I have been to many different salons around the area but I feel they do not come close to the quality or customer service I have gotten here. As I am a professional, my appearance is very important to me so I expect to get the highest quality I possibly can. From my makeup to my hair and my eyelash extensions every added effort is appreciated. When it comes to eyelash extensions you have one of two choices. In the beginning there were so many salons, I decided to search online and get a few names to look into. I wanted to find a salon that offered the very best quality but also at an affordable price. I contacted some places but felt I was wasting their time with my questions or they just wanted me to book an appointment before even knowing anything about them. I feel like a lot of the La Jolla beauty salons have gone downhill over the years. They are focusing too much on being boujee, hip, and trendy, that they forget about the actual quality of their product. After a few bad experiences with eyelash extensions in the area I was considering going all the way downtown to try some other beauty salons that I saw with strong reviews. Luckily I didn't have to go that far away when a friend told me about Slay Beauty Bar in North Pacific Beach, right in the outskirts of La Jolla. She had amazing things to say about their eyelash extensions and spray tanning, and I trust her opinion so I decided to give them a try, I didn't really have anything to lose. Slay Beauty Bar definitely puts their focus into their services. The salon is very cute, nothing overally fancy or anything. That is just my style. My eyelash extensions tech was soo friendly and we chatted the whole time. When she first showed me my eyelashes I was blown away with how good they turned out. I probably got a dozen compliments on my eyelashes over the next few weeks. The stars aligned last week and I got an impromptu chance to help others grow and succeed in their passion and get a tan too! I was introduced to Slay Beauty Bar from a friend who needed a spray tan model, as she was learning the intricacies of spray tanning from long time tanning guru and Slay Beauty Bar owner, Kelly Callaghan. Not only is Slay Beauty Bar conveniently located on Turquoise Street in La Jolla, the decoration itself is turquoise and black and could not be more stylish and welcoming. The only thing more welcoming was the easy and warm personalities of spray tanner in the making, Pricilla and teacher Kelly. They welcomed me with warm personalities and expertly took me through the process and made sure that I received a thorough and precise tan. They answered my questions, provided me with maintenance information and even followed up the next day to see how I was enjoying my tan. I recently moved to the Pacific Beach/Birdrock area from La Mesa, and I was looking for a local beauty salon to go to that did eyelash extensions. I have always been pretty self conscious about my eyelashes. Unfortunately my entire family is cursed with thin and unattractive eyelashes. I feel like beauty salons are a dime a dozen nowadays. It seems like there is a new one popping up on ever other street corner around my neighborhood. I did some searching online but that didn't get me anywhere. I finally decided to approach my new neighbor who I had always noticed had gorgeous looking eyelashes. She recommended Slay Beauty Bar, which was actually only two blocks away from my apartment. I want to use Kelly once a month! This was such an enjoyable, convenient experience. Not to mention her UNBEATABLE price! Kelly is so friendly and makes the setting professional and comfortable. Her set up and tear down was quick and easy. The tan itself was a piece of cake. I've never had such an amazing spray tan. Everything was even and flawless. I felt like bronzed beauty =) I left for Hawaii 24 hours later, I hiked with my family, played in the sand and wave, showered every day, and my tan lasted my entire trip. Kelly at Slay is as an absolute expert in her industry! I completed her offered certifications in Airbrush Tanning, Body Contouring, and Fitness Competition Tanning. Not only was she so much fun to hang out with for long days but, her service was worth every penny! I came all the way from Montana to learn the art from her and I knew instantly it was the best decision. The training itself is entirely hands on! I tanned at least 8 different models in two days. She is there with you every step of the way, empowering and encouraging you through your new talent! The instructions of how to prep/aftercare were very straight forward and well explained. The place is quaint and adorable. It is warm and comfortable and the contouring and tanning process was very relaxing. As a nurse that works the night shift, I never get to see the sun or make time to tan myself. I've been to at least 5 different lashers in the past year and Kelly left me feeling the fullest and most beautiful! When I came to this salon, I was really impressed by how really talented and professional these people are. If you have never had a spray tan at this salon, you don't know what you are missing! I have had A LOT of Spray tans in my day, and I must say that my spray tan from Positively Tan has by FAR been my best tan yet. I was going to a wedding a needed a tan quick, Kelly used a fast acting solution on me and I only had to keep it on for 4 hours instead of 8. Her solution was amazing, it didn't leave that weird spray tan smell, and it left me with a golden, sun kissed, bronze tan.
