I signed up for classes at San Juan Driving School and was blessed to meet Alex. I had never been behind the wheel before and felt very nervous and apprehensive about driving. Alex was beyond patient and made me feel very much at ease, like I could conquer anything with practice and a positive outlook. Although I didn't pass my road test on my first try, I don't blame Alex as he prepared me to the fullest. I was able to control my nerves the second time around and owe it to Alex for being a superb teacher. The staff at San Juan is also very friendly and helpful. This school helped me pass my road test in the first try! As soon as you walk in the door you receive the assistance you need and clearance regarding any confusions you may have. I payed for the a package that included 3 driving lessons. Stephanie my driving teacher, pointed out everything I needed to improve in, what I forget to do, and how Im going to be graded. I got my license after about three or four classes. Had two instructors. The first one I found out knew one of my friends she was amazing. Had things see sent me to help me remember. And the second one was really good with pointing out what points may be deducted based on things I was doing. They provided the car for the test. And it lowkey felt like a little community when I walked in. Everyone was friendly. Had a family issue happen and could complete every course when I wanted and the guy there did something really nice for me it meant a lot. I'd suggest this place highly. And I'm probably going to go back for one class for highways just to be fully comfortable. And I only made that decision because I know it's going to be good customer service. 1. If your not driving outside of the classes i wouldn't recommend this place . If not and you still continue with this location pick the biggest package you can afford. 2. They didn't tell me that there was a waitlist for the road test until I was already 7 classes into my 10 class package. So i started my classes in may and didn't take my test until June. I had to tell them i didn't want my classes far apart for them to put the remaining classes leading up to my test. They were going to proceed with my class package even though that meant i would finish them in early may then come back and take the road test with them early June. They said its cause of covid but i knew other place that scheduled your road test when you paid for your package . To avoid the time gap between classes and road test 3. The office wasn't reliable. I had to always call them; and they would always tell me to call back later because they were too busy or the person there at the time couldn't answer my question. They would promise a callback sometimes and not call back. Or said they left a voicemail when they didn't. 4. They don't keep accurate track of your classes. So WRITE THEM DOWN. Or u will lose money. If i rescheduled with my instructor and did not report it to the office they would mark it down that i had completed that class. 5. The communication between instructors isn't great. THEY SWITCHED ME BETWEEN FOUR INSTRUCTORS. Which means four different cars each time and four different techniques. On my 9th lesson they told me to switch from the car i was sitting in; ready to drive, into a Nissan. they said it was because I would drive that car the day of my road test. I did not drive the Nissan to my road test by the way. 6. They carpool you with a group to the test. (Never mentioned it would be carpool) So expect to wait for other people to finish to go home. I went with a group of 4 not including the instructor who drove us. We all wore our mask in the vehicle. None of the four of us passed either. If you go here. I recommend Andres . I did come to San Juan with prior driving experience however Oscar and Henry help me bring out the best of me when it comes to driving. Got the 20 lesson jammy, plus a few extra lessons (no one talked me into that, I just wanted to make sure I was confident). The instructors that I worked with are amazing, especially Karen. She takes the time to help you visualize the big picture and teaches you little tricks to help you remember what to do or improve. For example, she has formulas for parking and the broken U-turn that I still utilize after having passed the road test. If you want to know what those tricks are, take classes with her ;) Aside from the amazing instructors, the owner, Raquel, is a force to be reckoned with. She not only makes sure everything is done professionally and by the book, she is willing to fight for her students should they be wronged in any way by the inspectors. I've tried multiple instructors with multiple driving schools in this area, and she is by far the best. Every driving instructor knows how to drive, but Jhoselyn knows how to TEACH driving. That's the difference. She's patient, clear, and adaptable to the individual needs of students. I was lacking confidence in parallel parking and she tried every method with me until we found the right one. The office staff itself is a little disorganized and I found it weird that they wouldn't print my schedule or road test confirmation for me, but I passed my road test and that's all I care about. Such a great experience! Booked 10 lessons plus the test with these guys (car for the test included). It was so easy to book/re-arrange if needed and they were always so responsive via phone if I had any questions. All my classes were with Jocelyn - she is a fantastic instructor, very informative and detailed when teaching. Would definitely recommend her! A little bit about the classes: You drive around the neighborhood/area for 45mins each class, parallel parking, U-turning, going through different stop signs in both quiet and busy areas. I felt very well prepared for the road test thanks to my instructor Oskar. I passed today at the first try with ease. I had Jhoselyn for one class and she was fantastic with her techniques and overall. I can honestly recommend this school; I was solidly prepared. However the 5 h class was a total waste of time and that's too bad since this time could have been used in a useful way e.g. going over the evaluation sheet that the examiner fills out on the road test. Instead the instructor took close to an hour asking everybody around what could be possible sources of distractions inside the car.... He was clearly trying to kill time. read more

I strongly recommend this school. All the instructors are professionals, but Karen is amazing! Karen's teaching method is very useful, with lots of tips that make you succeed in the driving test. Raquel, the owner, provides you with good cars to practice. I chose my schedule according to my activities and they always started the classes on time. I loved this school! Affordable (I got the 10 class package), professional and very accommodating, they worked with my schedule and negotiated convenient pick up/drop off locations. The owner I believe her name is Raquel, is just wonderful! Super nice, professional, her kids are adorable and her nephew is one of the instructors and he's a very smart and personable young man. I strongly recommend this driving school if you want to pass your road test. My instructor was KAREN and when I say she's a great instructor I mean every word. I purchased a 5 lesson+ road test + 5hr class package. When I went for my first class I was a nervous wreck but with KAREN'S guidance and tutelage, I was able to calmly gain confidence behind the wheel. Starting on a positive note - my instructor Oscar was absolutely great and professional. I had a huge anxiety of driving a car and he certainly helped me to overcome it. Super patient and always kind. As for the school itself, the management is friendly but not always professional. After finishing the course, they told me they will call me to schedule a driving test exam. I've been waiting for more than 2 weeks and called the office myself. Luckily I did call them 'cause they already had my appointment for the exam without my approval of date, time or location. The location that the school chose was the most challenging one - Starret city (always busy traffic, multiple lanes, unusual intersections - Google that and will see it's the worst location for passing the test). But the worst part is that I bought additional classes and I kindly asked to use the car that's gonna be used for the exam for those classes just to be sure that I get used to it before the exam itself. The office assured me that it's gonna be 100% this car. So imagine my shock when I saw absolutely a different car on the day of the test. The interior of the car was different and it took time for me to get familiar with it. I got a feeling that school does it all on purpose to benefit of additional car rentals and classes). Unprofessional, I was scheduled to take a class and I waited for an hour and decided to go home because no one showed. Another girl showed up and said that was the second time they did that to her too. The instructor I had didn't teacher me much. It was like I was paying just to use the car. I switched instructors and I had to pay for extra classes and it still didn't help. I would go somewhere else, especially if you're not Hispanic because they'll make you feel uncomfortable about it. read more
