We were visiting Prague and San Carlo was next to our hotel so we stopped in. The pizza was seriously the best! It was so flavorful and had the perfect texture - airy dough with charred crust. Service= D. Slow, and waitress seemed grumpy. Took at least 10-15 min for her to even come take a drink order. Food came out timely. She never returned even once to check on how we were doing, or to ask if we wanted refills of our empty glasses...and everyone at the table would have ordered at least one or two more beers/wine. Food= C. I had lasagna...I thought it was very dry, bland. After 2-3 bites I knew it was a bad choice. My wife had pasta, it was simple. Good enough, but nothing spectacular. Daughter got the margherita pizza. Great crust, but after that just average. Bland sauce, looked like the pizza was floating in fluid. I've had better meals at The Old Spaghetti Factory--which should tell you how disappointing this experience was. The venue is cozy, no issues there. But was expecting far more based on reviews here. Don't believe the hype...or at least if you try it avoid the dishes we ordered. You are FAR BETTER off going across the street to Nova Pinta and eating in their bar. I am from Chicago and was in Prague for a 4 day trip. This is hands down the best pizza place we found! We came here 2x in a 4 day time frame. However, the waitress was short and not very welcoming (they were busy so I can understand this), but then they forgot my other friend's meal. When we were finished with our finely crafted pizzas, we asked about his pasta and they completely forgot about it. He was very understanding but the staff didn't really apologize for that major oversight. It is a small enough restaurant with a competent wait staff to know that the patron needs an apology for, um, not getting any food. We happened to have rented a VRBO nearby for our family trip to Prague (from Oregon/US if that tells you anything about what we should like). The people running this restaurant were very polite and kind. On our first night we tried to walk in, but they were full and very apolgetic that they could not accomodate us. The next day we made a reservation for 7pm. Its a small place and gets busy. Atmosphere was relaxed. Nice place, but not overly fancy. We had bottle of chianti, beer, dinner for 5 with desert and it cost under $100 US. Plus the wait staff treated us like family. Given the good quality of food and the size, some might complain about being hard to get into or feeling rushed. We were never hurried and felt welcomed throughout. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get a good meal and relax. read more
