Seriously one of the best apartment complexes in the Arrowhead area. what apartment complex is going to have a beach front entrance pool that's 24 hours along with a 24 hour gym,sauna and club house ?!? it really is better than like apartment living. I love it here. All the guys that do maintenance are fast reliable. They make sure everything gets completely finished. We have food trucks on Thursday too which is always a nice bonus. A gated community is only that if the gate works. Front gates have been broken for 4-5 months!!! 8 residents had their catalytic converters stolen last night while parked in the "gated community" oh and don't even get my started on the on site security that is listed as an amenity on your lease she works super hard arranging all your stuff to be stolen clearly. Oh you have been contacted. Several times! Every time my nephews bike has been stolen off the patio! The gates are open 24/7 you're really gonna respond and act like they're not??? I have pictures of all hours day and night both the entrance and exit wide open!!!!! So try again. If you guys can't get someone to repair the gates in 5 months maybe call someone else?? Corporate has been called and they said, "they can't control the crime in the area" that's the response when your residents are getting their property stolen. read more

This place SUCKS. My rent has increased $400 during my time here. They charge you for "services" you don't want or need like "valet" pick up and an "I-Apartment" app that simply allows them to be alerted to water leaks from washing machines, water heaters and dish washers. Which you are charged for. After 5 years here they advised me that my carpet needed to be replaced due excessive excrement from my dog (a 12 pound dachshund). I paid $2,500 to have plank wood floors to be installed. The "security gate" is frequently open or broken. When it's not it's closed at random days and times. Most recently my AC unit went out. I submitted an "emergency" maintenance request on a Wednesday morning. Maintenance came out on Thursday and told me the AC unit would need to be replaced... which didn't happen until the following Monday. I could go on and on. Simply stated this place SUCKS! This place looked amazing when we first drove up. We took the tour and it wasn't half bad. The staff started outout responsive and were ready to answer all our questions and concerns. They started the application was denied and told me that I'd be receiving a letter. What that means to me is that they are sending a hard copy of the denial with the reasons. Never got it, so I emailed and asked them about the denial. They said to wait on an email. Oh, so it's an email this time.. got it. Never received the email. Went back and forth a couple times to see what happened and then they just stopped responding. Went a whole week before they get back to me telling me where the email should've been sent from. Checked all my junk mail, spam, etc and I don't see it. There went $370. I wanted to get more info so I wasn't going to be spending all this money on application fees. But, they didn't have the decency to help me figure out what was wrong. Had a brief chat with the leasing team of a different complex letting them know about my experience with this San Lagos team. When they ran background, they CALLED ME and ASKED ME about an item that popped up from 7 years ago. I told them what happened and she said "got it, I'll let management know it was a small issue that's been resolved. Your application is approved. Just wait for some follow up this week about deposits and available move in dates". If only San Lagos had a competent team that reached out, they'd have my business and I wouldn't be writing this review. It is what it is though. I wouldn't recommend moving to ANY of the Mark Taylor communities if this is gone they're going to treat people. I wish I didn't have to give them a star cause they don't deserve it. read more

The maintenance people were fine, but the billing department and management team are the worst I've ever worked with. I have lived here for over 2 years and twice THEY have made a mistake and tried to charge me extra for it. 1) They charged me rent twice and told me that both payments would be added to my account. As a result I was not supposed to pay rent the following month. However, they lied and discarded my check without updating me. Then when I didn't pay rent the next month, as discussed, they charged me over $100 in late fees. 2) I called to inform them of my intentions to move out when the lease ended months in advance. They did not document this interaction. My apartment is clean and empty. I went to the office to return the keys, and they are trying to force me to pay an EXTRA MONTH OF RENT (over $1800). If you don't want to be scammed out of your money I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

There is virtually no security for these apartments. I have had several issues with my cars being damaged. Someone tried to break the glass of my car windows. I have had random people walking around that are looking for things to steal. They do not protect their clients valuables. I am scared to leave my car at night. Very dangerous! Don't drive nice cars or have young ladies move into this apartment complex until they work on security. They need a FULL time security guard that does nothing but drive around at night ALL night. Please San Lagos get a security guard that actually does something and/or get cameras around the complex! read more

I counted 5 dead fish in the pond (a disgusting green-colored pond nonetheless) this morning. They've been there for a while as I saw them earlier in the week as well. And since they obviously can't care for their outdoor animals, they thought it would be a brilliant idea to purchase an "office fish" and send out a request asking for name suggestions. My suggestion is RIP as that is what this fish will be soon. They stuck a poor betta fish in a bowl. No heating element, no filter for water flow. A freaking bowl. Come on. The lack of research put into caring for any animal in the complex is appalling especially considering a large majority of their tenents go to Midwestern University. As veterinary students. They need to give the betta to someone who will actually put in effort for researching the care these animals require. Additionally, there's a female "security" guard (I wouldn't trust her to keep anything secure) that spends most of the night standing in the street with her phone plugged into the ground (an odd place for an outlet), playing games on her phone. I've almost hit her several times.. Edit to add after the subpar response: Thank you for taking the advice of a pet store employee who can work there while in high school rather than the doctoral students going to school for animal medicine. Multiple who have attempted to contact the complex with concern over the care of the animals but comments are rejected and not posted on the Henri app. Also, they do not clean the pond weekly. That's a fat lie. The same trash and dead fish is there weeks on end. Let's not claim to "respect" animals when the complexes actions clearly state otherwise. And your "security" guard isn't reporting anything with her little character jumping around on whatever game she's playing. I'd appreciate you owning up to your mistakes rather than a copy and paste corporate reply trying to save ass. read more

I absolutely love living here, but I wish there was more security around in terms of theft, my boyfriend's locked car has been broken in twice here within a 3 month span. I understand there's not much to be done in terms of the theft, but maybe try to have more than 1 security guard (who doesn't sit on their phone) on the premises. Not to mention I do wish the gates were closed throughout the day, anybody can just drive in and do what they wish, maybe for future residents, they can be given a temporary code that lets them in, just an idea. Despite that, everything else here is phenomenal, I love that more doggie waste disposals were put in place and I love walking my dog around the lake here it's gorgeous and I know they do everything they can to make this place enjoyable. I would love to give this property 5 stars. It is a beautiful place to live. It's clean and peaceful and the staff was always very friendly. I hardly ever heard noise from the adjacent apartments. I submitted two different maintenance requests because my shower would only put out hot water, no matter how far to the right you turned the knob. As a result, I usually ended up taking showers with just a trickle of water or it was too hot. The maintenance guy was really nice, but I hope they're not paying him too much. He left me a note that said he replaced my shower head and hoped that would fix the problem. I couldn't help but laugh...I'm not a plumber but I even know that wouldn't fix the problem! After two attempts, I just gave up. It has now been 2 days shy of a month since I moved out and I STILL haven't received my deposit refund! Per Arizona Revised Statutes, a landlord has 14 days to return your deposit with an itemized breakdown. I have made numerous calls to San Lagos as well to the corporate office in Scottsdale. I'm told my check was mailed on Friday. At this point, I don't even care who is at fault. Just DO YOUR JOB!!! I feel bad for anyone who lives paycheck to paycheck and is dependent upon these bozos to refund their deposit in a timely manner. Mark Taylor, this is unacceptable. read more

Such a subjective topic to Yelp about- but to score a "First," I will do it. Currently, I am a student and it has been amazing to live so close to school but yet be able to leave the campus every day. Several of my classmates live on-campus and have to be 'at school' 24 hrs a day.... For perspective apartment seekers- I'd say 70%, if not more, are Midwestern students. I'd consider this a plus because we are all a bunch of book nerds trying to get through school so we are very QUIET. Additionally, we don't want to get into trouble so we are very reluctant to vandalize, steal, or liter on premise. :) I have Loved having all my appliances "in-unit" (having moved from Chicago, W/D in-unit was a myth to behold), zero-entry (pool has a sand bar that you can pull a recliner onto, have your feet in the water, and study Biochem all at the same time), and the Price. I have a two-bedroom and pay $950. The staff is pretty normal. They do the courteous, hand-waive-salute thing when you drive by. They are really great at getting any complaints or broken things dealt with in a timely manner. San Lagos does host a few parties throughout the year with an open bar and free food which is pretty tight. I have also been fortunate to have a view that faces one of the several ponds. There is the potential to have a hideous view of Home Depot and the rest of 'that' strip mall. There are also a few resident ducks that waddle around and add a little character to the grounds. As I approach rotations I am considering moving- only because most of my rotations are scheduled at the VA, AZ Heart, etc. and are located in downtown Phoenix. Also, I'm considering getting a doggy and San Lagos prohibits dogs. I believe they allow cats... but WHO wants one of those?!? ;) BUT I really hate moving so who knows. read more

We moved in 3 weeks ago. We toured online because of covid19 and jumped on the low prices while we could find them. The apartment surprising looked exactly like the pictures. Here are some weird things we have slowly noticed. Ok so my cousin lived here 5 years ago and they didn't have an upgraded unit like we do. But you can tell they are the same exact cabinets but painted. Its just weird to me because from my understanding apartments repaint the walls every time someone moves out. I would figure that you would at least touch up the painted cabinets as well?!?! Idk the cabinets look nice but they have chips on them everywhere. Not a big deal to us i just thought it was very weird to only half paint the painted things. Whoever painted well they suck and you should hire new people. Because there is paint splatter all over the wood floors. Not a big deal just my observation. Also I find it weird that they painted all the walls but not the bathrooms.... not a big deal I've just never seen that. Now 2 things that actually irritate me about this apartment. We were so excited to have more cabinet space in the kitchen. But these cabinets are the smallest kitchen cabinets and drawers I have ever witnessed. They are very narrow and not very deep. So they didn't fit our kitchen plates or crock pots/ instapots. There is a pantry area, that is deeper and wider so we ended up switching these pantry/plate areas. It's just a little opposite. We also had to buy new silver trays because the drawers are so narrow. We really need an extra drawer because everything is just so cluttered. But it is what it is. Also another weird thing I noticed is they put handles on places that aren't drawers but look like drawers. Like why would you do that?! Idk just another weird things I observed. And on to the second thing. We move in and are standing in the living area and I all of a sudden get this whiff of dog pee. Now We just lost our dog 4 months ago to kidney disease the pee smells awful. For me to smell just regular dog pee in the air..... now I'm frustrated. Mind you this carpet looks really good like I get down on all fours and smell the carpet yup..... very very strong whiff of dog pee. So we call the office and leave a message. They get back to us 4 days later and schedule a carpet reclean. Awesome but I already know its not going to come out because these carpets were cleaned before we moved in. Sure enough smells just as bad as it did before the reclean. So we contact them 4 days after the reclean and once again leave a message telling them our carpet smells like piss. It has now been a week and have heard nothing back from the office. I just moved from a place that smelled like piss (due to my sick dog) I didn't want to move to a new place to have the same problem(we had to pay our last place for new carpet). This is 3 weeks now we have moved here and our carpet still smells like piss. Granted we only found one spot but once we turn off the AC and open the windows that smell is going to come out ten times worse. Now this leads me to the issues the I have noticed with the office. Mind you we just moved from a place that was amazing especially with them answering phones, returning phone calls, and maintenance requests were always completed within 48 hours. Our initial application took a week and that was only because we called and pushed it through. There is no reason an application should take this long I'm sorry its ridiculous. My last place application and background check completed in less than 24 hours. I've noticed the office never answers the phone and takes a very long time to get back to you. I'm sure they are super nice and accommodating when you don't have a problem. I shouldn't have to continuously keep calling the office for them to call me back. This is customer service please do better! read more

The works here in the office get things done fast. They fixed the problems we had when we came in only have to fix the shower head and give us an upgrade one. So I have lived at these apartments for 2 years. Never had any issues until this year. My friends came to visit from out of town and we went to the pool. I brought some beers and seltzers for us to drink. We were relaxing and having a good time until I was ambushed by 2 associates claiming we cannot have glass. Understandable right ? Ok so I politely said I will throw them away as we were done anyway. The girl working however "Alex" did not give me a warning or anything and simply said they are going to charge me $50 for having glass bottles. No warning or anything on top of embarrassing me in front of my friends who I haven't seen in a few years, while I was talking this place up. Shame on you Alex. I haven't used the pool in over a year and have never brought alcohol to the pool before but was trying to show my friends a good time. After we left the pool I came in the office because my friend needed to use the bathroom and I wanted to make sure I got her name right. She was skeptic about giving me her name as she did not want a bad review. Unfortunate situation, bad attitudes and poor customer service. Will be moving when my lease ends and do not plan on giving anymore referrals because they also raised rent $450 dollars since our last lease renewal. read more

My family and I moved away from here last July 2013. We enjoyed living here until the summer came. We lived upstairs directly above one of the lakes. When the weather started warming up the lake smelled really bad. Worse than that is the circumstance surrounding my move out. My husband had already left out of state for his new job so it became a very hectic time trying to complete a move with my children and 118 degree temperatures. I had placed my wedding set on my bathroom counter while I was finishing loading our stuff, my hands were swollen from the heat. I made a dreaded mistake and left it there when we moved. I called up the office as soon as the they were open (about 4 hours after I left) and informed them of this. They said they would go check and see. The manager sent her maintenance worker by himself to go search for my expensive diamond set. Of course he came back and said it wasn't there. LIAR!!!! I am furious that they would have sent one employee by himself to go retrieve such an important item left behind. She should have gone herself and brought a witness. This has been heartbreaking. I feel like and idiot for leaving it,however, I was exhausted and way overheated. Shame on them for their lack of compassion and care, and shame on the maintenance guy for stealing it and saying it wasn't where I know it was. read more

I lived at San Lagos for nearly two years and it was hard to leave. But given the cost, I chose to purchase a home rather than continue renting. I have few complaints other than the valet trash sucked and the person recently hired as manager, Charal, also sucked. I came to Charal in January after I found a home much quicker than expected and asked her what my options were, as my lease didn't end until May. I stupidly took her advice to keep my lease (and pay $1300 a month), with the idea that someone else could rent my apartment and relieve me of my lease, as soon as I moved out. She told me this would save me from having to pay $1500 to break my lease and since there was a waiting list of people trying to get apartments at San Lagos, it was likely that I would be relieved of my lease. Yes, shame on me for not making sure I understood my lease terms. But I did understand Charal. I tried to turn in my keys but she kept encouraging me not to (I sure didn't want to pay an extra $1500). After not hearing anything about my apartment for weeks, I went to visit MY apartment and the locks had been changed! Breach of contract. I went back and forth about several things with Charal via email and over the phone, where she was just plain rude to me. She spoke to me like I was stupid and completely ignored the fact that my locks had been changed until I brought it up. The rest of San lagos staff and even other Mark Taylor employees have been nothing short of wonderful. But Charal's advice cost me an extra $1300. The way she spoke to me has cost me extra energy. I want Mark Taylor and everyone else to know I broke my lease with San lagos SPECIFICALLY because of Charal Sills. Her attitude, disrespectfulness, dishonesty, and ignorance, among other things, should not be allowed or tolerated within a management position. I wish everyone else under her management the best of luck. THEY get 5 stars *Update* Melanie, district manager, contacted me and made things right. Myself and my fiancee moved down to Arizona from Wisconsin at the end of May. We really weren't sure how we would like Arizona or if this would be just a temporary thing until her schooling was completed. After living at the San Lagos apartments now for over 6 months I can honestly say that we won't be leaving Arizona anytime soon! Love everything about the complex! Staff are awesome and the one or two problems that I did have they were over later that day or the next to fix it. On top of it all the ladies who work over in the office are always so happy and upbeat. Definitely makes for a relaxing setting. I'd recommend this complex to anyone in a heartbeat! read more

beautiful gated community close to Midwestern University. The grounds are like living at a 5 star Michelin resort and the pool area is fantastic. Lots of room for kids to play on the beach at the pool too. Beautiful well kept grass parkways wind around lovely ponds with fountains. Work out room, party room are both beautiful with views over looking large ponds. Outdoor seating areas and bbq qrills are abundant so residents can cook outside with friends. Covered parking and garages are available as needed or by contract. We rented furniture from Cort for our daughter who is a student across the street and San Lagos let them in and handled all the details so easily for us. Its been a pleasure having our daughter live in such a nice place. Prices are very reasonable I think for units with full size washer and dryers. Maintenance staff is prompt and very friendly and helpful. Office staff is also very helpful. This complex also has several units you can rent and use for guests to stay in like a hotel at very reasonable prices. Very convenient to shopping and major highways and school. Great for grad students, families and singles a like. I'd pick San Lago over San Piedro which is owned by the same company because I don't think it is as new or as nice looking. Definitely a place to consider to rent!!! read more

This complex takes advantage of the fact that it is directly across the street from Midwestern University. Student who don't know the area well get ripped off on a lease. Their landscapers spend days to do basic work, so if you enjoy the endless noise of leaf blowers, weed wackers, etc then this is the place for you. Additionally, they offer "$150/person you refer", but trust me - you won't ever see a red cent of that. They have a great pool area, but refuse to heat it during the colder months so nobody goes in the pool between Nov and Apr, and the front office people won't actually let you have more than one or two guests at the pool so if your friends want to have a get together or watch a sports game down there, they will come and break it up. Lastly, and worst of all, there is a LOT of crime. I'm not sure if it is coincidence or the actual employees, but many of my fellow students had their apartments broken into (about 10 per year). I feel bad for "recommending" this place to incoming students in the hopes of getting a payout, but I moved out after 1 year and I am so happy that I did. read more
