The house fire I was in happened nearly 15 years ago and I'm not sure if this station responded that night or the one off of Via Cinco de Mayo (station #23). Anyhow.. my Daughter and I baked and dropped off the goodies last summer for station #23 and so I want to make this a monthly thing and I want to incorporate surrounding stations. Yesterday morning we baked a million sugary sweets and dropped it off to station #23 and here after our luncheon in Campbell. I enjoy doing things for others especially since these guys are the ones responsible for me being alive today. I am forever grateful and want to teach the kids that it is a good quality to obtain.. to be generous to others. We'll be back next month! I'll do something savory this time.

My wallet was stolen at Pruneyard Plaza while I was working. I didn't even realize it was gone at…read morefirst, but as soon as I noticed, I immediately reported it to Campbell Police. I went out of my way to help, I mapped out where fraudulent transactions were happening, listed the amounts, and even contacted a gas station that has surveillance footage ready for police review. The thief racked up over $700 in purchases using my cards. Despite all of that, I can't get any follow up. Calls go unanswered, and the deputy assigned to my case hasn't responded to my emails, including when I asked for another evidence submission link so I could send in the footage. It's incredibly frustrating to put in this much effort and get no response. At this point, I accepted that nothing is going to be done anyway. I even have a photo of one of the people who used my wallet, but there has been zero movement or communication. End result, I am left dealing with a stolen wallet that had my cards, cash, and driver's license. Not exactly a great experience.

I think what really needed to improve in this place is the cleanliness. The toilets were not super clean and the interior looked scary. This place could use some more investment in the exterior and interior design because it honestly looks like a prison cell from the outside. Parking was easy to find and if there is none, there's also street parking.

Santa Clara County has some of the worse emergency rooms in the state. If you are not getting a…read morecovid vaccine then you are pretty much screwed because you will have to wait a long time for care at the ER if you are going to Valley Medical. If you are going to other hospitals then you are pretty much prone to not getting the right treatment for whatever ailment you have if you are on medi-cal or low income. If you are in need of mental health services, good luck finding a good therapist because they do nothing. ERs are so bad in SCC because there is a lack of regulation and agency. If you go to the ERs with little to no wait time, the doctors there are not as experienced as the ones at Valley Medical. This county is doing nothing to make sure people get the proper care they need. Sure the public health leader is good but she puts very little care on the experience of doctors and long wait times at Valley Medical. If you are living in this county, I recommend you move or remain with Kaiser if you can

A couple of months ago, I was dumb enough not to remember carrying my keys with me when throwing…read moretrash outside of the house. The wind closed the door behind me and it was locked. I freaked out because my baby was inside the house alone; I ran to my neighbor and asked to use their phone to call my husband but wasn't able to reach him. A few minutes later, I decided to call 911; the operator asked me to wait outside and help is on the way. I kept talking to my baby through the door; I was in tears hoping nothing bad would happen. I waited for about 5min (might be shorter, but it seemed longer when I was anxious), the Santa Clara Fire Department came. They were all very friendly and patience; they calmly asked for detail information about my house and my baby. They tried to find a way in without breaking my doors; they quickly figured out a way to get into the house through a window. As soon as they opened the door for me, I ran to see my baby. Luckily she was safe, enjoying some videos in the high chair. The Fire Fighters didn't just leave right away, instead, they made sure to place the window net back on correctly, said hello to my baby and my dog, as well as checking the smoke protectors at my house. Embarrassingly, all of my smoke protectors were out of batteries; they offered to install new ones but refused to let me pay for them. They also played with my baby and my dog while waiting for the protectors to be installed. Seriously, I haven't seen a group of genuinely nice people in a long while. While I felt very bad for them to come for my stupid mistake, I was very thankful that they were able to rescue us in such a short notice. Thank you Santa Clara Fire Department! You guys are awesome.

The reasons I picked this particular station because: these were the same heroes that responded to the house-fire I was in back in 1998, this location is w/in a 10 minute walk from my current place of residency, and I wanted my Daughter to get introduced to the local community. A structure/sign and the American flag is a symbolic way to commemorate this station.. these men and women that put their lives at risk to save local citizens. I was proud when I took a picture of my Daughter holding the little care package we had put together in front of the structure. Since 1998, over 10 years later I was ready to meet the people that saved me when I was 16. Overcoming the physical part was not easy but the part that had me struggling day to day or when I am feeling down is my emotional state, my mental state.. trying to understand what really happened and why. I eventually did this.. I forgive and I forgot. That is my attitude and although I suffered.. I learned to move on. I am a single Mother and since my Daughter is on her summer break, I decided to take this opportunity to expose her to the community.. not just this fire station but I want to get her to visit the police station, the senior community, the hospital, the humane society.. all so she can accept that like her Mother.. although I have apparent physical features, I am still worth being treated normally like everybody else. Sadly- I don't get treated fairly most of the time. Anyway. When we rang the door, I noticed a safe surrender sign and picture which means you can surrender your infant at this station w/o any penalties or questions. Please- I cannot stand to read stories on the news about mothers killing their newborns. There is a way, people. If there is a will, there is definitely a way; a saying very old yet holds the most truth. We were greeted by a friendly fireman whom seemed surprised and glad we stopped by for a visit and to give them some dessert. They were having lunch and I felt bad for interrupting. The fireman gave my Daughter 2 stickers and took us on a brief tour and showed us the fire truck. The garage was lifted and there was this massive red vehicle before me that is responsible of putting out fires and first to respond to medical emergencies.. this very vehicle driven and occupied by these firefighters deserved to be awed at. My Daughter and I took a seat in the front seat and took pictures.. Yay! After we got down, we talked a bit about the house-fire I was in and the organization I can volunteer at if I wanted to.. a camp for burn victims and it's run by other firefighters from different cities here.. very cool. These guys truly enjoy what they do. They all stopped eating just to show my Daughter and I around and listened intently when I told them my story.. I was very touched. The firemen said we can come by to visit anytime, no treats needed and that this is our fire station and our fire truck.. they just help take care of it, that's all. Heroes. I would not be here today if it weren't for them.

He was sooo excited, shouting "fire truck!" over and over. The truck stopped right in front of us, and he got to see it up close--it was his first time ever seeing one in real life! The firemen hopped off, greeted him warmly, and gave him a little fire hat and a sticker. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made his whole day (and mine too, honestly). This was the most heartwarming first encounter he could've had with real-life heroes. Thank you, Milpitas Fire Department, for creating such a special moment for my little guy!
