry. Not sure why? She told me to leave which I obliged. I parked in the neighborhood which was much closer to my field anyways. She followed me and directed the two Latino teenager males to follow me. I felt harassed. What an odd encounter . Unfortunately, she is in a position where her lack of quick thinking , decision skills are not up to par for this role. Communicate and problem solve . We could have solved it like rational adults but instead her initial response was aggressive and decisions were irresponsible. Be careful future visitors. Be aware and don't expect cordial adults manning the parking area. read more

Wish I would of read the reviews for this complex before going. Besides the fact that we were given a late notice for this tournament, I would of had more time to do my research before getting there! Worst parking ever. Disorganized! There's a long line to get in. With a "parking full" sign. They let some car go in but you have to wait. They have these kids running the parking lot with no sense of using their brains! They have someone driving around looking to see if there's parking available which there was on the right side but they kept sending everyone to the left. The parking around there have a lot of signs that I misread because the whole street was filled with parked cars. And all one side had parking citations. Been coming to this complex for years, parking has always been an issue. Besides price gouging, its very unorganized and so many rows of cars were trapped for hours. The refs are always crap here as well!! They show favoritism and never called fouls, while our players kept getting injured. And the city conveniently only restricts street parking on Saturday and Sunday. The worst part is that for all that money-grabbing the fields are crap. The parking lot is terrible, and the field numbering is inconsistent. Stupid, stupid people planning the field layout: Field 16's goal is right against the field 13 sideline. All of the near misses on goal go straight at the backs of the players, coaches, and families at field 13. We had two kids get hit in the head during our game. Lazy workers got tired of taking everyone's money, so they closed the parking even though there was plenty left. This soccer complex can vary with the number of fields dependent upon how the fields are set up. Seventeen full sided and greater than that when the full sided fields are converted for the younger age groups. There are two separate permanent buildings with restrooms and a attached snack bar. More times than not there are additional vendors when events are scheduled at this facility. There is a small covered area with patio tables although it is small in relationship to the size of the complex. We have been here for several soccer games and tournaments. The pros: they have decent vendors selling everything from coffee, water, breakfast burritos to cleats. The people running the vendors are friendly and willing to give you a deal. The cons: you have to pay for parking! $5-per car. What ripoff. You would think all the money they make in parking and vending they would have better upkeep of the fields and bathrooms. Not the case. The fields ate uneven, the grass is horrible and even if you pay for parking you're not guaranteed a spot. For $10 parking you expect more, like bigger parking stalls, they are too small and pose an insurance danger. There are no nets to protect the cars from balls. The western side is where bad shooters can hit your car. Some fields are dirt at center of the pitch. It's super crowded, you could get hit by a ball at any time. Parking is a mess - be prepared for a long walk. No re-entry with your $5 charge? That's a 1st. CAL South makes us drive from beautiful Orange County only to play on fields that look worse than a cow pasture. I mean seriously... they are dangerous for the kids. The area is not that safe as we again were warned about parking across the street that our vehicle may be broken in to. WTH? So you add up 16 players per team per game (32 total) that is 32 cars driving 120 miles round trip... with gas at: 4 bucks per galloon... that is about 20-30 per family just in gas. that is 1000 bucks per game plus ref fees.... it is just ridiculous that this is handled this way.. oh well.... We attended a two-day tournament here and felt it was a good experience. We were prepared for the $10 parking, and we got a good spot each day. The restrooms were clean, the snack bar had a variety of snacks and beverages. The fields were decently maintained. The only real problem was the congestion on the streets surrounding the complex. There was a long line to get in on the first day but the attendants were pleasant when we finally bought our ticket. It took a long time to get back on the westbound 210 freeway when we headed home, and the first day I thought that was because so many cars were leaving the soccer fields at the same time. The problem persisted the second day, however, so I suspect that it's just a bad intersection. read more

Pros: At least you have a pretty view of the SB mountains (if there's no smog). Cons: Parking here is horrible and there is only 1 entrance, the line to park backs up and you miss half of your kids game. The surrounding area is horrible, we see anything from syringes, condoms, trash, and that's only if you park 1 block away. Oh and there is always someones car that gets broken into in broad daylight, so don't park too far. The fields and restrooms are in horrible condition. Restrooms smell like a raw sewage facility. My kids HATE playing on these fields. Did I mention it was in the ghetto/barrio/hood and there is no decent restaurant to sit down and eat. Since can't write a yelp review on CSL, it happened at the complex! Was totally appalled when a CSL ref reffing a 05 game told a parent to shut up three times and then stated they would take care of it after the game, sorry but any real man is gonna Defend himself so he confronted the ref after the game and asked him why he told him to shut up three times when he was talking to the girls on the field, the girls told the ref that was to busy visiting with the other parents from the other team instead of watching the game that the girl was offsides that just scored which she was, and the parent chuckled and said ya he missed that one girls and that's when he proceeds to tell the parent to shut up three times and we will take care of it after the game!! Then he just started filming because he knew he caused a fiasco and didn't want to own up to what he said but h most the girls on the field heard him!! Best part yet is one of the thirteen year old girls got suspended for two games for simply voicing her opinion and in America I thought we were aloud to do that and telling the ref when she was leaving that he was one of the worst refs she's had and I'm sorry but it was a fact actually not an opinion, but do you think the disrespectful ref got in trouble of course not because the CSL only got the Refs side and asked no one else! Which is totally unfair! Now you have a little girl said and upset that she was singled out and punished for that but he was not punished for his actions as an ADULT and should know better she is thirteen, and just had to lose because of a ref not doing his job, so since being punished and suspended she doesn't want to play anymore! One tournament here and you won't want to come back. This venue does little to insure the safety of the players. If you have an injury there is no communications available to call for help ( radios, etc ). But rest easy with a 5 minute walk you will eventually find an ice pack. They will be in the unmarked tent were the players are catering for their own injuries. Other torments have medical within sight of each field. Not here you could barley see the med tent from most of the fields even if it were marked. Oh and they will charge you $10 to enter a parking lot with no open spaces. Since being taken over by Elmore Sports Group and Professional Sports Network noticeable improvements include reseeding of the premium fields, updated restroom facilities and more folks driving around the sidelines in oversized garden tractors, which seem to be damaging the grass and buried utility boxes. Parking is this complexes achilles heel, which now doesn't allow same day re-entry with regular fee, but for $15.00 valet you get same day re-entry. The group offers off site parking at elementary school which allows re-entry. The best parking deal is Disable American Veterans across from entrance, although small allows re-entry, very friendly. read more

In the recent tournaments that our team has played here not only were they charging $10 to park there BUT if you did not park inside the complex you then had to pay $5 PER PERSON to get in. Why?!
