After my doctor's appointment on Thursday March 5th, she ordered me to get a chest x-ray and so i called San Diego Imaging Chula Vista office to schedule an appointment. They informed me that x-rays are walk ins only so no appointment needed. I asked what time they close and they said 5pm. The next day Friday, i had taken an hour off early from work to get my X-ray done and got there at 4:30pm. Upon checking in, I was told that all the x-ray machines have been shut down and they do not take anyone anymore at 4:30pm. Pissed, I left and came back the following Monday first thing since they open at 8am (i again had to take an hour time off before work since i start at 8am). Upon checking un at 7:50am, the front receptionist informed me that they have not received my doctor's orders. Luckily, my doctor's office is just next door so I went over and got a printed out copy and got my x-ray done. Fast forward to Wednesday, March 25 after another doctor's consultation, my doctor ordered again for me to get another x-ray. This time i had taken more time off work to go to my x-ray and got to their office at 3:30pm only to be told that they had shut down their machines early that day since apparently the staff came in early that day and had done their 8 hrs already so they got sent home. I'm like, how am i supposed to know that since their supposed hours is til 4:30?! I am beyond pissed. Do NOT recommend this place at ALL! Go somewhere else if you can. My orthopedic specialist ordered X-rays. I called to make an appointment, but after about 20 rings, somebody answered and brusquely informed me that it is walk-in only. So I walked in, and found a sign on the door that despite their posted hours, they were closed for the day. I found out later the X-ray tech did not show up for work. I tried again the next day right after opening, and was informed that the wait time would be about two hours! So, I sat and waited, and sure enough, about two hours later, I was called in for the X-rays. By then, the waiting room was literally standing room only, full of dozens of not particularly happy people. Sharp needs to do better than this. The message seems to be that patient's time has no value. My previous two decades experience with Scripps provided that I never waited more than about 10 minutes for an X-ray. Sharp Hospital, you're a major health care provider in San Diego, please do whatever necessary to improve this unacceptable situation. read more

I had a hip MRI here three months ago and it was the worst I've ever had. It was so painful you would never come here. It left bruises on my hip bones. I felt like they were trying to cook my hip it was so hot there. They told me the camera was under my hip. I told them it was too painful I didn't want to continue with getting the contrast but they told me it was almost done and my doctor needed it. So I hung in there. I just had a follow up MRI at Imaging Healthcare in Hillcrest and it was totally different experience. Zero pain. Don't come to this place for your MRI. read more

HORRIBLE customer service!!! I was referred by my doctor's office to call and schedule an appointment. The lady who picked up my call was just immediately rude. Like right from the start. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and remain pleasant, but she was just awful and her attitude got aggressive and worse for unknown reasons. It even got to the point of huffing and puffing into the phone - seriously! The appointment I ultimately received was for 5 1/2 months out. I ended up calling my doctor's office back to cancel and change to a different facility. If this is the quality of staff they have answering phones, I can't imagine the in-person experience. What a terrible way to represent San Diego Imaging - Chula Vista. Hopefully management will see all the bad reviews and do something about it. read more

The worst! MRI is old and incredibly tiny. But worst of all is their customer service. They would not compare my image to my previous one despite my neurologist calling them to ask multiple times. I left no less than 15 messages and never received a call back. My doctor's office had the same experience - called multiple times and never received a call back. I had a 3:45 appointment time for a PET scan. I checked in at 3:15. Was called back for scan at 4:30, then waited 1:15 for injection before scan. The nurse who injected me with the tracer and operated scan was actually fine. Nice, seemed skilled at what she did. However, I have 3 main complaints: 1) it took until Tuesday afternoon for me to receive the radiology report. Honestly, I've never had to wait more than 24 hours to receive a radiology report of any kind. My dr had to call them multiple times on Tuesday to finally receive the report. 2) the report read completely incorrect. It made statements about an organ in my body that I don't actually have because the organ was removed 2 months prior to the scan! Yet somehow this radiologist found malignancy in an organ I don't have. I've had 2 oncologists who know my history read the report and both of them have said "let's not get images there anymore," and "that sounds like a brand new radiologist or something." 3) I was told by the lady at check in to contact the billing office for an itemized statement (I paid for scan at time of service and needed itemized statement for reimbursement). I called the number she gave me a week later and learned that they aren't doing the billing for SDI anymore. They gave me number for new billing company. When I called the new billing company, I was told that they're showing no services for my account number, name, or birthday. The new billing service is apologetic and they say they're going to "dig into this" and see what the problem is. Perhaps SDI hasn't submitted all their billings yet. Overall, I'm super disappointed in the quality of care provided at this facility. read more

Husband had an appointment for a Pet scan. Check in at 8:30am. At 9 am reception calls him and informs him they do not have the dye for the Pet Scan. Claiming it wasn't delivered. Sounds like poor inventory management. And there was no apology. Just deflecting responsibility. Made another appointment for the next morning 9:30am. Didn't call him back til 10am...again late. Turns out you sugar have to be below a certain number to even have the Pet Scan. That was not told to him either. Luckily he had an extra 10 points of wiggle rooms. When I asked why they don't inform patients, I was told you number can be different at home than here.... Lol. Say what... I know they can change a little bit but not enough to make a different. Since he also hasn't eaten since the night before. And I asked about the not having the dye for the Pet scan and she told me it was a mix up with their other facility. Not sure what it true or a lie at this point. We put trust into the medical field and they can't get the simplest things right... I think they were tired of my questions and asked if I was going to stay with my husband the whole time. I said yes. Then she starts talking about the radiation. I informed her I am not able to get pregnant. She still tried to get me to leave and I said she is exposed this is all day long... I will be fine. They simply see people as dollar signs. I had my anatomy scan for my baby. My husband and I couldn't wait to see our little one. The environment was.... Well.. cold. Unfortunately. Granted, I understand their priority is the health and wellness of baby and making sure all the scans get back to the radiologist. It wasn't that it was other things. My husband wasn't allowed in the room for the first half of the exam. I understand that the tech needs to focus and concentrate in complete silence.... The second part of the exam my husband was allowed in the room. Then she spent seconds and I mean seconds...on each body part. After swinging the probe over my abdomen as fast as she could. She asked if there was anything else we wanted to see.. I asked if I could see the feet one more time. She swung the probe over the feet, flashed the feet..and just like that in seconds the exam was over. I couldn't even have a second to look back and my husband and smile and take in JUST A LITTLE MOMENT. Hurry. Hurry. Hurry. No video. No pictures. No smiles. Then out the front door. She printed some of the same photos of the head about 5 times. And printed a blurry picture of one foot for me. I definitely see why people pay extra for private ultrasounds. read more

Getting an appointment here is no joke, it's not their fault though, they are just doing their job (make sure your doctor's office does their part). I have dealt with the staff here a handful of times in the last 5 months. All experiences were pleasant. Staff genuinely cares. The receptionist are all very friendly and take their job seriously. I was referred to have an ultrasound for thyroids, that went pretty easy (July). I was also referred to have a mammogram in Early August and OMG, by the time my doctor's office had the right code for the referral, and my insurance approved it, I was finally able to get an appointment (this took days). Note that I called to schedule my appointment as soon as my insurance approved it, in August. SDI does have longer wait times, so a callback is a nice option. When the receptionist called me to schedule, she said she had something in Late November. I was in disbelief, I seriously thought what if it's cancerous and I'm dead before November! Again, I'm fairly young and have never had a mammogram before, the only reason why I was, because an abnormal finding during my physical. She tells me I can call everyday to see if there's any cancellations before then. So I ask if the other SDI offers this service and she says NO! By this time I'm really in disbelief. I schedule anyway, because that's my only option. Today I finally had my mammogram, and I can stop freaking out. First mammogram ever and I will never forget - Ms. Kim Stone. From the time I walked in SDI I was nervous, I started thinking of all the bad if my findings were cancer, my two young kids, and my husband, and my mom that passed away in June. Ms. Kim was so professional, but understanding at the same time. I am now sure that she sensed how nervous I was so she did her very best to make me more comfortable and made sure I didn't worry. She explained the whole process to me, she told me how it would feel, what to expect, what not to expect. To voice if I was uncomfortable, because it's not supposed to hurt. She answered all of my questions, without me having to ask them. It's as if she read my mind. She made small talk to get me to relax and it worked. She was fast and efficient and professional. She respected my privacy, while doing her job, this specific job! Ms. Kim truly cares about people, she cares about women, Ms. Kim is a woman, she is tenured in her profession. She is passionate and loves doing what she does. You can tell, she is happy to be there, she is happy to be able to help people. One thing I am sure Ms. Kim can agree with me is that more appointments / locations need to be made available for women's mammogram screenings. Right now it's just this SDI in Sharp that is doing the screenings. That is unfair. I got lucky, but what if I hadn't? Cancer? My tumor grew and went undetected, because I couldn't get an appointment for 3 months? We need more people in this profession, because Ms. Kim is going to retire soon! read more

Not a fan of this giant office, fairly well organized but the mandatory 30 minute wait is obnoxious and excessive. I brought our mum to an appointment here and as the time continued to tick I inquired about the long wait. Every person had the same clipped, rehearsed answer, "Your appointment time is 30 minutes AFTER what's written on your paperwork." Who does that? I acknowledge a 15 minute window is a necessity for check-in but 30 is downright unreasonable. And would it be so difficult for someone to apologize or acknowledge your concerns? Oh, how I don't want to write this review.... But, others should know what they're getting themselves into by giving this place business. My wife went here for an MRI. I have had several issues which require imaging. Every place I have gone to does a phenomenal job and I kind of thought that it was normal. This place let me know that not all medical professionals are actually professional. When my wife went in, she was immediately greeted with hostility. The receptionist was extremely rude! The reason is clear: my wife interrupted the receptionist's conversation... The conversation was with one of the technicians who worked there. It was about how much they hated their co-workers and the job as a whole. They spoke mostly in English. But, incorrectly thinking my wife wouldn't understand Spanish, said the worst things about their co-workers and the job in Spanish. One the bright side, the receptionist only used language I wouldn't want my children to here in English once. The experience was not pleasant for my wife. But she's a trooper and went through the process. When it was complete, the same technician who hated his job told her she could change and then left the room. My wife changed and left the room. She waited in an area in which everyone else was waiting to direction. However, she received no direction. Several staff members passed her and paid her no attention. Finally, a staff member , who had already passed for a couple of times, stopped and asked if she was waiting on another patient. My wife just said she was waiting on the results. That is when she went to find the technician who was working with my wife. He was at lunch. He came back in and found her only to treat her like she was stupid for waiting. The technician told her that the results take time to read and she would get a call when they were ready. My wife knows that this is a lie since I have often gotten results within an hour (as well as the fact that she's worked in offices that deliver the results same day). She waited for nothing, for almost an hour. They forgot about her, then made her feel like it was her fault. If you're ok with being treated like an inconvenience for bringing your business somewhere, I would still go somewhere else... read more

I made an appointment and showed up 15 minutes early. The gentleman helping me at the front desk was professional. However, the female technician in the back was very rude. She scolded me for not taking all the medicine prescribed to me beforehand. I informed her that I was following the doctors orders for taking the medication. She then refused to do the MRI, because I had an eye injury 20 years ago. I informed her that I've had MRIs done since then but she refused without an X-ray. She then said no X-rays were available that day. I asked them why they didn't send out the questionnaire days in advance instead of the day of. That way my time and theirs is not wasted. I have been going to this facility for over 20 years and as of today, as a retired RN, I would not recommend this facility. After scheduling my annual mammogram in a timely manner, I received a phone call today stating that SDI has shortened its business hours due to staffing shortages. SDI is denying care to their patients as they have not kept their facility properly employed with enough technicians. The hours that they have available are too short to handle the demand of the amount of patients that are sent to this facility for care. I now have to wait 3 months for a mammogram! It is up to all patients to complain about this extremely poor excuse! It is obvious that this facility has been mismanaged. Medical facilities cannot use the "staffing shortage" excuse any longer. The true issue is that the management has failed to be compliant with staffing and patient care. They have failed to maintain their integrity and continuity of care. They are heading into a future lawsuit. If anyone is diagnosed with cancer after being denied care on time, should put all the blame on this unacceptable excuse from the management. read more

I had an appt today and the service at the reception was terrible! They need clear signage to indicate that one is to wait outside the door if you have an appt and they will call you. I mentioned the need for signage to the receptionist and she told me they had a sign but it didn't work. I am handicapped and once in the reception area not enough chairs are provided. There was another elderly lady who also need a seat. They said the limit inside was 7 and there were definitely more. In fact a lady behind the desk reminded the receptionist of this twice. You feel like you are at the DMV The chair are sunk in a have stains on them , when you sit down it's like you are goi g to fall thru .The workers are mean ,and really rude . Right now with the corona Virus you would think they would take extra steps to make sure the place is sanitary , I'm sure they have enough money for proper cleaning and chairs . I don't have anything negative to say about this place. I've been here for three different medical tests, one of which was a pet scan. The technician was able to start my iv with just one poke of the needle! It's nice when you get someone who knows what they're doing. It's never fun feeling like a pin cushion! The rooms are cold. They have to keep the air conditioning on a low setting, because of their high tech equipment. I understand that. However, it's not a problem, because the nurses are kind enough to bring you as many blankets as you need. They don't judge or give you funny looks. They are very caring, friendly, and compassionate. When you arrive for your appointment, you will check in, usually with a lady who works in the waiting area. She'll take your name and let the office staff know you've arrived. When they call your name, they'll get your id and insurance information. It's pretty quick and painless. They've always told me approximately how long I have to wait before they call me to the back for my tests. I've never had to wait what I would consider to be an unreasonable amount of time. It's never fun when you have to get medical tests or have any sort of a procedure done. It's certainly not on my list of things I enjoy doing. However, if I have to get a scan done, I'm glad I have the option of going here. They've made the experiences as pleasant and painless as possible. read more

I was referred to SDI by my physician for a CT scan, and the day before my appointment, I received a call stating my insurance had been approved for a different facility, and I would have to pay out of pocket if I wanted to keep the appointment. I called back stating I wanted to keep the appointment,and the person I spoke to (Nelly) said that they would re-send the authorization from their end. When I checked in for my appointment, apparently that part of the conversation never made it into the files. So I still had to pay out of pocket, which I was prepared to do anyway. This made a stressful situation worse. Now that I have completed the test, my results are being held hostage. I hope I am never referred back to this facility in the future. read more

I am appalled at the customer service at this location. I am a military spouse with four young children and my husband is deployed. I took my daughter to get an x-ray as ordered by her doctor and of course had my other children along. I was told I can't accompany her into the room with my other children which I understood but then was told that "because of covid" we could not sit in the waiting room either and would need to go out to the lobby and they would come find us when it was time. So there we were in the high traffic entrance to the facility with no chairs waiting for 30 minutes for an x-ray. My kids were fully masked and very well-behaved. It makes no sense that we couldn't sit in the waiting room where the chairs are separated anyway. I wish our insurance would have billed to Balboa hospital instead. We are always treated with respect and dignity there. read more

January 9, 2023, I was in for Ovarian Cancer Ultrasound due to family history with Cancer. 2nd part of the ultrasound was next, I walked back into the exam room; During the ultrasound, she failed to use lubricating gel when she started inserting the transducer probe. I recall during the exam it was so painful I could feel the vaginal ultrasound end cavity probe transducer move inside. It was extremely painful & displeased due to ongoing distress. I felt the move back and forth through my ovaries and uterus cavity. I proceeded with placing both hands in my abdominal area to relief some of the excruciating pain and pushing both hands down my abdomen, to relieve the discomfort. I expanded both knees and legs to ease the pain. I was holding my breath and tears and was devastated, & a long painful process the time was forever, unacceptable! I realized something was wrong since the pain continued & could feel so much pain. I did not want to cry or scream this would make her stress, she was already having a difficulty of her own, & frustrated. "Do you really think I want to experience another ultrasound defiantly not in my lifetime. I assumed she did not have the expertise, or the ultrasound was not working appropriately. The ultrasound machine was having technical difficulties. It was not working right so my examination was extra, extra-long. She should have gotten another machine as a substitute. Another option is that the sonographer was having her own difficulties due to her lack of ability proficiency, which is also wrong and should've gotten another sonographer to finish my exam. "Final Report US Pelvis w/Transvaginal result date 1-9-23. Duplex Doppler exam was attempted but no flow could be detected by to be due to technical reasons." I informed her she needed to finish because I did not want to come back for another ultrasound, due to my trauma, pain, & suffering. I questioned her if she was almost done & her response was, I'm so sorry I know how painful I just had mine done too. After the ultrasound is completed, she walked away from the exam room. I changed my clothing, and I noticed the ultrasound image computer was on screen. The sonographer failed to exit the computer. It is her responsibility to alt control delete the computer for the privacy of the patients' rights. I notice on the left side of the computer my name and, ordering Physician in CAP letters, with MR# or account#. Working in Healthcare for so many years, were educated to shut down the computer when we walk away from the desk, at home, office, or any INP or OP hosp. HIPPA Regul & GL we never know who will walk into the room by accident to glance at PHI information. I observed a total of 75, 76 video clips, some had blue and red markings, others had red X on the monitor. As a patient I was traumatized, with the horrible ultrasound performed, was extremely painful, violated by seeing the video, imagining the worst that I had CA based on the red X's on the images. My REC to Mr. Rosberg, during my meeting with him in his office on 3-2-23, is to turn the monitor against the wall, my observation. His response is a good REC. They cannot alt control the computer this will delay the process for the next patient. Self-evidently where is the patient's integrity, for PHI? See below google search? What are 5 examples of PHI? Can't list limited the writing: I sat outside in my car parking lot for 30 minutes, crying, with pain I endured of the trauma. When I arrived home, I endured a severe (UTI). I called my doctor the same day. The next day he prescribed Nitrofurantoin Mono 100 mg for the next 6 days every 12 hours. On Friday, 1-13-23, evening at 5:00 p.m., I had a fever & starting urinating eight times within an hour, on 1-14 @ 5:00 p.m. I contacted my physician & suggested to go to ER. I've reported to UHG, nurses line, I'm an employee for UHG for 23 yrs. I know my patient rights and I am advocating for myself & other Pt who are treated here. UHG has communicated with me twice a month for with outcome. I understand working for this Co, they will take action and review the ongoing case it's been recorded on my file, with all medical expenses. I arrived at ER Sharp CV Ctr @ 17:28, was discharged @ 23:52, treated by Dr. Villani. I was DC with the following meds Cephalexin, docusate, Ondansetron, oxycodone-acetaminophen, phenazopyridine. I have had to follow-up with PCP, OBGYN, and physical therapy due to "Dyspareunia with ongoing pain" At home I did not want to administer Oxycodone- my doctor prescribed Naproxen 500 for pain. Upon DC I asked the MD what attributes to this her response was the manipulation of the ultrasound. The ED bill is 14K, I'm now responsible for 4K. I will be report the complaints, to CA Dept of Managed Care, & Medical Board. I'll never go to this facility! I'm now suffering from PTSD, due to the long internal vaginal manipulation. read more

Came in for mammogram my daughter ultrasound and lady that took our temperature was very nice and professional. Helped us fill out covid questionnaire and necessary paperwork. Then went to next step and went to registration. The lady in registration was an older lady with red hair very rude and unprofessional. She was talking bad about one of her co workers in front of me and my daughter with another co worker. That's not ok to do in front of other people . Also my daughter came for some tests and the same red head receptionist yelled at me to wait outside since my daughter is an adult... we are there together we both have appointments close together... Why should I wait outside ? Also what she don't know is that my daughter is disabled and I am there to assist her as well. I have POA ... I didn't want to embarrass my daughter any further by explaining our situation out loud for others to hear .. so I quickly left ... Don't come here for your testing if you need to this lady is ruthless and unprofessional. People are already having a hard time and having tests and are worried. we don't need to be treated like trash ... The lady that did my mammogram was a sweetheart and the doctor as well ... SDI needs to fire this receptionist. Or give her more training on customer service read more

Checked in earlier than my check in time. Now 35 min after my "appointment time." ...office staff just walked out to visit a potluck across the way. We were just told a "machine is down." Some ppl left because of the wait. Meanwhile, we just hear that staff eating and laughing, and heading back to the potluck. Looks pretty bad for being a "Patient Satisfaction Superstar" as displayed in the lobby. read more
