The "Tri City Voice" is a free community newspaper that covers the South Eastbay. It's available at various locations, but I usually grab a copy or read it at Peking Garden in San Lorenzo. With offices in Fremont, it has a huge coverage area from San Leandro to Milpitas. It seems to lack frontpage news stories, but has everything else. Content such as city events, obits, police and fire reports, horoscope, school sports, and classified ads. The paper seems to fit the gaps that those other "cookie cutter" newspapers don't cover. The Tri City Voice gets residents interested in their community, and generates involvement. A valuable asset to the Eastbay. read more

I found this community paper a couple of months ago and have been picking it up every week since then. It highlights local people and events. It has a kid's section and even a Sudoku puzzle. A variety of articles on health, cooking and gardening. This paper even has color photos. Very appreciative of the newspaper staff and the quality product they put out on a weekly basis. read more

Mixed bag at the local fishwrap. On the one hand I'm pleased we have at least some institution trying to bring together the suburban sprawl that is Fremont, Union City, Hayward. The paper offers hyper-local listings, entertainment coverage, some high school sports, real estate and the always popular police blotters. Where it drops the ball is in news coverage. I don't think it has any staff reporters or experienced news gatherers. It seems to rely on press releases from city government entities rather than on independent news evaluation and gathering. There is no coverage with a critical or discerning eye. The area has tons of issues and problems: growth, housing, business development, diversity, etc. It seems like it's a stenographer rather than a news outlet. I get that: Paying for real journalism is expensive, time consuming, etc. I would like to know what really goes on in local police departments, city governments, etc. Typically, the front page just does softball arts articles or "festival coverage." I want the paper to be more newsy. It could serve the community better. read more

Tri City Voice is an asset to the community! Moreover, even as major publications struggle, I think this publication is ECONOMICALLY VIABLE since it offers an effective way to advertise (to develop businesses) among the population, well in excess of 300,00, of the Tri Cities. In turn, the community benefits from all those successful businesses. Tri City Voice has some news items, interesting advertisements, scheduled events (although some are past by the time the newspaper is seen), and the ever important "crime report" (Fremont Police Log). I am impressed by the editorial leadership from William Marshak, the publisher! He strikes me as a force improving the community at the same time as he develops his business! Home delivery is offered for a reasonable fee but the publication gains advertising reach with various distribution points which it seems to me are much more worth the cost insofar as increasing the reach of the advertising which can pay the bills. On July 30, I installed their TCV app to the smartphone. You can get the app from Google Play or from Apple Store. It did not have a fee. I was able to download a pdf copy of the entire newpaper--probably sooner so that I would not miss the announced events--and back issues also. There are other valuable features in the app, including a listing of the distribution points. I would rather download from a website. Maybe I will find out that is possible instead. read more

EARGO hearing aid business... San Jose...I'm 94 years old. I ordered one set of hearing aids $2650 on 13 Oct. They immediately charged me $2650 AND $2500 to my USBankMasterCharge card. I requested credit for the $2500 overcharge and they refuse to issue this credit and it's already 2 November. They admit error but won't remedy it. Received $2650 hearing aids on 15 Oct. Did not fit. Couldn't force them into my ears. Returned hearing aids and have not received $2650 credit yet for them. When I telephone for help I get a SCAM notice on my phone. When I write I get an email Case #00466952, a different one for each time I email them for help. Their site has NO address for the EARGO company. Only a foreign address: TMVF Global, Imperial Works, Block C, Perren Street, London NW5 3EDMVF Global, Imperial Works, Block C, Perren Street, London NW5 3ED I discovered their San Jose address in Wikipedia. If anyone can help me by contacting this business and demanding that they issue me credit for the error charge and the returned item charge I'd be so grateful. To compound the situation, when I contacted USBankMastercard to have them stop payment to EARGO, instead, they CREDITED my account with a LOAN of $5150, thus charging ME interest and loan costs, under the guise of contacting EARGO and being the middleman in the transaction. Talk about scamming by a business and a bank. Outrageous. read more

This publication stays true to its roots and delivers local news. Run by an amazing group of people who want to share news, celebrate the area, and provide a good product. I see their newspaper every where I go. While most local newspapers have folded or reduced their quality, Tri City Voice remains strong! read more

This newspaper gives you a feel for what's going on in the Tri City Area of Fremont, Newark and Union City as well as surrounding cites. Not hard to find either, it's in almost every fast food restaurant, book store, free stand or area public library. ... and it's FREE ! read more

I enjoy the diversity of thought published in this local paper. And, I always enjoy reading William Marshak's opinions: his prose have a beautiful rhythm, and he captures political nuances that most reporters overlook. "The devil is in the details." Thank you, Mr. Marshak, for making your paper convenient to read; I prefer print version. My only recommendation is a DONATE button on your website, or a way to subscribe to an electronic version for the sake of contributing to a great resource. However, I will always prefer newsprint. read more
