Even though Jessica focuses on Fertility Acupuncture, I recently went to her because of some lower back / buttock / hip pains that I've been having when I was improperly fit for inserts at New Balance. A friend of mine had great success with her for fertility acupuncture so I called to check if she by chance treated back pain. To my surprise...she did through referrals but her specialty is of course, fertility acupuncture. I was very happy because she came highly recommended. Unfortunately, her week was booked but she had one available spot for me on Tuesday and I quickly jumped on it. I'm all about alternative medicine these days after a back injury last year and being pumped up on steroids, pain meds, muscle relaxers etc--so I was ready and willing to give Acupuncture a try. If you're afraid of needles...you won't even feel the one's she uses. With the exception of two, I felt just subtle pinches but it doesn't hurt at all. Acupuncture was painless and the 20 or so minutes that I laid there, it was so relaxing - my mind literally went blank. And that's hard for me to do because I'm always going a 100 miles/hr. I'm happy to report - within a day, I could totally feel the difference. I went in again for a second treatment yesterday and the pains I were feeling are now completely gone. I'm so relieved! While I didn't use her for fertility acupuncture she did an amazing job on my back issues making me very happy that I called her. I'd highly recommend Jessica, she's a true professional! This might be TMI for you fellas but for us women that might have awkward cycles like myself, my cycle this month was right on time and lasted longer than usual. I first went to see Jessica in 2012 when I decided to try acupuncture after a failed IVF cycle. With her services, my second cycle was much more successful! I had only one egg retrieved in the first cycle, but with the second one, I had 6! I ended up having her also come to the embryo transfer for an extra session, which I think made all the difference. I now have the sweetest 6 1/2 year old daughter, thanks to her! I recently went back this past year because we want to try for a sibling. I can't say enough great things about Jessica Chalnick and San Diego Fertility Acupuncture. Becoming one of her patients changed my life, because now I have a beautiful, healthy one-month-old baby girl. Prior to going to Jessica, I had irregular cycles and had been diagnosed with PCOS and put on Clomid, and the Clomid worked to conceive my first pregnancy, which unfortunately ended in a devastating late loss at 21+ weeks. I went back on clomid but did not have success conceiving again during the next several months. A couple of friends had recommended that I try acupuncture for fertility, so I did a google search and saw that Jessica's practice was located right around the corner from my house in Encinitas. My husband and I decided that I should give acupuncture a shot before moving on to a fertiity specilaist that uses only Western medicine. Jessica immediately made me feel very comfortable, and it was so nice to have someone perform a full evaluation of my lifestyle, diet, and exercise. I liked that Jessica isn't extreme about any of the changes she suggested. She also prescribed Chinese herbs. I found out I had lean PCOS and wasn't ovulating so Jessica helped prepare a diet and exercise plan along with acupuncture treatment that helped my body get back on track (rather than jumping to fertility drugs such as Clomid and Letrozole). Being an avid runner and exercise enthusiast, Jessica recommended that I stop running altogether and only focus on low impact activities to give my body a chance to recoup. After my third early miscarriage (over a year and a half of trying) I called Jessica for help. We were so sad and frustrated. Being told that you have "recurrent pregnancy loss" and "unexplained infertility" is scary because there's really no clear treatment.
