Plus you get parking right up next to the train car. The parlor car offered spacious, comfortable seating, VIP time with Santa Claus, a hot adult beverage, or nonalcoholic version, bottled water, snacks, Christmas cookies, and a great narrative of the ride. You're also allowed to walk the length of the train, but you need to have a wristband so you can get back into the parlor car area. Be prepared for lots of traffic as you drive to the train station from other parts of the Bay Area. Traffic is bad during the winter if not always. The train leaves right on time so you do not want to be late. Also, the railroad provides very detailed and helpful instructions about how to get to the depot and how to navigate the parking and other systems. They have outside train cars and inside train cars so you can choose what type of seat you want. This is definitely been worth the money and should become a holiday.

They let you bring food and drinks on as long as you clean up after yourself. The ride was relaxed, the train had different festive decorations per car, the kids had a blast and Santa was on the train and so friendly! 10/10 would ride again!

Enjoy the Covered Bridge, General Store, Train Depot, Bret Harte Hall and more. I've been here more than a few times in the past decade including for one of my closest friends wedding. Touring the grounds on foot is pretty amazing but nothing beats that iconic steam engine train ride. And having an event here is something that will stay with you forever in my honest opinion. The picnic grounds can hold anywhere from 25 to 2,500 people for groups and parties. Chuckwagon Barbecue has kid friendly and veggie friendly options, and outside food and catering is also very welcome. Dogs ARE allowed. The weather was perfect I was completely comfortable in jeans and a T-shirt, with a sweater being optional. It's about a 10-minute walk from the parking lot to where the lights begin. My group and I were running late for our time slot, but they were super accommodating and let us go with the group right after ours, which I really appreciated. The whole atmosphere was very easygoing and welcoming. The process is simple: reserve your time online, check in and get stamped, then walk through the experience at your own pace. The entire night walk was whimsical and added a little bit of novelty and magic to life. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

I had the absolute best time, met some really great people, drank some outstanding wine, and enjoyed every single store I went into that participated in the event. The event was very well done, super organized, and there was a ton of selection, which was very impressive. Only two places had something other than wine, that being three different kinds of beer then another place had two different kinds of cider. And yes, I tried all the beer, all the cider and as much wine as I could get my hands on! They had so many vendors that it was literally impossible to make it to all of them in the time frame given for the event. I found it really creative and super helpful that they pinned an orange balloon outside of every single art gallery or store that was participating in the event so we could determine which place to go next by simply by standing on the street. I also loved the commemorative stemless wine glass they gave out with each ticket purchase. The weather was beautiful, the wines were delicious (oh! And some stores even had snacks for us to enjoy, which was a very thoughtful touch). What a fantastic way to spend a Saturday! I absolutely loved it and will be back next year for sure :) 5 Stars ALL THE WAY.
