Parking is easy and free on a Sunday, especially in downtown San Jose, so best time for you to explore without worry of a ticket or getting your car towed. The moment you walk in you'll be welcomed by adorable merchandise by a local seller- Thousand Skies- by her cute prints, stuffed plushies, and keychains. There's many more independent artists deeper within that were selling items from washi tapes, keychains, tote bags, and stickers. Super clean store with natural lighting that highlights the goods inside. During this time until July 9th, 2023, there's a special anime exhibit featuring original artwork based on SpyxFamily and Chainsawman!! I had to go, awesome exposure for local artists that love anime. There was an entire wall dedicated to their crafts from paintings, mugs, and more! In that room, there were other artists that delivered on Filipino culture with cute enamel pins and Kpop with BTS themed prints. Versatile room that highlighted so many fandoms and identities. Loved the experience so much that I couldn't go empty handed and bought two prints from the special anime exhibit! Definitely come visit! :)

With offices in Fremont, it has a huge coverage area from San Leandro to Milpitas. It seems to lack frontpage news stories, but has everything else. Content such as city events, obits, police and fire reports, horoscope, school sports, and classified ads. The paper seems to fit the gaps that those other "cookie cutter" newspapers don't cover. The Tri City Voice gets residents interested in their community, and generates involvement. A valuable asset to the Eastbay.

The current version of the mag provides up to date reporting/reviews on new scooters and products. You can also find technical reports on how to fix and repair your scooter. The vintage scooter owner is also served with a variety of articles catering to their interests. Their annual buyer's guide issue is very helpful for those looking to buy a new scooter. Sometimes the editing slips, but as the major US borne scooter publication, Scoot's staff publishes a labor of love that scooterists should support. You'll often find Josh, April, or Mike hawking their product at local rallies. If you love scooters then Scoot should be your magazine.

Yesterday, I was happy to see they were open again, so I bought a purse for my young teen daughter, who loved most of the items in the shop, as did I. Everything they sell, apart from the paintings covering the walls, is hand crafted in Mexico, and they offer unusual, beautiful jewelry, purses, tote bags, clothing, and other items. (The colorful, compelling paintings are by the owner's mother and grandmother--pretty cool!) The boutique is tiny, wedged between the Sapore Messo Italian food store and the Salon Du Monde beauty salon on Niles Blvd. The young woman who owns the shop is very friendly, and you can truly find unique items for gifts, etc. I would have spent a lot longer checking out the items on offer, but my young sons were waiting outside and wanted to get home, so I had to cut our visit short. Incidentally, if you are worried about the virus, the employees when I shopped were wearing masks, and they had the door wide open to allow fresh air in. Since huge corporations like Target and Costco have been allowed to remain open this entire time, I am delighted that some smaller businesses in addition to restaurants are finally being allowed the same opportunity. It didn't look anything like the photo, more like dish soap on top, and the square thing on top was frozen solid (which I assume was the dalgona?). The drink itself was really watered down and didn't taste like coffee at all. Honestly, the pictures were way more appealing than the actual experience.

I'm in love with this venue for a multitude of reasons. First, let's give respect where respect is…read moredue: this is not just a venue, this is an intentional community of artists. And not just musicians, but there are local artists items for sale in the front shop; there is a podcast growing out of this location; and there is lots of mentoring, growth, inspiration, and the what every artist looks for, great after hour hangs with like minded folx. I'm a fan of the space because the acoustics are always just right, and the lighting is vibrantly cozy. There is no bad seat in the house, and I can always find a place to slink into the back drop of events, even though it's hard to show up here and not engage in some friendly conversation with the regulars. It's the way my artist friends rave about this place that also makes me recommend it to anyone looking for a new venue to hear local music, or tell visiting artists about it. I feel confident that you are going to watch a quality show, have a good time, drink some REALLY good beer, and if you like tater tots, order The King Tut tots (they always hit for me). But in all seriousness, this is a venue that is more than just an establishment. So I'm curious if it also serves as a meeting place for community groups. I'd love to see this place used to really bring all walks of life together, not just those who are musically inclined, artistic, or a consumer of the two. Because there is something magical about the history behind SLG Art Boutiki & Gallery's inception, and the walls are full of tales that need to be told to keep its story alive in San Jose.
