Checked in a Monday-Thursday. For NFL pre-season game. The Staff was super nice and accommodating. I adored the Housekeeping Staff who went above and beyond on the seventh floor. My room was Super clean. The black lamps over the bed were a little dusty, but we are downtown. No bad smells coming from the drains and the water pressure was OK. I love the scent of the shower gel even though I brought my own I did end up using the shower jail provided. I was disappointed in the freshness of the food that was served in the M club. I tried the deli meats, the cold sandwich, the roast beef, and the beef and potatoes. Perhaps leftovers from other events. Or leftovers from the restaurant. The beverages and snacks were fine. I know that they are trying to keep prices down, but I think that the people that earned the rank to enter the M club deserve better than stale leftovers. However, the facility was very clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating, and I would stay there again. read more

Yet another fabulous stay here -we stay here each year for the San Jose Summer Fest. Jasmine was quite helpful with ensuring we had the room we requested. Kyle (service desk) was friendly & efficient and we remembered him from last year. The valet service runs smoothly. Our room is comfortable and we enjoyed our view of the festival outside. On a respite from the festival we had fun hanging at the pool- every year we meet other cool jazz lovers. My only complaint was the cost of a 4 ounce drink (filled with ice) cost $24 (at hotel bar). read more

No issues. I was a happy camper. Love that it was in the heart of Downtown San Jose making it close to all major attractions. Everything I wanted to go to was less than 10 minutes away which was a plus for me. I did not use many extra amenities but I did use a meeting room and they were very helpful when we needed extra plug ins and other needs throughout the day. The room was nice. The shower was hot. Traveling and finding a hotel that has all the capabilities to work remotely takes precedence in booking. We all know the repertoire of Marriot so my expectations have all been met. The location is perfect. Within walking distance to restaurants, museums, and other activities. I was upgraded to a room with a fantastic view of the park and the room was clean. The heater/air conditioner worked perfectly especially since I often tend to run cold and constantly toggle the temperature throughout the day. The bathroom was fully functional (as expected) and clean. The Marriott Elite Lounge was great. Selection of food was great with pluses such as wine, beqr, and other drinks. It was well kept and often restocked. A lot of other patrons were very respectable and bussed their own tables so it was easy to find a table. Parking was valet. I do have a EV car and requested to have it charged however once I received my vehicle back it was apparent that the car was not charged. I'm not holding this against valet as I know that there maybe a queue. Overall, my stay was perfect. read more

My family and I stayed here on Labor Day weekend. It is located in downtown San Jose next to Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park and attached to the San Jose Convention Center. We chose this hotel due to the location as it is near many restaurants and short walking/driving distance of many local attractions. Check in was very simple and employees were very friendly. Being a Marriott Platinum Member, we were offered a free upgrade to a Junior Suite and M Club Lounge access (see picture for hours). Room 1600 (3/5 stars due to lack of cleanliness): Corner room Junior Suite overlooking Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park and The IMAX Dome Theater as well as The Westin Hotel across the street. The room and bathroom were both very spacious and overall looked clean. What we did end up finding out is that the room was not fully cleaned properly as there were left over items from the previous people who stayed in the room, trash under the couch pullout bed and boogers/snot on the windowsill (see pictures). Lobby (5/5 stars): Spacious with lots of space so it does not feel crowded when there are more people in the hotel. There is a nice bar with a pool table and Pong video game that are free to play. The M Club Lounge is also accessed through the first floor lobby area. M Club Lounge (5/5 stars): lots of room for dining with couches to lounge in. The staff were very friendly and enjoyed talking to the patrons. They serve breakfast daily, hors d'oeuvres and dessert Sunday-Thursday (see picture for hours). Fitness Center/Pool (4/5 stars): the fitness center had all the essentials and a good amount of cardio equipment. There are towels and water dispenser with water cups available. There are restrooms for use as well. The pool is next to the fitness center, but we felt it was too cold to swim. I think the pool is heated, but I did not check to see if it was. My son and I enjoyed working out in the fitness center. Parking (4/5 stars): Valet only parking which is the reason for 1 star off. The staff seemed to be keeping up with the traffic, but it didn't seem that busy that weekend. Pro Tip: Parking is valet ($53-$65 per day) only here, but you can self park in the Convention Center Parking Lot overnight for a little cheaper. Only thing is that at the Convention Center Lot, there is no free in/out privileges. Overall we had a great experience here. We enjoyed the staff and the M Club Lounge had good food and drink selections. The downside was the essentially not fully cleaned room. Upon check out, I did inform the front desk that the room was not fully cleaned when we arrived and showed pictures, the manager did seem concerned and offered to credit me 5,000 points and assured me that they will look into why the room was not fully cleaned. If I plan on staying in San Jose again, I would come back to this hotel. read more

It's a great property, staff is so nice and accommodating upon arrival. Seems to be a hub for flight attendants. Saw a line of them when we first arrived. When we first checked in they advised that the electricity would be off between 1-3 am. Well, it was after 1am, and it didn't turn back on till 4:45am. Thankful our meeting wasn't starting till 830, however, when we went down to grab coffee, their POS terminal wasn't working, and couldn't take our credit card, and we had to walk to Starbucks (only 5min walk) Also, their "bar" area wasn't open when we came in till 5pm, Monday night, so we ended up leaving early to head to an offsite restaurant for drinks. Valet parking is recommended ($60/day) Again, it's a great property, and had the glitches above not occurred, I'd gladly give it a 5 stars for location convenience, cleanliness, and updated atmosphere. The hotel itself is very nice. The rooms are clean, modern rooms and a convenient location near San Jose Airport. However, it would be great if San Jose Marriott recognized its loyal Bonvoy members a bit more. The M Club breakfast is unfortunately pretty mediocre, especially for Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador members who are used to better offerings at other Marriott properties. It would be nice if the hotel offered a proper complimentary breakfast in the restaurant instead of the limited selection in the lounge. Small gestures like that really go a long way in making loyal guests feel valued. read more

Came for work. Upon arrival, they put me in an ADA room. I had paid for a king room, with breakfast. They had to move me to a new room which was then a double room. The conjoining room lock didn't lock. The breakfast coupons didn't arrive until a day after check in, so I paid for breakfast the first morning. If food is closed, there is absolutely nothing nearby. The property is nice, the people are nice and provide good service. Rooms are quiet and you don't get the annoying elements like a loud refrigerator, bright alarm clock when lights are off, things like that. I can sometimes get overly critical of those things being an Advertising Manager at a 4-diamond casino resort a little farther north but the check-in, general service, valet, and room I'll say in my opinion, was almost perfect. However, as I sit here in the lobby trying to do work, they've lost stars. Here's the "brief" story that just occured. I had to delete and rewrite as it happened. At 5:30am the mess from last night's traffic is still here on the lobby tables. I asked the front desk clerk if they have towels and spray, I'll clean it, no prob. She said there's napkins by the coffee, I started to get them and ask for spray, but since they don't have that up front they recommended I sit in the empty/closed restaurant. I asked if I was allowed there since it's closed... "of course sir sit anywhere you like". I set up there, laptop, earbuds, textbook to get schoolwork done. Someone came to take the dishes off the original messy tables in time for the morning rush, just after 6am. She made her way to the restaurant and told me she's sorry, but I had to leave so she can get the tables ready for service. I asked if she could talk to the front desk as they had me sit here. She didn't, just apologized and said she has to flip the location. Luckily, she took the dishes off my originally planned location already. But nothing was wiped clean. Food bits still on the tables. Went back to the front desk where there's now another employee and asked for someone to spray. She was understandably busy and had to help a guest who walked up, so I asked the lady who kicked me out of the restaurant. She came back to spray and fully clean the tables I'm at now. I left the location I was at the first time and came back to the now clean lobby tables. The restaurant location was actually more comfortable for me. Oh well. I'm still here and I'll finish out the next hour or two doing my work. read more

The rooms seemed nice sized, but I have to say that I would avoid this spot because it seems to be the place for Sharks fans to stay and enjoy the game. That means that parking around them, even underground, is hard. We did get up to her room, but the elevators were busy. I'm surprised that they got a spot at the last minute. They have a restaurant that I didn't go into. It seemed cold and unappealing. There are plenty of places to eat in the area and with Insta, Door Dash and other services, you don't have to be so limited. read more

I had no help unloading my bags. No help bringing them to the room. Extremely disappointed in the service. Also the room's air conditioner would randomly shut off in the middle of the night. Beautiful pool deck with a nice clean outdoor pool and a jacuzzi. Spacious and nice decor with a Starbucks in the lobby. It's in a nice part of downtown if you like walking around. Excellent place to stay! Staff were friendly and accommodating. We arrived at 10am and were let into our room immediately. Room was super clean (and ya'll know how picky I am!) There were plenty of tv options. View was great! Room was equipped with fridge, iron, ironing board, blow dryer, bar soap, body wash, shampoo, charging plugs, and free cucumber water or coffee in the lobby. We needed extra coffee and staff let me raid the cart and take as much as I needed. Towels were large and thick. Room was serviced midday. So why not 5 stars? Room was too small for 2 beds. We both ran into the corner of the first bed which (thank goodness was rounded.) There was only 1 chair. Drinks and Food were priced really high, ie:17$ for toast. I am beyond frustrated with the lack of professional courtesy and management oversight at the San Jose Marriott. During a conference at the adjacent convention center in mid-January, my jacket was found and turned in to the hotel. While I was initially relieved, getting it back has been an absolute nightmare. Since the third week of January, I have called the Lost and Found department once a week to coordinate a pickup. Not once have I received a return phone call. I have left multiple messages, and today, I even left a message specifically for the manager, still nothing. It is ridiculous that a high-tier hotel chain cannot manage a simple callback or a basic logistics request over the span of a month. This experience has been so damn annoying that I am planning to cancel my Marriott credit card; if this is the level of "service" and accountability I can expect, I'd rather take my business elsewhere. To Management: Please check your messages and actually return a call. Hold your other departments to this standard as well. read more

This is THE hotel to get for Fanime as I've stayed here multiple times before and really enjoy the fact that it's connected to the con center floor, as well as very close to the gathering area outside where all the cosplayers hang out and take their photos. Checking in and checking out is pretty easy and hassle free and I did get my deposit back relatively quickly after the event. The rooms are decently spacious and there is no year where our room hasn't gotten A+ room and customer services, especially with cleaning the trash both in the room and left outside, as well as providing new towels, toilet paper, etc. Guest services was also very patient and understanding with us, since we did have a complaint and incident with a pet that we brought with us, but instead of charging us straight up, they let us know what alternatives and options we had and we were let off with a gentle warning. Valet was helpful too, despite not many of the staff being able to drive manual. I think there was some struggle on their side as we had to take the car to the mechanic afterwards to check the shift or gear (unsure what it is myself but I know that several people tried to drive the car, stalled, and many staff had to swap out with one another to drive our car to the valet parking/bring our car back up). Regardless, calling from the room and heading out 15 minutes later, the car was usually already ready for us. Despite being pretty pricy, the little gift shop and Starbucks on the lobby floor is very convenient. Random note: there's a water bottle refill station on the second floor attached to the con center that has flavored water! read more

Stayed here a few times the rooms were clean but very small. The front desk staff was nice as for my friends who work here at the Security team seems pretty aggressive when he started working there. The bar area staff is very minimal even though there is no one around the bar. Staff was very slow. The location was great and check in was easy. The view from the 25th floor was great. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. There was only a shower, and the removable shower head was broken so I was left with just the rain shower head. A bit inconvenient if you're not planning on washing your hair. I am not a fan of the heady smelling soaps and shampoos that hotels are going for these days. Patchouli is really an acquired taste. I prefer clea. Soapy smelling cleansers. It seemed like I was at a Travel lodge, two towels for three people, breakfast had eggs made with powder, butter cubes set in water one had black mold all over it. The breakfast is better at the Motel 6, as cheap as they could make it. The rooms are fair, not up to Marriott quality. Shower slippery with no matt. They have their staff doing the best they can, but you must plan ahead of time and be ready to wait for your car to be parked and/or retrieved from their lot. Also, don't forget any items because it is a walk to the car. Someone in our group unfortunately had a toilet leak in the bathroom. Visited for a night recently to attend a concert. Overall a good experience and I recommend staying here if the location is good for your plans. Note it is about a 20 min walk to the SAP Center through a lively downtown, so for me next time I might choose a hotel a little closer to the venue. - Arrival was ok, but a huge line of cars was waiting for the valet around 4:30PM on a Saturday. We diverted to the adjacent public garage and self parked without a wait. It's the same garage and there are signs to find the hotel entrance. - Room was ready, but the small lobby seemed a madhouse due to all of the coming and going. - Room smelled strongly of cigarettes, it was awful. Called the front desk twice to see about moving but no answer. Later after our show we stopped by the desk and they took care of us immediately. We were happy in the end with that situation, but the lack of available help made me a little uneasy. - Onsite service includes a cafe with Starbucks drinks (but it's not a part of the chain) and pastries from a local bakery. read more

Average stay at a typical downtown convention center property where the main clientele is business. Rooms were renovated recently and they are nice. Was able to check in early. Service however did not feel warm as no staff smiled or interacted in a way that felt like hospitality. My Bonvoy app showed that I had M Club Access attached to my room on the 22nd floor. Thinking it might be a mistake or an upgrade, I called the front desk. Desk said I didn't, but if I could bring my phone to the front desk and "prove it", they would honor it. Went to the desk on the way out for dinner and inquired. The only response I got was, "you don't have it." Did not even check my phone. Small valet issues. Upon parking my car, they left my car unlocked where my car app prompted me to lock it. At check out, there was a long wait time (after being told 5 minutes) due to the team not being able to find my key. When they did, the car was parked on the sidewalk with the attendant saying, "this yours", giving me the key without confirming the tag and then walking away. With other Marriott properties in the immediate area, we'll stay elsewhere next time or back to the Hilton where we usually stay. read more

Got a higher rating because the staff was very friendly!! My experience here was not a good one. There were six elevators but only two appeared to be working. I was there for a work conference. There was an electrical fire and we had to evacuate the building. I was on the 12th floor and it smelled like burnt rubber. The people on floors 20 and above didn't even know something was going on because the alarm didn't go off for them. Super concerning!!! I was told if they don't fix the issue where the electrical box is located it could happen again. We had to find another hotel to stay in because the issue wasn't resolved. Extremely disappointed since this did not hold up to the standard of a Marriott. Not a relaxing trip to say the least. read more

I would avoid using the hotels valet. Nearly $55 a night and they had the guts to go through my center console, door pockets and glove box. They also stole a small travel sized bottle cologne I leave in my center console. So far nobody from their management team has attempted to make things right about this. read more

I was there this past weekend for an event and had a blast. As far as room wise. It was nice. However, there were green stains on my bed sheets which I wasn't happy about. Slept without it at the end of the night which was a bummer. I wish I had an even better stay being kept warm under the blankets. Luckily the bed was at least comfortable. read more

I didn't even STAY here and I'm glad I didn't because their customer service is abysmal and an absolute nightmare. I had a prepaid reservation made on the 16th and cancelled before non refundable deadline the 17th. For some reason they charged me double, with one transaction that went through and another pending. I finally got my refund but not without contacting every customer service agent under the freaking sun. I thought everything was done at this point. However I have been charged ONCE AGAIN from San Jose Marriott. Who the hell authorized the charge considering it is cancelled and refund was completed? Contacting front desk to get to a manager was unbelievably difficult and when I finally got to one, they were unable to help me anyways. I'm told I must wait until Monday when their accounting department is in. So I'm just supposed to... go through this entire process again? Have you guys take my money and I have to wait days to get a refund? I expect more from a prestigious brand of hotels, this location needs to get it together. read more

I loved the interior design and my room. My bed was comfortable. The tub was big. I wouldn't say I liked the parking cost. $49 a day. We were promised that our electric car would be charged. Well, our car was not hooked up correctly. Instead of going straight home after two long days, we had to stop and wait for the vehicle to charge. The food served at the conference was horrid. I go to many conferences, and I would not make this statement lightly. The chicken was rubbery and slightly bitter. Frozen vegetables locked any flavor. I had an upset stomach and a bout of diarrhea. Stayed here for work because it's located right next to the convention center with access on the main floor. Lobby is small with only a few check in counter tops...took me awhile to check in and out. But they do hand out bottles of water as you wait. Room was nice, average view from the window. Bathroom was spacious, bed was comfy. The fan above the shower was running when I arrived in my room, even when the switches were off. I called down to the front desk and they sent someone up to fix it. They tried to fix it for 4 days (according to the front desk no other room was available for me to switch) They said they would give me hotel points for my inconvenience....still waiting on those. Had breakfast at the onsite restaurant everyday, buffet was nice. Lot's of choices and they make eggs to order. French toast was really good, I recommend. Buffet is $24 each. The Tanq Bar was a positive experience with it's U shaped bar and nice staff serving up different cocktails. There is a corner market just off from the lobby, great place to grab snacks and cold drinks for your room. Large cold beer selection i enjoyed. read more
