I'm disabled with constant hip, low back, and fibromyalgia pain. The treatments itself were fine, but after a few appointments I decided to stop. She kept trying to push these supplements on me which aren't cheap she wanted me to buy 4-5 different kinds and take multiple each day. That's not cheap and I'm disabled with no income. After I told her I'm on a budget I can't afford them she would keep insisting buy at least one. I don't have to buy anything, I'm coming for acupuncture not supplements. I had a very uncomfortable experience with Dr. Anna. I had insurance coverage for my treatments, but she convinced me that I should allow her to bill me outside of insurance. At the time I assumed there was a good reason for her to stop taking my insurance, such as my running out of coverage. I now know that was not the case. When I received the bills for around $400 per treatment, I was shocked. I don't write reviews much, but this time I feel I must. I have chronic sciatica and back pain and have been to PZW a several times for accupuncture with great results. But I never had Moxabustion treatment before. The results I received today are truly amazing and I felt I had to say thanks. About two months ago I tore the meniscus in my left knee, what is called a bucket handle tear with a flap. The torn flap goes in and out of the joint and the pain was getting worse until yesterday. I was scheduled for surgery this past Monday, but the Surgeon had some scheduling issues and my surgery was postponed a week. My knee was hurting so badly, I could not walk nor sleep. Yesterday Anna performed moxa treatment on my knee in the evening. The pain went down by 75% almost immediately with improvement thru the day. Amazing. I can actually bend my knee, sleep, and walk. Dr. Anna is truly one of a kind. Her energy brings a calmness to the room. I sought treatments with her for sciatica (crippling back pain) during a pregnancy. Not only was she able to keep it at bay from the beginning, I was nearly pain free throughout my final trimester. My partner has been seeing Dr. Anna for a few years whenever she needed help promoting her health. I still had no idea how amazing and effective her treatments were until I was deathly ill in August of 2020. I was awoken in the middle of the night with severe and extremely painful digestive distress. By morning I was bent over with pain and had a headache so profound it surpassed my long term migraine experience. Even though it was Dr. Anna's day off she agreed to see me. The ride in was a blur of pain and disassociation. I wobbled into her clinic in Encinitas and collapsed onto the treatment table. She applied acupuncture needles, she put me on an "energy medicine" machine in which she first tested me for Covid-19. She then began using that machine to assess and treat a number of issues that had to do with my liver, spleen, heart and interestingly enough my hips. After three hours I felt nearly human again. I've gone to Pure Zen and worked with Anna, several times, over several years to treat sports injuries and I can't say enough good things about Anna. At first I went kind of on a whim just to try acupuncture, but in the years since I've come to appreciate what it can offer and do think it's helpful. If you're on the fence about acupuncture, I definitely think it's worth trying and Anna is great to go to. I really like Anna's approach to treatment. While I'm not anti-western medicine, I do find that I'm often frustrated when I'm treated for sports injuries (RICE, a handful of NSAIDs, and two weeks...). Anna is definitely much more interested in understanding the cause of the problem and helping me to find a way to continue my level of activity. Anna is also a long time resident of the area and if you need a referral for something else, she knows a ton of good people to recommend.
