When we think of the Post Office we often relate it to having slow service, long waiting time and…read moredifficult to talk to staff. And that might be true before but it isn't now, not anymore. From what I can tell they've updated their system, put competent and very friendly people there and with regards to delivery, it'll get there for sure it'd just take a little bit more time be patient. Though I've been to a number of PhilPosts, this one takes the cake. They have fast service and everything is neat and organized. I have one instance that I needed a stamp or whatnot and even though it'd mean taking away business, they directed me to the right path and sent me on my merry way. I mean they could've just said something else and really, I won't know till a few months time if they tricked me or not. And that's happened to me on more than one occasion. Have a little more faith in our Post Office, service wise they're pushing it further and trying their best to keep up with the times and maintain a very affordable cost.

It's just that when I came of age, snail mail was already in decline! I think I had one mailing activity in Grade 1 or something, but that was that. Haha! So when my mom had to send a letter to the states that had to be by traditional mail and not just email, I jumped at the chance to go with her to the post office. Lol. It wasn't something urgent so it didn't have to be by those express mail couriers like fedex. It just had to get there and everyone said Philpost would do the trick, so we went to one. What surprised me was how simple and easy the whole process was! There was no line when we got there (aww...) so we went up to the lady at the counter right away, said it was for mail to the US, filled out a simple form she handed us, and then paid a measly P40 for the transaction. She got the letter, filed it in one of the cubby holes behind her, and we were done! We were in and out in 5 minutes. The letter was gonna get there in 2 weeks. And it did! A little earlier even, yay. Kinda makes me sad the post office is practically extinct though. But kudos to Philpost for staying in the game and transforming into a full-on logistics company! A reliable one, too.

It's a wonderful thing to behold. Few government buildings are as imposing and big as the Manila Central Post Office. Indeed, when I look at this structure I often wonder to myself why the country isn't littered with more structures like it. It's neoclassical structure is like a breath of fresh air compared to most of the box like buildings that I see populating Manila's streets. I love this building because it reminds me that there are hidden architectural gems in Manila that will stand out and make me look twice each time I cross the street or look around the corner.

For older generations or those far apart, it is a way by which one can send sweet, heartfelt, and handwritten messages to their loved ones. While the Marikina Post Office is a small place with a few stations, it is efficiently run by the few people there, cleanly able to efficiently help one out when sending a domestic or international message, postcard, or letter. Call me old-fashioned, but I am a "suki" of the Marikina Post Office. Thus, I can attest that this post office is reliable. Not once did any of my letters or postcards get lost in transit. Never did any of the letters of my friends or relatives from oversees fail to reach me. While most people are cautious about trusting their local post office, I never had a reason to worry. Sending my mails via the Marikina Post Office, I can relax knowing that my letters and postcards will reach my faraway relatives and friends on time. Truly, it is a wonder that so small a place can be a gateway to so many a distant land, and that I know that somewhere, somehow, my sweet, thoughtful messages written on paper is making a relative or a friend smile on the other side of the planet.

Package was delayed already for 3 weeks (ordered November Black Friday, was able to pick up 2 days before Christmas!) and the amount I paid for a 4lb item cost the same if I used TWO DAY SHIPPING with Fedex or another logistics company.
