And the ones that remained were a sad little bunch of tourist hats, cheap cameras, bile, scooter rental, Real estate agents, some restaurants and a Spar supermarket. One good thing is that there is a German bakery that sells delicious fresh breads! - I may amend my review (good or bad ) in March '13 as I am going to Gran Canaria again. The building's 'promenade is going round in a Spiral and there is a fountain feature in the centre. Which is nice and cooling on a hot day. There is no real need to visit unless you go for a meal at one of the Steak houses or a grocery shop. They will accept the general credit cards - visa, MasterCard (most of the shop anyway) but they do prefer cash, especially in the restaurants. There is also a mini-golf and some jogging paths running around the building. Every Sunday there is a big flea market which is a great way of buying local ..stuff. 2nd hand, handcrafted goods, watches (fake?), sunglasses, (faker?!) and hand bags (too obvious..) but it is fun and something to do on a Sunday morning in the sweltering heat :o) - some vegetable and fruit sellers are a welcome addition (fresh raspberries are soooooo tasty) Hopefully this year it will be better.

Also included within the shopping centre is a supermarket. Surrounded by beautiful housing complexes the Campo International area of Maspalomas is very tranquil. In the shopping centre you will be able to purchase the usual Gran Canaria gifts to take home, plus a range of many other different products including electrical goods and perfume, As well as the many bars and restaurants .

After wasting a lot time, I finally went down to the Melaneros area of Maspalomas. I discovered a lovely galeria called Oasis Beach Boulevard Centro Commercial. There I looked at several stores before discovering the Klomoda Boutique which had a decent collection of two piece swimsuits with the tops in Cup Sizes to E. I don't know about you, but I am a Cup D with a very small ribcage and I almost never find swimwear that fits my curves. Here I found many styles and for only EUR35, - which is very inexpensive for the high quality in this small upscale boutique where you still have the sales people pull things off the rack for you and give you caring sales attention and help. The pareos were unique in quality too and only EUR19.- as they were all on sale. Ladies! Check this place out if you are as frustrated as I am with the horrible fit of most suits. I met the owner, who was passing by, and he also helped to serve me with great discretion and politeness. The shop is owned by a couple who actually work there. No corporate chain store here. Check it out! Also this whole area is charming and has good shopping if you want just about anything. And most stores are privately owned for a change. I loved it!

Yumbo is the center of Gran Canaria gay universe. During the day it mainly caters to tourist…read moreshopping, carnival amusement and budget dining. At night almost the whole plaza turns into a gay wonderland of bars, restaurants, drag shows, dance clubs and even cruise clubs. The variety of gay nightlife is wide with something for everyone. Crowds can be hit or miss. We thought it would be more busy on the weekends, but so far that's not the case. Maybe everyone is in Barcelona for the huge circuit party. Still it's a fun place to bar hop and watch the nightly parade of people. Restrooms are surprisingly clean for such a huge plaza.

There's plenty to se and do here after a nice evening meal or lunch. The restaurants cater for all from, Chinese Buffets to Stake BBQ's. The nightlife is persuaded more to the Rainbow flag cultured folk but certainly doesn't dismiss any heterosexual couples of families. There's plenty of DragQueen shows which cater for the +18's as they can be a little rude :D later on there are clubs and late night bars. During the day you can have a walk round this multi-storey shopping centre and buy duty free Cigarettes and liquor or just presents for the family back home. They bake fresh bread, have fresh vegetables and good deals all year round. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The opening times are very convenient as they stay open till 9 pm or so. Over the past 4-5 years I have yet to discover a new face at the checkout and it is nice to see familiar and friendly faces. The girls all speak foreign languages and are more than willing to help you out with translations or even sorting out your grocery needs! I am very pleased that they are there and they deserve an special mention on Yelp and indeed on other review sites too! Thank you for making our self catering holidays more pleasant.
