My daughter went in for a referral and she was nervous, but he was extremely kind to her and helped and gave us all the info we needed and made her feel at ease. doctor just seemed so uninterested. literally came in, didn't even take a look at my skin and just told me what he was gonna give me. I only gave it two stars because there was a really nice lady that was in the room with me before hand but overall I would go somewhere else. If I could give less than a 1, I would. My experience was several years ago, but after reading recent reviews, I felt I needed to warn future patients, too. I went to see Dr Perez for a rash that suddenly appeared on my chest and sudden EXTREMELY itchy scalp. He could not come up with a diagnosis and after prescribing several meds to try he said that's all he could do. His final prescription was Thalidomide! I had to sign several waivers before he could prescribe it and when I found out that it would cost me over $2,000/week after insurance, I said no way! Then I researched it and decided that was a crazy prescription. I went to another dr. who quickly diagnosed me with Lupus and now my meds cost me $0. (My new dr could not believe Dr P suggested Thalidomide). Stay away from this place! read more

The office management and billing office at this practice is terrible! They are rarely available to take calls and they never return calls. I have an open charge on my fsa account that is pending approval for almost a YEAR now!! I have sent them multiple requests and depending on the direction the wind is blowing, I get a different response but never the response I need which is the required documentation to approve the charges. My FAMILY FSA is now frozen due to their poor communication practices, failure to maintain paperwork, failure to respond to patient requests and just an all around lack of patient care. I asked for the residing doctor instead of the PA to oversee the removal of a small growth I have on my arm. This seemed to offend one of the office assistants there enough, for whatever reason, for her to act extremely rude and for her to give me a pretty hard time trying to schedule the appointment. In my experience, when the lower level employees are given the leeway to act like that and treat their clients in such a way, its usually because that sort of culture has been established from top on down. When I went in to see Dr. Perez he was extremely short and talked to me for not even two minutes. He told me for my skin condition there was nothing he could do and I just had to live with it and left. I spent a bunch of money for him to speak to me for a couple minutes and disregard any treatments. I went online after to look up his diagnosis and found multiple treatment options and various methods of treating the condition he said I had. I called them after my appointment to ask to talk to a doctor about getting some of these treatments and never got a call back. The only decent thing about my experience was the wonderful nurse who spent more time talking to me about the problems I was having and the only person who could give me any solutions. What I had said was, Dr. Perez did not listen to my concerns or questions as a patient. He was aloof, did not pay little to any attention to my detailed information about my condition, and sent me away within 10 minutes with a prescription not even targeted to my issue. *BEWARE* Do NOT trust this place. I believe Dr. Perez preformed a procedure on my face that he had no business doing. I wish he would have recommended me to someone who had experience instead of leading me to believe he could. I was told a 1 week healing time, and now a month and 10 days later I am STILL healing with the help of a new doctor. My experience here could not be more disappointing. A nerve was pinched during my sutures and were promptly removed the following day, a stitch was LEFT IN MY LIP for 3 weeks causing infection ( Perez's solution was to recut open my face? The new doctor simply applied pressure and pushed out the stray stitch...that had been lodged in my face....for over 3 weeks...??? HOW does this even happen?) The worst experience ever. I got lip fillers from Dr. Perez and he rushed through the entire process and I now have lumpy and deformed lip filler. I went in to see him to get it corrected, after waiting for 30 mins after my appointment time, he looked at my filler for 30 seconds and told me to massage them for one week. On September 8th, I visited San Marcos Dermatology to have them look at a place on my face that would not clear up. I reported that I had visited a different dermatologist earlier for another skin issue, and they had frozen this spot but that it had returned. The previous dermatologist had mentioned that it might be precancerous, but the spot was not dark or rough; it was just flaky and slightly raised. I had been having problems with breakout and rashes from wearing my mask. The PA Micah Williams looked at it briefly and announced that she would need to do a biopsy. She never asked me questions or discussed the ramifications of what she was about to do. She never mentioned the extent of scarring that would result to let me decide the course of action. Previous skin biopsies had been slight shaves that cleared up within a few weeks. When I got home and looked under the bandage, I saw that this is what she had done to my face. I was shocked and nauseous. She had gouged an enormous hole in my face. I couldn't believe it. I knew that this deep a hole never go away. I will probably be permanently scarred. I had gone to a dermatologist to have my face cleared up, and this is what she did to me. The next week I returned to talk to Dr. Perez. The biopsy had come in, and he reported that it had just been a slight thickening of the skin that would normally have been treated with a cream. I was naturally significantly upset and wanted to know how this kind of treatment was acceptable to his practice. All he could tell me was that I should just "put Vaseline on it" and that "he was sorry that I was so upset". I had worked so hard to try to clear up my face from rashes and breakouts from constant mask wearing, and in one short visit, they had taken that possibility away forever. He refused to acknowledge the extent to which this action had damaged my life. One of the biggest problems with health care is that doctors don't talk with patients and let them be involved in treatment decisions. They just force expensive meds, tests or procedures. This is what happened with Micah Williams. She spent a few minutes looking at my face, demanded that I get a biopsy, and then thoughtlessly sliced a huge gash in my face. I wonder if she would have done the same thing to her own face under the same circumstances. Over a month later, the scar is still very deep, wide, and clearly visible. Every time I happen to see this crater on my face, I feel sick. They will probably respond to this review that their actions were warranted based on the risk of skin cancer, but this is not true. What they did to me was NEVER justified. To add insult to injury, they now want me to pay for disfiguring my face. I've also received a bill from the lab for $188, which is over twice the amount for the visit. This has been the worst medical experience I've ever had, and I will be left with the depressing evidence of it for the rest of my life. I saw Dr. Rodriguez for years to do annual skin checks, cosmetic procedures, and loved her friendly interaction and professionalism. Now that she's gone, so much has changed! Last time I went to the clinic to have some brown spots removed, the person (not a Dr.) froze the spots and said they would come off as they healed from the freezing. Some came off and some didn't. I called the office and was told that I would need to pay again to re-freeze the ones that didn't come off. What? I already paid to have them removed. The same person who froze them in the first place was very rude and told me, "you signed a paper saying that you would pay again if they didn't come off so that's what you will need to do". I'm through with this office. They're not the only act in town! read more

I just moved to town and my GP referred me for my eczema that I had been successfully treating for over a year. Because I changed insurance and doctors I needed to get the medication approved and represcribed. This process took 5 months and multiple visits, each costing me my $40 copay every two weeks for medication I was previously getting for free. Though they graciously offered me office samples until they sorted out the prescription mess, but one time they injected me with 2x more medicine than prescribed because they just weren't paying attention. It is a specialty new ish medication so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt as it finally got sorted. Because we had an established relationship I went back to them for Botox. I told them the issues I was having and my budget. I also asked if we could use the non-brand name Botox as it was a bit cheaper and he assured me it gave the same results. I told them I had a $300 budget and showed them the areas of concern. When I check out the bill was $390, nearly $100 over what we had discussed, but again, I didn't want to complain. A few days later I noticed my eyebrows were way too low, I looked like I was scowling. One eyebrow could move, the other could not. He said If I had any problems to call and go back. I waited a few days but couldn't even look in the mirror so called to get it fixed. It was a mess. I went back today to try and solve the problem. The solution? $260 more Botox. While there today I found out from the nurse that they actually used the brand name stuff when I was there before, which I asked them not to, but it explained the higher bill when I checked out. I returned today, waited for 50 minutes beyond my appointment time and I could not believe they charged me another $260 considering it was a bad Botox job in the first place. If they had told me I would need $650 worth of Botox to address the areas of concern I would have never agreed, but my face was a mess so I had no choice but to do more. It would have been cheaper for me to fly to Phoenix, and see my dermatologist from before. Very disappointed... will call my GP and ask for a new referral. read more
