A fantastic, well-maintained park. The playgrounds were upgraded back in 2024; and in 2025, the splash pad revamp completed construction. In May 2025 they commenced splash testing, and finally it was opened. Now, everyday of the week you're see high usage of that water area by small children watched by their parents or guardians. They've also replaced some grassy muddy areas by the bathrooms with turf. Additionally, the path behind the dam has been redone, with fresh gravel, and perhaps a smoother surface underneath. All-in-all, some nice enhancements to park. Come spring, you can check out the field by the lake, and watch for a sequence of floral wildflower blooms. Sometimes you might see a turtle strolling around near the lake, and sometimes on the path between this park and Champion Park. Plenty of dragonflies also tend to hangout near the path behind the dam. If you're lucky, you might also encounter Crictor, a snake from the children's book. A flock of Muscovy ducks hangs out near the boat dock, usually under a specific tree, although you might also find them on the west end of the park. If you're looking for herons, the marshy area near the dam is a good bet, or the lake area slightly south of the west pedestrian bridge. The dam pathway offers good birdwatching opportunities. But if you're not interested in wildlife, plenty of folks bike, walk, run, photograph, dog walk, kite flying, and hold parties in the park. The individual pavilions can be reserved for group usage, and those who wish to drop a line usually do so in the shaded west side of the park. The sand volleyball court tends to have high usage, but the pair of bocce ball courts less so. If you want to rent a kayak or canoe, you can do so; there's a shack near the dam, though I'm unaware of their hours.

Brushy Creek Lake Park is a 90-acre park that offers active and natural resource-based recreational opportunities. Facilities include a playground, water playscape, hike and bike trail, nature trail, exercise station, three pavilions, picnic tables with BBQ grills, sand volleyball courts, canoe/kayak launch, fishing pier, wildlife observation area, labyrinth, restrooms, parking area and a 38-acre lake. If coming here to go on a hilke, it should be noted that most of this trail is paved and, as such, many bike riders are on the trail. Yesterday, Thing One and I did a 20-mile hike here (the trail is 14 miles round trip, but we looped back through it) to finish BSA requirement for his hiking merit badge In the early hours of the day, 5 AM - 7AM, not many hikers nor bikers are on the trail. In the afternoon, those with kayaks can be seen in the water. Also, for those who seek to kayak, it should be noted that the entrance to the water is surrounded by brush, and it is difficult for one person to get a kayak in the water without assistance. In addition, the Splash Pad here is closed and is anticipated to open later in the summer of 2024. This is a great trail with some shaded rest areas along the way. #bewellcentraltexas

Huge park close to the lake with a lot of fun activities for all ages. You can go on a hike on the trail through the woods or kayak in the lake. There's a play area for younger and older kids with swings, tunnels and slides. There are a few shaded picnic areas with tables and seats for group hangouts.

Very nice public park in the community! Very refreshing to walk around and feel nice breeze! Many people were fishing and that made me want to try fishing next time when I come around here!

What a nice park! Love the trails, the lake, and the open expanse. I saw bikes on the dam, and you can even fish at the lake. There's a playground and volleyball net too, and a pavilion with picnic tables. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of parking though, just a couple small lots.

What a beautiful park. Came Sunday after noon for a little picnic with a friend. It's very large and spread out. The parking lot is pretty big too. Some picnic tables scattered around. Grass was green. Some bluebonnets were out. Was hoping to see more, maybe too early still. The lake is gorgeous. Saw some paddle boards and kayaks and lots of people walking their dogs. Was such a beautiful day to be outside and enjoy that new spring weather.

My husband and I went on a lovely walk this morning at Brushy Creek Lake Park. It was our first time and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Their trails are endless and the scenery is beautiful. There was a full field of bluebonnets and tons of people taking pictures. It seemed like the bluebonnets were truly endless and it was such a beautiful view by the lake. We will definitely be back for our morning hikes / walks. I highly recommend!

Nice park with some decent seating near the water. I would have liked if the grass was maybe cut more but considering the size of the park it might be hard to always get around to it frequently. The bike tool machine is helpful for folks who do ride their bikes around the trail.

Love this park, lots of friendly wildlife (we know how to handle wild animals, so if you don't please be cautious). Good parking, trails, fishing, small kids park (although us is run down), with bathrooms and a mini water play area. Posting a photo of a pet bunny we found Friday, July 9th 2021.

One of my new favorite spots to go mountain biking. I entered onto the trail from "Suburban Ninja" and was immediately dropped into a pump track. Shortly after that I crossed a bridge and had a short climb. After that it was smooth sailing. Lots of trees, windy paths with minimal rocks. If you're in Cedar Park, this is a must see.

I loved this park, I keep coming here again and again. It's a local park, it's free, and offers plenty of stuff to do for families: a splash pad for little ones to get wet on a hot summer day pavilions for parties and gatherings, a big playground for kiddos, clean public restrooms tons of benches to sit and chill beautiful wild flower fields (seasonal) ducks hanging out by the water fishing ops volleyball field hiking and biking ops - long trail a stunning bridge

If you want to surround yourself in nature without far travel visit this park. Fishing lake, hike and bike trails, lots of room to roam and explore bridges over water and shade and benches when you need them. Had a great day to wind down from weekly hustle and bustle.

Beautiful neighborhood park bordering the cities of Austin and Cedar Park. Plenty of open green space with picnic tables and trails for running, jogging, walking, and biking. The park is dog friendly, but no dog park. There is a big lake that is stocked with bass, catfish, and crappie. Fishing, paddle broading, and kayaking are allowed. Lots of parking spaces. Park entrance and parking are free. I am not sure if restrooms and water fountains are available on site.

Good times by the lake. We love this park.

We went for a hike there right after a big storm and the grounds were so green and vibrant. We mostly stuck to the Onion Creek Trail as it is paved; however, the storm brought in mud to a few places on the trail, so be prepared to maneuver or wear proper footwear if you go during rainy season. Many families line up to take pictures in front of the upper falls (outside the Smith visitor center), so go early if you'd like a picture free of other guests. We then went to the lower falls area where there is an expanse of limestone (I believe) to get to the falls. There's a very small beach and swimming hole area that many families were enjoying. It's important to note that dogs can't enter any of the water at this park. The park also had multiple designated fishing areas as well. For those seeking a bit more of a challenge, crossing the river takes more thought to avoid getting your feet wet. I've usually found there are 2-3 paths at the river crossing, being careful not to slip on any rocks. The homestead beyond the crossing can be observed and appreciated, but it's off-limits to help preserve what's left. The backcountry trails total about 6 miles and it's usually just the right length for me to get a solid hike in. There is very little elevation change, though there can be a lot of mosquitos during the warmer months. I didn't find any benches to rest at and there is no water source to refill water bottles. Given that McKinney Falls is within Austin's city limits makes this state park a gem. There is also a large day-use area near the campgrounds with about 100 picnic tables and charcoal grills the last time I counted a few years ago. Parking is plenty and the rangers are friendly. Definitely either get there early or make online reservations to reserve a time slot to enter as the park can fill up fast over weekends or holidays. Their gift shop also has a variety of items for sale, and you can get a park passport stamp there too!
