He was a notorious outlaw in the area. Thankfully someone had attached GPS coordinates to his grave. I didn't know where his grave was, so I simply punched up the GPS coordinates and took a leisurely walk to where he is interred. Of course I took pictures and added updated GPS coordinates. There were a few other memorials I "worked" while I was out there. There is a slave portion of the cemetery. My mother and I paid our respects to one and all. Please check out this cemetery.

We weren't able to find AW Grimes here or at least Google didn't want to cooperate. There are many old gravestones dating back to the 1800s for those looking to see the carvings. This cemetery is pretty clean and the newer graves are closer to the front entrance. There sadly are some graves where the headstones have fallen down and broken and I wish some folks would come here to do cleanings of the stones but it is what it is. There's not much else to see here other than the historical area I mentioned before. Parking is a bit limited toward the front. It's all gravel, nothing is paved.

Inscription: "In 1873, George and Harriet (Standefer) Cluck purchased a large amount of land in this area, which they found to be rich in cedar trees and limestone. Their ranch and home became the central point around which the Cedar Park community developed. A post office was established in 1874 and was named Running Brushy. Harriet Cluck served as an early postmistress. When the railroad came through Running Brushy in 1882, the community's name was changed to Bruggerhoff to honor a railroad official. Five years later, the current name was adopted. Cedar Park was the scene of much growth and activity during the latter years of the nineteenth century. A community school and church building was constructed, and by 1892, a landscaped park had appeared along the rail line. George Cluck noticed the increasing popularity of barbed wire and opened a cedar yard in which he made and sold cedar posts. Cedar Park did not see much growth during the first part of the twentieth century, and by 1960 nearly all traces of the earlier community had disappeared. During the 1970s, however, the growth of Austin led to a population increase in this area, also, and the city of Cedar Park was incorporated in 1973."

This cemetery is located about a half mile west of Highway 183 and not far from a small town of…read moreAndice. It sits in the quiet peaceful Hill country far from the noise of civilization. It is primarily a Hispanic graveyard with less than 100 burials. There's no sign at the front gate and there's still plenty of space behind the current graves for additional ones. Despite its remote location, many of the graves are still visited by loved ones leaving behind memorial tokens. Many of the burial sites have a home built and personal touch to them and others have the standard granite headstone. Most of the graves are recent and some date back to the early 20th century. This is definitely a peaceful country cemetery, but civilization is slowly creeping closer.

Thing Two has been here for multiple girl scout events (including today). I have voted, worked out, played racquetball, sat with my thoughts in the community garden and so much more here. This is one of the best community centers I have ever seen. As I have lived in this community for many years, I have seen this community center evolve from the basic amenities to what now houses an adequate sized gym, a racquetball players dream, an indoor regulation sized basketball court, a place to meet friends and so much more. It's often times like this when I realize that I am so fortunate to live in a community that is able to fund such an amazing place where the community actually comes together to celebrate our common interests. #bewellcentraltx

A busy road in front of it, residential homes nearby, and a storage facility directly behind it. The property is relatively well cared for, and even the older headstones from the late 1800s have been cleaned and restored. Like pretty much all cemeteries from this time, people did not live very long and you see plenty of infant and child graves. This may or may not be an active cemetery anymore since the last internment here was in 2012. I did find some Woodman of the world markers and a confederate soldier grave. One thing that was conspicuously absent was a Texas historical sign. The pictures included tell the rest of the story.

People in my neighborhood have to pay a yearly fee, per person, for a library card, which makes no sense, since we are in the same town. Please, make this make sense, because it definitely does not. I thought libraries were supposed to be free for all, since they're public.

Still pretty underdeveloped area in the Co-op so there is always plenty of close parking. Happy to see they took covid protocols seriously as well. I'm still getting used to a smaller town and smaller library so I wasn't over the moon about the books they have, but it fits the community needs as a whole well. What I mean by that is there is a large children and YA section and also a fairly large more current fiction section. I read more nonfiction and memoirs and classic lit. A lot of the classic lit authors (like Kurt Vonnegut) are sprinkled in the YA section which is a bit confusing. Hopefully they grow and add more sections and choices in the future. Love using the Libby app with my Central TX digital library card from this library. You can even renew your books online on the library website which is very convenient!
