Stopped in as 7 with reservations on a Sunday about 2pm. The restaurant is casual with Inside (step down) and outside cafe style seating all adorned with red & white checkered tablecloths. Plenty of wine and beer choices. Wait staff were very attentive. Starters were burrata salad, fochaccia bread, eggplant Parmigiano, meatballs and house salads. Mains were burrata and three cheese pizza and spaghetti. Everything was hot, delicious and plentiful. Came here late afternoon on September 2023 while visiting Prague with friends. A friend suggested this spot and I'm glad we came here. There was no line so we got seated right away outdoors. Started off with bruschetta which was solid. And for my main, I got the diavolo which was really good. It was a Neapolitan style pizza and it was huge and uncut (not cut into slices). This place was definitely my favorite spot to eat at in Prague. I could be biased since I love pizza. I never would have expected to find the best pizza outside of Naples here in Prague, but hey, there are still wonderful surprised to be had in life. My husband and I grew tired of the traditional Czech cuisine (fatty pig knuckles, bland schnitzel, goulash) while visiting Prague, and we decided to try this highly recommended, small Italian spot next to our hotel in the Malá Strana district. The welcome smell of garlic and yeasty pizza dough hit us immediately. We ordered a Salad Misto and a La Regina (mortadella, pesto, mozzarella, pistachio) pizza to split. Holy cow were we blown away. The toppings were perfect, the crust both chewy and charred in spots, and the flavors exquisite. We both moaned how good everything tasted at least a hundred times. Then, despite our full bellies, we split a cannoli, because, well, why not? It was equally fantastic. Service was excellent and prices were more than fair. We went back 2 additional nights after that. If you find yourself in Prague, you NEED to try this place. read more

I did pizza to go but it seemed like a busy little place. I would suggest probably getting a reservation to guarantee a table. It only took 10-15 min for my take away pizza. The staff was very friendly to me and there was a chair for me to wait at so it was all very pleasant. I asked for a beer while I waited and the waiter patiently answered the couple of questions I had about their selection. I think he either forgot or it got too busy, but the beer never came. He realized this when my pizza came out and sent me with a beer to go which was a very nice gesture. Also, while I was waiting a Tesla parked in front and put on a little performance, playing a tune and the doors did a little dance. Very random, but it caught everyone's attention. A rich looking man stepped out of it and picked up five pizzas from here. So, if a rich looking man who likes a good show is eating here you can guess it's probably good. The pizza was good. Very soft easy to eat dough and the sauce had a lot of flavor. I'd give it more like 4 stars but the overall experience will bump me up to 5. read more

My sister and I visited Prague during Thanksgiving and were looking for a change. We came across the reviews for this restaurant and decided to try their pizza. We made the right choice. The pizza was delicious! The crust was the best as well as the other ingredients. It was so good we returned but this time I tried the lasagna-delicious and my sister tried a calzone also delicious but big. The staff is friendly and attentive. I was in Prague for roughly 2.5wks and probably ate at the San Carlo in Malá Strana for MANY of those meals. What a gem of a place! The prices are great and so is the quality of the food. I may have eaten half the menu, at least. The pizzas are fantastic and so is the pasta! I think I gained a ton of weight eating there, it was just that good. In addition to fantastic flavors, quality ingredients, and wonderful food was the staff. We very much enjoyed Igor (we saw him a lot). Igor and the rest of the staff gave impeccable friendly service. We also enjoyed playing with Miki (this adorable little jack russell terrier who loved playing fetch with a lemon and sat on his little bed to great customers). We loved sitting outside to people watch and enjoy the beautiful weather with our bottles of Prosecco. I would recommend making a reservation if you want to sit outside when the weather is beautiful. The outside seating out front can fill up really fast. I can't wait to come back to Prague and eat at this place again!! read more

I simply wanted a pizza place to get a little work done and I (sorta) found it. Not an ideal place to work, but a great place for some pizza. I ordered the margarita pizza and it came out nicely done. The crust was so thin and floppy and was quite hard to eat with just one hand. Crust was delicious, along with the generous portion and mozzarella on top. I rarely take a box home here in Prague, but this time I did. It was a pretty good value off a cute street. They were kind enough to bring my bill right to the table. My only complaint is they took a while to get my box at the end. This is my current go to for pizza. read more

San Carlo is an outstanding Italian restaurant attached to the Alchymist Palace Hotel. There is inside seating as well as an adjacent garden (across the alley) with a number of tables. Definitely go for the garden. You can easily walk here from the Charles Bridge in five minutes or so, and it will provide a restorative break from the crowds. We tried the pizza, pasta, and salads, and they were all excellent. The prices were reasonable considering its proximity to tourist hotspots and the quality of the food. The service is impeccable. Being an Italian place, there are plenty of options for vegetarians. Even if you're not eating, this would be a great spot to grab a glass of wine or coffee and recharge. read more

Walking into San Carlo, you immediately feel transported to a small town in Italy. The pizza chef and his oven are in open view of the patrons, and are the first thing you see, and smell, when you walk in. The seating area might be construed as a bit cramped, but the decor is wholly authentic, from the dangling garlic and peppers, to the mural adorning the walls. You can hear a multitude of languages, most prominent of which is the Italian banter between the pizza chef and his staff. The waitstaff is friendly, attentive, and engaging, and the menu provides a variety of options from pizza to pasta to salads, all incorporating traditional tastes. We were in the mood for pizza, and thus ordered the Capriccoiosa pizza for 245 CZK and the Calzone Napoletano for 225 CZK. The food arrived after an average wait, and was doled out in quite a heavy portion. The calzone was very rich with ricotta cheese, that somewhat overpowered the other ingredients. The pizza was delicious, with the fresh red sauce balancing salty mozzarella, ham, and sausage nicely. Of course, I'd have preferred more meat, but it was definitely a solid choice. Next time, we'd skip the calzone and maybe have a go at one of the pasta offerings. While it was a bit pricy for lunch, overall, it cost about $20 for the two meals and a beer. Would go again if I were in the neighborhood and in the mood for an authentic Italian meal. read more
